It no longer pays attention.
"Cradle Keeper, take the collection container and return to the fleet."
A cold order was issued.
The "Guardian" held the amethyst coffin and turned around without hesitation like the most loyal machine. It turned into a stream of dark purple light and followed the Purifier, flying towards the Observer's flagship that was like a huge mouth of the abyss.
The huge fleet of hunters, like ghosts that had completed their mission, began to tear through space silently. The huge ship shadows disappeared one by one in the distorted halo, disappearing in this star field that had just experienced annihilation, birth, hunting and sealing.
All that remained was the roiling Dawn Star destruction nebula, and at its core, the "stellar core" model that Dr. Owen had desperately created, emitting a strong false signal. It was like a giant tombstone burning with flames of destruction, mocking all the sacrifices and efforts.
On the "Watchman", deathly silence fell again.
As if his last bit of strength had been drained from Dr. Owen, his withered body slowly slid down the cold console, collapsing on the icy floor. His bloodshot eyes stared blankly at the false glow of the "star core" on the main screen, and the still-glaring "space annihilation reaction" symbol beside it. His last resort had only resulted in a trivial disruption and a false illusion. Lin Mo's mark vanished, Frost Medicine was formatted into a cold "caretaker," and Chen Xing was sealed away...
The real spark... is out?
His hand, covered in age spots, stretched out limply, its palm tightly clenched in a cold, sharp-edged fragment of dark golden stardust—the only remnant that had shattered from Xu Shuangyao's crumbling body when Lin Mo pushed her away, and was finally swept by the spatial turbulence near the Watcher. A few strands of broken hair, tinged with the scent of icy blue star flames, were entangled in the fragment...
On the scale of the universe, it is in the deep space that is incalculably far away from the coordinate point of the destruction of Dawn Star.
This wasn't a star field in the conventional sense. Space was a bizarre, distorted state, like a shattered kaleidoscope. Countless fractured spatial folds crisscrossed like the skeletons of a giant dragon. A rainbow of irregular, time-space turbulence roared and raged like a murky river through the shattered "canyons," emitting a silent roar. Time lost its linear meaning here, and fragments of the past and future flashed and vanished like shattered mirrors in the turbulence. This was a scar on the universe, a "rift in another dimension" formed by the complete collapse of the spatial structure, where even the laws of physics were thrown into chaos.
Absolute silence is the main theme here, except for the never-ending flow of time and space turbulence.
Deep in this chaotic and shattered void, there is a relatively "calm" "island" made up of solidified space fragments.
An extremely weak and dim dark golden light, like the last spark of a candle in the wind, flickered extremely hard and tenaciously.
At the core of the light lay an extremely thin, nearly transparent spiritual shadow. Lin Mo's features were vaguely recognizable, yet riddled with spiderweb-like cracks, as if poised to dissipate completely at any moment. This shadow was extremely unstable, sometimes clear, sometimes blurry, swirling in the chaotic flow of space and time, as if it would be completely shredded or swept into the unknown fragments of time in the next second.
This is the last remaining spiritual mark of Lin Mo.
Locked in by the deadly annihilation beam and on the verge of complete dissipation, the final burst of the planet's core's might collided with the laws of spacetime, creating a turbulent flow, and the interference of Dr. Owen's desperate false signal source, created a tiny ray of hope. A fortuitous crack in spacetime, leading to this cosmic "garbage dump," emerged as if by fate's mercy, drawing in the remaining trace, temporarily avoiding the final annihilation by the Observer and the Purifier.
Yet, this place was by no means a safe haven. The chaotic currents of time and space, like millions of invisible scrapers, continuously scoured and eroded this fragile imprint. Each impact of the turbulent currents dimmed the shadow, and the cracks deepened. Fragments of Lin Mo's memories, like dust swept by a raging wind, drifted and peeled away in this chaotic void.
The dawn of Dawn Star... the flames and final tears in Xu Shuangyao's icy blue eyes... Chenxing's pure icy blue eyes and the soft, sweet "Mom"... Dr. Owen's desperate roar... the icy pressure of the Observer Fleet... the all-wiping, purifying white light of the Purifier... Xu Shuangyao's final, empty gaze... Chenxing's huddled form sealed within the amethyst...
These images, like faded old photographs, flashed wildly through the shadow's consciousness, shattering and scattering. The intense pain came not from the body, but from the utter torture of having its soul ripped away, its very existence gradually erased. On the isolated island, the shadow trembled and twisted violently, silently "roaring," but it could not stop the rapid ebb of its memories and its own self.
"It's... going to dissipate..." A faint, vague thought, like a bubble sinking into the deep sea, rose within the shadow's consciousness as it neared complete collapse. Reluctance, anger, endless worry for Shuangyao and Chenxing... all these emotions seemed so pale and powerless in this chaotic space and time. He was almost depleted of even the strength needed to maintain this mark.
The shadow's light dimmed to its absolute limit. Its edges began to crumble into specks of dark golden stardust, greedily devoured and swept away by the turbulent currents of space and time. Consciousness felt like it was sinking into a bottomless sea of ice, the cold and emptiness rapidly drowning the last vestiges of perception.
At the moment when this mark was about to completely disappear into nothingness——
Buzz!
An extremely faint, yet extremely tenacious, cool breath, like the first ray of spring breeze penetrating the frozen soil of eternal night, suddenly and without warning seeped out from the depths of the mark's core... and extremely tenaciously...!
