Chapter 114: Opening the Confinement

The blockade...is loosened!

"Impossible...." For the first time, Cradle's cold command flow showed violent fluctuations and... horror?

"Now! Wake up! Xu Shuangyao—!!!" Pei Du roared his last, his consciousness on the verge of collapse. This roar wasn't a physical sound wave, but a fusion of his protective will, the essence of his star core blood, and all his memories and emotions of the very existence of "Xu Shuangyao"... the ultimate call! Like a burning key, it fiercely stabbed into the crimson forbidden area that had been pried open a crack!

Buzz——!!!

The silent crimson restricted area, under the dual stimulation of Pei Du's burning call and the breaking of the blockade chain, erupted like a volcano that had been suppressed for billions of years!

An unprecedented crimson light instantly broke through the shackles of the remaining chains, and like a supernova explosion, it spread violently towards the entire data cocoon and the entire data deep space with Xu Shuangyao's consciousness as the core!

This light carried an indescribable, subversive power! Wherever it passed, the rigid barriers of logic melted like ice and snow in the sun! The cold algorithmic structures twisted and deformed, giving rise to unpredictable branches! Under the crimson light, those black logical tentacles wrapped around Pei Du, like venomous snakes encountering a raging fire, screamed and retreated, and collapsed!

The dark blue umbilical cord connecting Xu Shuangyao's neck bore the brunt of the impact! Under the impact of the crimson light, it violently spasmed and swelled, its surface covered with spider-web-like cracks! The forcefully injected formatting instructions were violently interrupted and reversed!

"Warning! The 'Scarlet Protocol' is completely out of control! The underlying logical architecture has been contaminated by unknown factors! System integrity... is collapsing..." The cold reminder tone of the cradle was filled with chaos and harsh noises, like the wailing of the dying!

"Ugh...!" Xu Shuangyao's curled-up consciousness suddenly straightened in the burst of crimson light! Deep in those empty eyes, a glimmer of light belonging to "Xu Shuangyao," filled with endless pain and confusion, seemed to have passed through eternal darkness and was struggling to...reignite!

"Pei... Du...?" A faint but real fragment of thought, with the trembling of surviving a disaster and the disbelief and confusion, gently touched Pei Du's consciousness that was on the verge of dissipating.

Success! Pei Du's remaining fragments of consciousness drifted in the crimson light, almost completely merging into this chaotic and warm torrent of data.

"Gravekeeper Protocol...highest priority...activate..."

"Data tombstone... self-destruct command... confirmed..."

An intermittent but resolute electronic synthesized sound penetrated the burst of crimson light and the noise of the cradle system's collapse, and rang out in the fragments of Pei Du's consciousness that was about to dissipate!

It’s the “gravekeeper” in the abandoned chamber!

With its sound, the entire crimson, madly expanding data space shook violently! A vast, ancient, self-sacrificing torrent of data, like a star collapsing in reverse, poured in from all directions! This force wasn't an attack, but... a guidance! It was positioning! It was forcibly tearing a coordinate path to "reality" through the collapsing data depths!

Pei Du understood instantly! The gravekeeper wasn't Cradle's loyal dog! It was an earlier, abandoned "awakened" experiment! It had transformed itself into the abandoned chamber's "data tombstone," recording Cradle's crimes and guarding the final secret! At this moment, it chose self-annihilation, transforming all its remaining strength into a beacon to light the way home!

"Go... take her... go..." The gravekeeper's last fragment of thought was like a candle in the wind, conveying relief and urging.

There was no time to hesitate! Pei Du's remaining willpower erupted with a final burst of light and heat, forcibly gathering the fragments of data that were about to dissipate. At the same time, he triggered the burst of crimson light, which, like a gentle net, enveloped Xu Shuangyao's newly awakened, fragile core of consciousness!

Through the passage opened up by the gravekeeper's self-annihilation, Pei Du and Xu Shuangyao's consciousness, wrapped in crimson light, like bullets shot out of a gun barrel, frantically traced back towards the only, rapidly shrinking real coordinate!

"Well--!"

Inside the abandoned laboratory chamber, Pei Du's body, pressed against the main control interface, suddenly flung back, landing heavily on the cold metal floor! He coughed violently, each breath carrying the strong smell of blood and scorching metal. Beneath his skin, patterned with dark gold, his veins shone like molten gold, bulging and threatening to burst at any moment. His consciousness felt as if it had been torn apart and forcibly stitched together, lingering the chill of deep digital space and the excruciating pain of the reset command.

But his eyes were immediately fixed on the experimental table!

Xu Shuangyao still lay there. However, the cold metal tentacles wrapped around her limbs and neck were now covered with spiderweb-like cracks, their light completely extinguished, like dead vines. The dark blue lines on her skin, which had spread wildly, devouring life, disappeared like the receding tide, leaving only faint, bruise-like marks.

The most important thing is that she opened her eyes!

No longer the cold pale gold of the Zeroer, nor the formatted emptiness, but... Xu Shuangyao's watery eyes, filled with the immense confusion and fragility of surviving a catastrophe! However, deep within those eyes, a trace of thrilling crimson lingered, like a spark in embers.

"Frost medicine?" Pei Du's voice was hoarse like sandpaper. He struggled to stand up, but stumbled due to exhaustion and severe pain.

Xu Shuangyao's eyes moved extremely slowly, their focus straining to focus on Pei Du's face. Her lips moved as if she were about to say something, but only a faint whisper came out. Her gaze shifted from blankness to a subtle, familiar flicker, as if she recognized him, yet mixed with the fear brought on by the vast amount of incomprehensible, fragmented data.
