When Su Chuanlin walked into the bedroom and turned on the light, he caught his breath when he saw the person on the bed.
Just as Wang Wentao just said, she lacks a sense of security.
Hugging a black blanket, her body hunched over, she looked distressed, her face streaked with tears.
Su Chuanlin instinctively rushed to the bedside, only to find that Xiang Niannian seemed to be acting strangely.
Her eyes were tightly closed, her messy hair mixed with sweat clung to her forehead and cheeks, her eyes and nose were red, and the blue capillaries under her fair skin were clearly visible.
Her cheeks were flushed an odd way, and she was muttering to herself.
"Why?"
"I...I hate it..."
"They don't...don't want me, sob sob...they don't want me."
"..."
Listening to Xiang Niannian's intermittent accusations, Su Chuanlin seemed to have guessed something. He placed his hand on her forehead, and sure enough, she had a fever.
He hurriedly picked the person up.
"Nian Nian?"
Su Chuanlin called out softly.
In her sleep, Xiang Niannian mumbled, "Why...why?"
The girl in his arms sounded extremely aggrieved.
Su Chuanlin was taken aback. Such a voice sent a jolt of emotion through him as he recalled what she had just said.
She parted her lips slightly: "If they don't want you, that's their loss. Someone else will want you."
Su Chuanlin didn't expect Xiang Niannian to listen to him. While comforting her, he took out his phone to send a message to his assistant.
I had just put down my phone when the person in my arms started to move around.
Xiang Niannian was not fully conscious. She felt someone holding her, but she didn't know who it was. She struggled to support herself and reached out her small hands to hug his neck. She half-opened her blurry eyes and asked, "Who are you? How can your voice sound so nice? Hmm?"
Su Chuanlin's deep, dark eyes met Xiang Niannian's misty gaze. Their faces were so close that they felt their breaths were mingling.
"I'm Su Chuanlin, someone who really likes you. They don't want you, but I do, okay? I can give you anything you want, okay?"
Perhaps it was because Su Chuanlin's voice was too gentle and his words too alluring that Xiang Niannian's mind went blank. She saw a handsome face swaying in front of her and subconsciously nodded: "Okay! This...you said it yourself, you can't go back on your word!"
"No backing out. Anyone who goes back on their word is a little dog."
Before Xiang Niannian could respond, she fell into a deep sleep again.
This startled Su Chuanlin, who quickly put the person down and went to the bathroom.
I almost got so caught up in it that I forgot she was feeling unwell and had a fever.
Chen, Su Chuanlin's assistant, who was far away, couldn't help but sigh when he saw the text message from his boss.
He wondered if his position as a professional assistant was going to be reduced to that of a menial worker.
One second they're a private investigator investigating something, the next they're delivering food and medicine, and after that they go back to being a private investigator.
However, he could only complain silently in his heart. His salary did not allow him to have any complaints; no one would turn down money.
Upon receiving the information, I immediately took action.

Su Chuanlin went to the bathroom and got a cold towel, which he placed on Xiang Niannian's forehead. Looking at the small face in front of him, his heart softened.
If you ignore that pale face, it's perfect.
For convenience, Su Chuanlin filled a basin with cold water and kept washing the towels back and forth.
His movements weren't very skilled, but you could tell from his eyes that he was extremely serious.
It should be noted that, apart from Nan Sheng, he had never taken care of any other woman. Even his mother and father never troubled him, so he did not have a particularly smooth time doing these things.
In fact, Su Chuanlin could have easily asked someone for help, but he didn't want to.
Not long after, someone knocked on the door. Su Chuanlin went out to open it, took the things from Assistant Chen, and closed the door without saying a word.
"..." Assistant Chen looked at the tightly closed door, realizing that his efforts had been in vain.
Su Chuanlin got what he needed, immediately opened the package, took out the thermometer, and put it into Xiang Niannian's mouth.
A few minutes later, he took out the thermometer, looked at it, and breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, he had come up, and it wasn't a high fever.
Su Chuanlin removed the towel from Xiang Niannian's forehead, put on a fever-reducing patch, and then went out again. When he came back in, he was holding a glass of water.
He sat on the bed and half-embraced Xiang Niannian, pulling her close to his chest.
"Niannian, shall we get up, take our medicine, and then go back to sleep?"
Su Chuanlin spoke softly, afraid of startling her.
Unfortunately, the person in his arms still didn't react.
He spoke again: "Niannian? Niannian..."
Su Chuanlin pondered for a moment, looking at those somewhat pale lips, and thinking of the unexpected kiss earlier that day, his Adam's apple bobbed unconsciously.
A hand gently pried open Xiang Niannian's lips, put the medicine in, then quickly took a sip of water and lowered his head to seal those pale lips with his own.
The bedroom was silent. Su Chuanlin could almost hear his own heartbeat, with only faint breathing and soft swallowing sounds, as if proclaiming a sense of tranquility and peace to the world.
Su Chuanlin never expected that their first kiss would be given away like this.
Although the kiss was for administering medicine, he could clearly feel that her lips were softer than he had imagined.
Seeing the water stains at the corner of the person's mouth in his arms, Su Chuanlin's eyes darkened. He cursed himself inwardly, then lowered his head and kissed him, intending to end the kiss quickly.
