"Oh… Oh my…" Wen Shifei, nestled in Lu Cheneng's arms, gazed up at the miraculous (or perhaps magical) scene that enveloped the entire world. Her pain vanished, leaving only incomparable shock and… a deep, bone-deep fear! This was no ordinary explosion! This was the result of the uncontrolled release of the vast genetic energy and underlying protocols contained within the core of "Zero," triggering a widespread celestial shift! It was the death knell of the old order, and also the announcement of the birth of some unknown new order!
Lu Chen's heart sank to the bottom of the valley, and an unprecedented chill enveloped him. He instantly understood the source of the explosion and the meaning of this strange phenomenon! This light illuminated the ruins and the chaotic city below.
He held Wen Shifei in his arms, struggling to move to a crack where he could see the outside world. Below, where the Tianshu Building had once stood, only a vast pit remained, billowing with smoke and arcs of dark blue electricity! The surrounding buildings, like building blocks trampled by a giant, toppled and slammed into flames! Screams, cries, and alarms (partially restored) merged into a sea of despair!
On a relatively intact elevated platform not far from the pit, a figure stood quietly. His black cloak rustled in the faint blue starlight and the glow of the fire below. It was Lu Qiming!
He didn't command a rescue, nor did he betray the slightest anger or panic of losing his foundation. He tilted his head slightly, calmly gazing at the vast, cold, slowly rotating seven-pointed star projection in the sky. His eyes... were as deep as a cosmic black hole. There was no fear, no sadness, only a kind of... almost fanatical focus and... a cold, controlling... anticipation? The corners of his mouth even twitched into a barely perceptible, creepy... smile!
What made Lu Chenheng's blood almost freeze was that Lu Qiming seemed to have sensed something, and his unfathomable gaze slowly and accurately swept across the chaotic crowd, and finally... like two poisoned ice cones, it penetrated the dense smoke and the long distance, and nailed firmly to the direction of the crack where Lu Chenheng was hiding!
That gaze! Contained with a far greater and more substantial mental pressure than ever before! Like an invisible hammer, it slammed fiercely into the core of Lu Chen's brain chip!
"Ugh!" Lu Chenheng groaned, his vision instantly black. A sharp, stabbing pain and a chaotic cacophony of sounds emanated from his chip! It was as if countless cold steel needles were stirring his nerves! He bit his lip hard to prevent a cry out, and the muscles in his arms, which were holding Wen Shifei, bulged to the limit!
"Lock on... defector... coordinates... confirmed..." Lu Qiming's icy voice seemed to echo directly in his head! Then, he raised his hand and issued an unquestionable order to the heavily damaged yet still elite task force, which had just regained communication. Although he couldn't hear the specifics, Lu Cheneng saw that the task force members were like activated killing machines, instantly turning around. Several still-functioning "Bee Eye" drones, painted with scarlet eagle emblems, swooped down on their hiding area like vultures smelling blood!
Discovered! And Lu Qiming had directly locked onto her mind in some incomprehensible way!
"Let's go!!!" Lu Cheneng didn't hesitate at all. He picked up Wen Shifei, who had once again fallen into a semi-comatose state, and smashed open the rickety passage door. He ran for his life in the opposite direction of the elevated platform! He no longer cared about hiding, increasing his speed to the limit, weaving through the burning streets and the terrified crowds like two desperate shadows.
The roar of the drone's engine behind him was like a death knell! Energy beams continued to fire, exploding into rubble and flames at his feet! Lu Cheneng, relying on his awakened senses and combat instincts, made one hair's breadth of evasive maneuvers after another. Wen Shifei groaned in pain in his arms, the violent turbulence irritating the wounds all over her body.
"In front! The sewer entrance!" Lu Cheneng saw a manhole cover blown open by an explosion, billowing with thick smoke, like the throat leading to hell. No choice!
He held Wen Shifei in his arms and jumped into the dark abyss filled with strong stench and pungent chemical fumes without hesitation!

Thick, cold, filthy sewage instantly filled him up to his waist. The pungent stench was nearly suffocating. Lu Cheneng flicked on the barely charged tactical flashlight he'd plundered from the corpse. The dim beam of light barely pierced the despairing darkness. The sewer was like the intestines of a giant beast, wide and twisting, the sewage flowing slowly, carrying all sorts of disgusting garbage and... bloated, deformed animal carcasses.
"Cough cough...Chen Entropy..." Wen Shifei was irritated by the sewage and the stench, and started coughing violently, his face becoming even more pale.
"I'm here! Hold me tight!" Lu Chenshang held her tightly with one hand, a flashlight in the other, wading through the waist-deep sewage, one foot deep, one foot shallow. Underfoot was slippery mud and unknown hard objects. Each step was extremely difficult. From the sewer entrance behind them, the hum of circling drones and the shouts of the task force members could be heard. They clearly didn't dare to rush down, but they had sealed the exit.
Temporarily shaken off? No!
Suddenly, as the flashlight beam swept across the murky water, several fist-sized metal spheres with flashing blue indicators silently emerged! Like lurking water spiders, they hovered quietly, their compound eyes locked onto their target!
"'Beehive' underwater tracker!" Wen Shifei exclaimed weakly.
Zizizizi—! Several tiny but absolutely deadly blue arcs of electricity shot out from the sphere, directly attacking the two people!
Lu Chen's reaction was incredibly fast. He slammed Wen Shifei into the sewage (avoiding the arc) and simultaneously leaned back! With a swish! A flash of electricity brushed past his shoulder, instantly scorching his armor and sending a sharp pain through his flesh!
