Chapter 64 Glandular Rebellion

Xu Shuangyao leaned against the cold metal, watching the advancing shadow hunter. Instead of despair, her face revealed a cold, almost frantic determination. The teeth marks on the side of her neck were faintly hot, and the residual bacterial blood on her fingertips mixed with Pei Du's blood, emitting a strange scent.

She knew she couldn't escape. But she bought Pei Du time to flee. And her value was far more than that. She was bait, poison, and... the only key that could unlock the "Crown of Thorns" that bound Pei Du.

"Come on..." she whispered to herself, flames burning in her cold eyes.

Just when the tracker's bone blade was about to touch her body!

Mutation regeneration!

Boom!!!

The entire metal cemetery suddenly shook violently! It was as if a giant beast was rolling over in the ground! The piles of wrecked server cabinets groaned and rubbed with teeth-grinding sounds, and huge chunks of rusted metal and condenser pipes fell like hail!

The pursuers' light bodies were shaken by the sudden violent vibration and their offensive was interrupted in an instant!

"Warning! High-energy geological activity detected! Unnatural force field interference!" The tracker's electronic voice was a little disordered.

Amidst the tremors, the ground not far in front of Xu Shuangyao suddenly arched upward! The hard concrete and metal baseplate tore and ripped apart like fragile paper! A massive, thick "root," gleaming with emerald green and silver-white light, erupted from the earth like a sleeping dragon awakening!

The root's shape was extremely bizarre, neither metal nor wood. Its surface was covered in veins resembling emerald jade, within which flowed silvery-white streams of light, like liquid metal! After breaking through the ground, it didn't attack anyone. Instead, as if possessed of life, its tip suddenly split and opened, forming a massive "hand" composed of countless tiny emerald green vines and silvery-white light. With overwhelming power and an ancient, gentle will, it fiercely slammed down upon the five pursuers!

boom!!!

Emerald green and silver-white light flashed! A violent energy shockwave, mixed with shattered metal and concrete, splattered everywhere!

The five pursuers were like being hit head-on by a high-speed train. Their mimic armor instantly twisted and deformed, and their dark blue electronic eyes exploded and went out! Smashed back by this sudden, unimaginable blow, they crashed like tattered sacks into the metal ruins in the distance, making a dull thud. Their bodies twitched a few times before they were completely still.

The vibrations slowly subsided.

The air was filled with smoke and dust.

Xu Shuangyao leaned against the cold metal, breathing heavily, looking at the huge strange roots that broke out of the ground in front of him, emitting soft emerald green and silver-white light, his eyes filled with extreme shock and confusion.

The giant "hand" at the tip of the root slowly retracted, regrouping into a root. It turned slightly toward Xu Shuangyao, its emerald green veins pulsating gently, emitting a gentle, soothing wave. An ethereal, clear sound, as if composed of countless leaves rubbing against each other and a forest breeze, resounded directly from the depths of Xu Shuangyao's consciousness, carrying a hint of curiosity and a touch of concern:

"The breath of thorns... entangled with the wailing of the web of life... Lost seed, you bleed. Do you need... help?"

The emerald green light of the roots softly fell on Xu Shuangyao's pale face, illuminating the bloody tooth marks on her neck and the complex light in her eyes that showed she had survived a catastrophe. The dead silence of the metal cemetery was broken by this sudden burst of life, foreshadowing an even more sinister and unpredictable fate.
