Chapter 5 Scarlet Furious Waves

The piercing alarms pierced Lu Chen's newly "free" sensory system like countless red-hot needles. Almost instinctively, he pulled Wen Shifei behind him, his gaze sweeping across the red dots on the monitor representing the Tianshu Consortium's most elite security forces. Like sharks scenting blood, they closed in with astonishing speed and precise tactics, sealing off all known conventional exits.

"Damn it! How did they lock onto the core location of the 'Lighthouse' so quickly?" Wen Shifei's voice was filled with panic and annoyance. Her hands turned into afterimages on the keyboard, trying to interfere with the other party's tracking signal and activate the preset emergency destruction program at the same time. "The 'Lighthouse's' physical firewall can withstand them for at least ten minutes, but at the data level... they have an insider, or they have some backdoor key that I don't know about!"

"Forget about the data," Lu Chen's voice was unusually calm, but those familiar with his past would notice that beneath this calmness lay an unprecedented vitality, like the underground current rushing before a volcanic eruption. "The most important thing now is that we two get out. How confident are you about the emergency escape route here?"

Wen Shifei suddenly looked up at him, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. At such a critical moment, this man, who had just been her target of revenge, unexpectedly put "us" first without hesitation. His eyes were no longer the empty, all-seeing coldness of the past, but were filled with focus and a kind of...heart-pounding determination.

"There is an unconventional passage that leads directly to the abandoned subway network in the downtown area." She gritted her teeth, "But it's extremely dangerous. Once activated, all of the physical facilities of the 'Lighthouse' will be completely destroyed within three minutes, leaving nothing behind. This is my last line of defense, and a means of mutual destruction."

"Then use it." Lu Cheneng said without hesitation, "If the 'Lighthouse' is gone, we can rebuild it. But if the people are gone, then everything is gone."

Those words were like a huge rock dropped into Wen Shifei's heart, stirring up a thousand waves. She had always believed that a chaebol heir like Lu Cheneng would always prioritize assets and profits. She had never imagined he would so easily abandon a priceless secret base just to... escape? No, what she read in his eyes was more than just a desire to survive.

"Follow me!" Wen Shifei no longer hesitated and suddenly opened a secret compartment in the corner of the wall that was disguised as a toolbox, revealing a palm print reader that was gleaming with a faint blue light. She pressed her palm on it.

"Identity confirmed: Wen Shifei. Activate the 'scorched earth' protocol. Three-minute countdown begins." A cold electronic voice sounded.

The lights inside the entire "lighthouse" instantly turned into a dazzling scarlet, the humming sound of the server became sharp and piercing, and a burning smell began to spread.

"This way!" Wen Shifei rushed to a seemingly ordinary alloy wall on the other side of the room. With a powerful push, the wall silently slid inward, revealing a pitch-black hole barely wide enough for one person to pass through. A powerful stream of air roared out of the hole, carrying with it the strong, musty, and dusty smell of the underground.

"They've broken through the first layer of physical defense!" Lu Chenshang's wrist communicator—his privileged equipment as the heir to Tianshu, now a bug listening to enemy movements—received a cold order from the security force commander: "Team A, Team B, encircle from both flanks! Target individuals, one man and one woman, kill without mercy... Wait, Lu Shaodong's life signal is included? I repeat, Lu Shaodong and target 'Fei' are together!"

There was a hint of hesitation and shock in the commander's voice.

"It seems your 'disappearance' caught them off guard even more than I imagined." Wen Shifei curled his lips sarcastically, but his eyes were more serious. Lu Chenheng's identity undoubtedly made this pursuit more complicated and deadly.

The two of them entered the pitch-black passage, one in front and one behind. Behind them, the alloy door slammed shut, followed by a violent explosion and the sound of twisting metal. It was the "lighthouse" undergoing its final "purification."

A robot immediately turned its gun and locked onto Lu Chenentang.

"Fei!" Lu Chenshang shouted.

Wen Shifei understood what she meant, and just as the robot was about to fire, she suddenly threw the electromagnetic pulse jammer in her hand at the robot's head!

"Ziz-pop!" The jammer accurately struck the robot's head heat vent, unleashing a burst of intense electromagnetic sparks. The robot froze instantly, its red scanning eye flickering violently several times before going out.

But the other robot had already reacted, and aimed its thick gun barrel at Lu Chenentang who had just landed.

At the critical moment, Lu Cheneng had already grabbed a rusty iron pipe that was more than half a meter long. With incredible coordination and explosive power, he faced the robot's gun without retreating but advancing!

He was no longer the pampered heir to a wealthy chaebol; at that moment, he seemed to have transformed into a beast cornered. Far from confusing him, the torrent of emotions unleashed a powerful potential within him that he hadn't even realized was there.

"KANG!" The iron pipe hit the connection between the robot's tracks and the main body at a tricky angle! That was a relatively weak point in the structure.

The robot made a harsh metallic friction sound and its movements obviously faltered.

Lu Cheneng didn't give it any chance to breathe. He turned his wrist, and the other end of the iron pipe, like a poisonous snake coming out of a hole, accurately pierced into a gap in the robot's chest armor plate - that was the only flaw he found through instant observation and calculation!

"Crack!" A crisp sound.

The robot's huge body trembled violently, and the indicator light on its chest flashed wildly. Finally, like its companions, it completely lost power and paralyzed on the rails.
