Chapter 80: A rare day off for traveling
Olivia didn't nod or shake her head, but asked, "Can I ask you a question?"
Darien nodded, "Okay."
Olivia asked, "The sister Yolanda I met today, is she Her Majesty the Queen?"
Darien said, "Yes, she is."
Olivia thought for a moment and continued, "This is Mr. Magician's help, right? Her Majesty the Queen is your friend, and you introduced me to her, so Her Majesty wants me to be a court lady. Mr. Magician, you are truly a very good person."
She was half right, but she was a little off, and Darien didn't think he was helping as much as she said.
"Ms. Olivia, thank you for your compliment. But you are wrong. I did not provide you with that much help. I just asked Queen Yolanda if I could issue you an identity certificate." He explained.
"I think Mr. Magician must have praised me a lot to spark Her Majesty's interest in me." Olivia shook her head. "I've heard of palace ladies-in-waiting. They're not actually maids; their main job is to accompany the royal women."
"But from what I've seen of Queen Yolanda, she doesn't need that kind of company," Darian said. "What she needs is someone who can help her with her work and give her sound advice."
Olivia was a little confused: "Me?"
Darien said, "Yes, that's you. I think you're tough enough and a quick learner, and you're definitely a good fit for Queen Yolanda."
Olivia was embarrassed. "That doesn't sound like me at all. I barely know anything..."
Darien said, "You can try it first. Isn't it true that you can only know if something is right for you after you try it?"
Olivia nodded. "You're right! I'll work hard!"
Darien said, "Miss Olyfia, are you sure you want to become a lady-in-waiting? Not because of others, but because you really want to do it."
He didn't want Olivia to do this just because of his recommendation or because she didn't want to disappoint Queen Yolanda's invitation, but because Olivia wanted to do this sincerely.
Olivia said: "Yes, this is my own decision. I am just surprised and grateful that Mr. Magician can do so much for me. You are really a very, very good person."
Darien looked away. "Thank you. I just think if you stay here any longer, I'll have to pay for your food."
Olivia said, "Mr. Magician, you still have to find excuses for your kindness. Are you too shy?"
Darien stopped talking and stood up to leave.
Olivia stayed at the dining table: "Hey! Hey! Mr. Magician, did I say something wrong?"
Darien left the restaurant.
As Sewell cleared the dishes, he said to Olivia, "I agree with you. My master is indeed a very kind person, but he is unwilling to admit it."
Olivia said, "So Mr. Magician is quite shy!"
Sewell laughed: "That's true."
Olivia left the tower the next day. Queen Yolanda gave her a legal identity certificate. If she didn't want to continue to be a court lady, she could be free somewhere else.
After she left, the tower fell silent again.
The magic shop was operating as normal and didn't receive too many customers. Darian did some calculations and felt that the recent revenue was pretty good, so he decided to close the shop for a few days and go on vacation with the other people in the tower.
Calculating the time, it is almost time for him to go out for a week or so. Mr. Mage, who has not had a rest for decades, can finally have a good rest.
So the long-awaited tower meeting was held in the restaurant. Leon's clothes were taken down and hung on the wall of the restaurant, and he also had a say.
"The long-awaited vacation time is coming in a few days. I would like to hear your opinions on where we should go for vacation?" said Darien.
"Oh, dear Darien, it's time for vacation already. Let me think, the last time we took a vacation was about twenty years ago when we went to the beach. I will always remember that wonderful day. Time flies so fast." Mrs. Fitch sighed.
"That was a truly wonderful day." Darien nodded in agreement. "Since we already went to the beach last time, we should rule that out this time."
"Did I go there on my last trip?" Leon lost in memories.
"Of course you've been there, and you even got your foot pinched by a crab in the sand," Mrs. Fitch reminded her.
"Is that true? I haven't felt my toes in ages." Leon sighed.
"That sounds interesting, could you tell me more?" Sewell said.
He hadn't been here twenty years ago, and he was a little curious about what the wizard looked like during that trip.
"Okay, let's stop reminiscing. We should quickly choose our destination instead of getting lost in memories." Darien interrupted them.
"Maybe we could go to the Stemino Plain, where there are the most beautiful sunsets, the most vast grasslands, and the sweetest wine," said Sewell.
"I know this place. The delivery birds said it's a place where tomatoes grow in abundance and where there's hard wheat noodles that take a long time to cook until they're soft," said Mrs. Fitch.
"I guess the sun must be nice there," said Lyon.
"The sunshine there is really nice. As long as it's sunny, everything is a warm yellow. The walls of the houses are beige, and the roof tiles are orange-red. It's a warm place," said Darien. "So it's decided, let's go there for vacation."
"That's great! I must take some time out these days to make a few beautiful dresses for this vacation!" Mrs. Fitch said with her hands on her hips.
"Sevier, you should spend the next few days thinking about what luggage we need to pack," said Darien.
"Are we staying at a hotel?" asked Sewell.
"We'll probably rent a farmhouse," Mrs. Fitch said, "and then we'll have to figure out a lot of things ourselves."
"In other words, it's like we're just living in a different place," said Sewell.
"That's true, but think about it, in a place with beautiful scenery, walking along the dirt road with a basket to the market to buy vegetables, you will feel inexplicably happy for some reason," said Mrs. Fitch.
"I can take a walk, but I'm not sure about buying groceries. But you're right, if you stay in one place for a long time, you will be more eager to go to new places," said Darian.
"I'm already looking forward to this trip," Sewell said with a smile.
"I'm looking forward to it too. I really hope this holiday will come soon," said Darian.
So, with the anticipation of everyone in the tower, the long vacation that only comes once every twenty years finally arrived.
That morning, Darien got up earlier than usual and had coffee with a croissant, fried eggs and bacon for breakfast.
"Good morning, it's a beautiful day," said Mrs. Fitch.
She and Fitch had already packed their luggage; three small suitcases the size of matchboxes were all they had.
"Good morning, you prepared the Stemino Plain-style breakfast in advance. I feel like I can already feel the Stemino Plain sunshine in advance." Darien raised his coffee cup.
There is coffee powder at the bottom of the cup. You don’t need to stir the coffee. Just add water slowly, little by little, and the taste will always be rich.
You can also put a corner of the croissant into the cup and dip it in the coffee. The bitter taste of the coffee will neutralize the sweetness of the croissant.
Darien finished his croissant but not his coffee, finishing his bacon and eggs.
Let him eat until he is a little full, which is perfect for a walk.
Everything is ready. All the herbs in the medicine garden have been harvested, and the ripe fruits hanging on the fruit trees have been made into jam and wine. The rest are left to fall on their own.
Leon was taken down from the wall, and then everyone gathered together, and they walked through the gorse gate and came to a farmhouse on the Stemino Plain.
This place was rented several days in advance. The owner of the farmhouse had simply cleaned up the house for them, and they would be the only ones here for the next few days.
"I think I can smell the wind blowing from the fields." Mrs. Fitch twitched her nose.
"What does the wind smell like?" Darien asked.
"It smells like grass, with a little bit of floral fragrance," said Mrs. Fitch.
"You have a really good sense of smell, which is why you're such a good cook," Darien said. "Now let's take a tour of this house. It will be our temporary home."
"Do you want me to take you with me?" Sewell asked Mrs. Fitch and Fitch.
Although they had arrived at the door of the farmhouse, it was still very tiring for the two mice to walk around the whole house with such short legs.
"Then I'll leave it to you." Mrs. Fitch accepted his invitation.
"I just said I seemed to have forgotten something. It turns out I forgot to give you the transformation potion." Darien looked at the Fitch couple on Sevier's shoulders, then at Leon on the luggage and Pluto flying around.
"I had quite forgotten all about that!" exclaimed Mrs. Fitch. "Dear Darien, have you got the potions?"
"Of course I brought it, but let's go inside first." Darien looked around.
He still prefers to take a vacation as an ordinary person. It's not bad to be an ordinary person occasionally.
After entering the farmhouse and closing the door, they distributed the transformation potion, and just like last time, the Fitch couple, Leon and Pluto transformed one after another.
"Long time no see," Darien said.
"Long time no see. But I suddenly thought of something. What should I do with the skirts I brought? They are now too small and I can't wear them anymore." Mrs. Fitch said melancholy.
"It's okay, I brought enough money and we can buy it at the market here. Who is interested in going to the market?" asked Darien.
Except for Lyon who said he wanted to read on a lounge chair in such sunny weather, everyone else said they wanted to go shopping at the market.
So they set out together, walking slowly along the fenced dirt road towards the market.
