Pei Du felt like a stone cast into the deep sea, falling endlessly in the viscous darkness. Every heartbeat was as heavy as the beating of a drum, and every breath carried the heavy scent of blood and a sweet, fishy aroma similar to rotting plant roots. The dark gold lines covering his body dimmed to the extreme, like dying embers, and each faint flicker brought a tearing pain. Forcing logic to suppress the cracks, squeezing into the crevices with extreme flashes, nearly drained his already weakened body after being reshaped, and overdrawn the star core blood essence that had just stabilized.
The excruciating pain washed over his numb consciousness like an icy tide. But his clasped arms, like the strongest alloy shackles, held the sole weight within them tightly. Xu Shuangyao remained unconscious, her body as cold as jade. In the absolute darkness and deathly silence, her faint heartbeat and breathing became the only real presence in Pei Du's perception, like a faint starlight guiding his way in the darkness.

There was a dull sound, like a heavy object falling into a sticky mud.
The feeling of falling suddenly stopped. Instead, I felt completely enveloped in a cold, slippery, and highly corrosive, viscous substance. It felt like being dumped into the stomach of a giant beast.
Pei Du flung open his heavy eyelids. His golden pupils struggled to focus in the absolute darkness, the faint light deep within them barely dispelling the thick ink before his eyes.
He saw it clearly.
He was half-kneeling at the bottom of a vast, dark space. Beneath his feet was a bottomless, viscous, gelatinous liquid emitting a faint, pale green phosphorescence. This liquid was the source of the sweet, fishy smell of decay. Tiny bubbles constantly bubbled up from the depths, emitting an even stronger odor as they burst. Floating on the surface of the liquid were a mass of decaying plant debris, broken metal components, and even the white bones of enormous creatures long beyond recognition.
Surrounding the space were countless thick, twisted, coiled roots, writhing like giant pythons. These roots, a sickly dark brown, were covered in a thick, luminous, pus-like moss and a pale, mucus-dripping fungus. Like living blood vessels, they penetrated deeply into the slippery, dark-green rock walls surrounding them, entwining with one another to form the "skeleton" and "dome" of this vast underground space.
The air was filled with a sickening sweet smell of decay, mixed with thick humidity and an invisible feeling of mental oppression... as if billions of living beings were whispering in decay.
Here... is the deepest part of the Mother Tree's "root nest"! It's the very core of the underground labyrinth of the Abyss of Life, and the ultimate source of pollution and chaos! It's even more filthy and dangerous than the area where the Throne of Thorns lies!
"Ugh..." Pei Du tried to move, but a tearing pain and immense weakness washed over him. The aftereffects of forcibly exerting his energy were like maggots on his tarsal bones. He looked down at Xu Shuangyao in his arms. Her pale cheeks, illuminated by the surrounding pale green phosphorescence, looked even more fragile. What made his heart tighten even more was that beneath her skin, those subtle energy veins interwoven with pale gold and dark green, which had been forcibly suppressed by logic, now slowly wriggled and entangled beneath her skin like awakened venomous snakes! Emitting extremely unstable and heart-pounding energy fluctuations!
The chaotic, polluted energy at the Mother Tree's core was frantically stimulating the latent conflict within her! The remnants of the Cradle's cleansing process and the protective power of the Star Core Blood were like boiling oil poured over this filthy land, poised to explode at any moment!
We must find a relatively safe place to suppress it immediately!
Pei Du endured the excruciating pain and weakness, his molten golden pupils scanning the vast, foul root nest like searchlights. The viscous liquid stretched vast, and the floating debris resembled isolated islands. A coordinate point, a path outlined by cold data, winding beneath the viscous liquid, avoiding the dense, wriggling areas of roots, appeared clearly in Pei Du's suppressed consciousness. The path's end point was somewhere deep within the root nest, half-enshrouded by giant roots, with a faint metallic gleam visible.
