Chapter 30 The End of the Chaebol

"Don't touch him!" Wen Shifei screamed!

Too late!

Lu Cheneng's mithril left arm, emitting a dazzling silver light, swept out like an awakened steel snake, carrying a shrill scream that tore through the air and a violent metallic resonance! Target - the approaching Ajie!

Bang!!!

A loud bang that was extremely dull!

Ajie felt an overwhelming force, like a head-on collision with a high-speed hovercraft, slam into his chest! The sound of his sternum shattering was audible! He didn't even have time to scream before he was sent flying backwards like a broken sack, slamming heavily into a pile of rotting garbage a dozen meters away! Fresh, sweet blood mingled with fragments of internal organs gushed out! His vision went black, and he instantly lost consciousness!

"Ajie——!!!" Wen Shifei's scream was heartbreaking, and tears instantly blurred her vision! She looked at Lu Cheneng, who slowly stood up like a metal demon, his right eye burning with cold silver flames. The huge grief and despair completely overwhelmed her!

Lu Cheneng remained unresponsive to Ajie's plight. His right eye, blazing with silver flames, slowly shifted, finally locking onto Wen Shifei, who collapsed to the ground, her face streaked with tears. Mithril raised his left arm, fingers spread, palm pointed at her! Beneath the skin of his palm, violent silver-white energy gathered and compressed frantically, the surrounding air humming with the weight of this terrifying energy fluctuation! Countless tiny metal fragments, pulled by an invisible force, swirled around his arm like a metallic storm!

Killing intent! Cold and pure killing intent!

Wen Shifei looked at the mithril hand aimed at her, about to unleash its destructive energy, and at the completely unfamiliar, cold, silver-white flame in Lu Cheneng's eyes. Her heart was broken. It was over... It was all over...

At this critical moment!

Lu Chen's body suddenly stiffened! Deep within his right eye, blazing with silver flames, a sudden, violent struggle flashed across his mind! Like a whirlpool suddenly exploding beneath the surface of a frozen lake! That struggle was filled with extreme pain and confusion, as if two souls were engaging in a brutal battle within this body!

His raised arm trembled violently, and the silver-white energy ball condensed in his palm became extremely unstable, flickering! A suppressed, painful roar like a dying beast emanated from his throat!

"Qing...Yi...No...Get out of here!!!"

A vague word, full of endless pain and violence, came out of his mouth intermittently!

This roar, like thunder, struck Wen Shifei's consciousness, which was on the verge of collapse! Qingyi! Was it Qingyi's consciousness influencing him?! Trying to stop him?!

This thought was like a flash of lightning in the darkness, instantly igniting Wen Shifei's last shred of hope! She screamed desperately, her voice filled with tears and a plea from the depths of her soul: "Chen En! Wake up! Qingyi needs you! She's waiting for you! She's still in the hands of that Number Zero! The chaebol wants to use her for experiments! As a key! To unlock the monsters underground! She needs you! Lu Chen En——!!!"

"Qingyi...key...monster..."

In Lu Chen's right eye, a glimmer of human agony and struggle instantly magnified! Like a raging fire, he clutched his head, letting out a shrill, inhuman roar! The violent energy of his left Mithril arm instantly lost control, slamming fiercely into the massive mountain of rusted metal garbage beside him!

boom--!!!

A deafening bang!

Violent silver-white energy slammed into the mountain of garbage like a torrent of destruction! Solid metal was torn, twisted, and melted like paper! Countless piles of rotting garbage were blasted into the sky, like a torrential downpour of filth! The entire landfill shook violently!

The smoke and dust filled the air, obscuring the view.

When the smoke and dust cleared slightly, Wen Shifei struggled to look up and saw Lu Cheneng kneeling on one knee at the edge of the massive crater created by the explosion, his left arm supporting the ground, his head bowed, and he was breathing heavily. The dazzling silver-white light on his arm had faded like the tide, leaving only a faint remnant of silver light flickering in the cracks. The silver-white fire in his right eye had disappeared, replaced by a bottomless exhaustion, pain, and a near-fainting loss. Sweat mixed with stained blood dripped down his angular jawline.

The devastating blow just now seemed to have exhausted the violent power in his body and temporarily suppressed the cold will of destruction.

Wen Shifei rolled and crawled to Ajie's side. Ajie was lying in a filthy garbage dump, his chest was sunken, and foamy blood kept gushing out of his mouth. His breath was as weak as a candle in the wind.

"Ajie! Hold on! Ajie!" Wen Shifei cried and tore off the corner of his tattered clothes, trying frantically to block the wound on his chest, but the blood instantly soaked the cloth.

Lu Cheneng slowly raised his head and took in Ajie's miserable condition. Instantly, a flood of guilt and self-blame surged through his weary, pained eyes, threatening to drown him. He struggled to stand, but his body swayed, nearly falling again. The backlash from his left Mithril Arm and the complete release of his energy had left him utterly weakened.

"Let's go..." Wen Shifei raised her tearful eyes and looked at Lu Chenhang. Her voice was hoarse but filled with unquestionable determination. "Take him away... head west... and find 'Old Gun'... This is the only way for Ajie... and us... to survive... Hurry!"

Lu Cheneng watched Wen Shifei's eyes, a glimmer of deep sorrow and a final glimmer of hope, then glanced at Ajie, who was barely breathing. His only remaining right eye fluttered shut, and when he opened it again, only a near-numb weight of blood debt remained. He gritted his teeth, bracing himself against the excruciating pain as he stumbled to Ajie's side. With his uninjured right arm, he laboriously lifted Ajie's heavy body onto his shoulders. Every step felt like treading on the edge of a knife.
