Chapter 57: The Originator in the Deep Ruins

She walked to the gangway of the "Night Owl" assault boat without looking at Lin Mo. Her silver-gray eyes scanned the engine nozzles and weapon mounting points of the assault boat, as if she was quickly evaluating its performance parameters.

"Equipment?" Lin Mo asked in a deep voice, pointing to her empty hands.

Shen Qingli raised her metal-gloved right hand, fingers spread, palm facing upward. With a faint buzzing sound, the air a few centimeters above her palm suddenly twisted. A simple, matte black, forearm-length weapon, with sharp energy blades at each end, emerged from thin air. It hovered quietly, emitting a faint blue light.

"High-frequency particle oscillating blade. A component of the 'Siphon' protocol." She explained calmly. With a slight twist of her wrist, the suspended black spike flipped lightly like a living thing, instantly disintegrating into several smaller, shuttle-like components. These nimbly attached themselves to the backs of her metal gloves and the outsides of her arm armor, like growing black scales, emitting a restrained blue glow. "That's enough."

Matter generated out of thin air? Lin Mo's pupils shrank slightly. The level of technology displayed by Shen Qingli once again refreshed his cognition. This was definitely not the technology currently available in the ruins world! He forced himself to suppress the shock in his heart, stopped asking questions, and turned to the cockpit. "Let's go."

The "Night Owl" assault boat let out a low and powerful roar, and a dark blue ion stream sprayed out from its tail. The huge body, supported by the anti-gravity engine, rose vertically lightly and steadily, passed through the slowly opening huge dome gate, and rushed into the lead-gray low altitude of the ruined world with rolling toxic dust clouds.

Inside the cabin, only the low hum of the engine filled the air. Lin Mo sat in the driver's seat, concentrating on controlling the assault craft, navigating the complex low-altitude air currents and electromagnetic turbulence, dodging the occasional, ominous red flashes of the mechanical beast patrols that passed by on the ground. His movements were precise and skillful, an instinct honed by countless brinks of death.

Shen Qingli sat in the co-pilot seat, leaning back relaxedly, her eyes slightly closed. But she wasn't resting. An extremely faint, almost imperceptible blue halo, like a wave of water, silently spread out from her center, covering the entire cabin and faintly penetrating the assault boat's alloy hull, reaching out to the vast and dangerous ruins outside.

She was scanning. Using her extraordinary perception, she scanned the scorched earth, the twisted steel jungle, and the chaotic and dangerous stream of information that filled the air. She was searching for the remaining energy traces of the "beacon" and analyzing the possible threats deep within the ruins.

Lin Mo caught a glimpse of her calm profile and the barely perceptible blue glow from the corner of his eye. A feeling of humiliation and a deeper sense of vigilance washed over him once again. This woman was too dangerous, too mysterious. The mystery of the same origin coiled around him like a venomous snake.

Silence spread throughout the cabin, broken only by the roar of the engines and the occasional ticking of instruments.

"Eagle Eye Outpost No. 3, Initial Site Selection Exploration Report, No. E-107." Shen Qingli suddenly spoke, breaking the silence. Her voice was still clear, her eyes still closed, as if she were talking to herself, or perhaps she was stating a certain analysis to Lin Mo. "Report Conclusion: The underground remains of a large quantum communication relay station, abandoned at the end of a previous era, exist in this area. The structure is relatively intact, and its electromagnetic shielding performance is excellent. It is recommended to utilize its infrastructure to construct a deep early warning node."

Lin Mo's heart skipped a beat. Was this the record she had retrieved about Su Mu's mother? "Is this related to the 'beacon'?"

"The physical interface of the core sensor matrix of the early warning array that Dr. Su Yingxue was responsible for debugging was not directly embedded in the new structure of the outpost," Shen Qingli continued, his tone as flat as if he were reading a data report. "Instead... it was directly connected to the core data bus port deepest in the abandoned relay station."

What?! Lin Mo's grip on the joystick suddenly tightened! Directly connecting to the core of an unknown, abandoned facility from the past?! This is a high-risk operation absolutely prohibited by safety regulations! Professor Su...why would she do this?

"The report records show," Shen Qingli seemed to know what Lin Mo was asking, "that this operation was specially authorized by the base's highest technical committee at the time. The reason for the authorization was to utilize the remaining ultra-strong shielding force field of the relay station to enhance the early warning array's sensitivity to deep geological activity and weak spatial disturbances. The person who authorized it..." She paused slightly, as if searching for that forgotten name, "...Dr. Lin Zhenyuan."

Lin Zhenyuan?!

This name struck Lin Mo's mind like thunder! His hand gripping the joystick instantly stiffened, his knuckles turning white from excessive force! A cold electric current instantly ran through his body!

Lin Zhenyuan! This name… This name he had only glimpsed briefly in the most secret early archives of the base, in those vague records sealed by the highest authorities! The father who had disappeared with his mother when he was still a baby in a top-secret exploration operation codenamed "Echoes of the Abyss"…

My father's name! How could it be here?! In the record authorizing Su Mu's mother to perform a high-risk operation?!

A huge shock and confusion instantly overwhelmed Lin Mo! Father... Professor Su... abandoned relay station... "beacon"... and... the same origin? Countless fragmented clues frantically impacted his mind at this moment!

At the moment his mind was shaken and the joystick shifted ever so slightly—

Woo——!!!

The shrill radar warning sound pierced the eardrum like a steel needle!

On the main control screen, a crimson area, representing a high-intensity energy reaction, suddenly lit up in front of the green dot representing the assault boat! Simultaneously, on the charred ground below, several perfectly camouflaged artillery emplacements, previously obscured by the terrain and electromagnetic interference, suddenly unfurled their covers! Thick muzzles, flashing a dangerous red light, instantly lifted and charged!
