Chapter 149 Extra Chapter 3: Lullaby of Embers

Time resets to zero.

No sound.

In other words, at that moment, all sounds were completely erased by a more fundamental and vast existence.

At the edge of their new home system, far from the wreckage of Dawn, beneath the vast observation dome of the Watcher, a deathly silence reigned. Every survivor who had managed to escape aboard—Owen, a handful of higher-ups, technicians, and soldiers—stood like frozen statues, glued to the cold observation windows, their pupils dilated to the limit with sheer terror.

At the end of the field of vision, where the Dawn Star is located.

A ray of light.

A silver-white light that is extremely pure and transcends all human color cognition, like the first will of creation, was born from nothingness and expanded instantly!

It silently pierced the thick crust, tearing apart the last remnants of Dawn's stellar structure. Dawn Harbor, the rolling mountain ranges, the vast ocean... before this ray of light, like mist beneath the sun, they couldn't even utter a cry before being instantly disintegrated, vaporized, and reverted to the universe's most primordial stream of particles! That wasn't the light of an explosion; it was the declaration of existence itself being forcibly "erased"!

Then, the prelude to destruction truly began.

That cosmic silver-white light was merely a fuse. The next second, an indescribable torrent of energy, containing the mass and fury of a planet, erupted from the very core of the light at a speed beyond imagination! It was no longer light, but a seething, all-destructive tide of chaos!

Space, the curtain of the universe, groaned under the weight of this torrent. Visible spatial ripples, like the surface of a lake into which a boulder had been dropped, radiated wildly in a perfect sphere, centered on the remains of Dawn Star! Wherever the ripples passed, space itself took on strange, distorted patterns, like shattered glass, as if poised to completely disintegrate at any moment! Small meteorite belts unfortunate enough to be caught in the ripples' path were instantly reduced to dust, as if swept by an invisible giant hand, leaving not even a trace of residue.

And Dawn Star itself, a planet that carries countless lives and dreams, is like a fragile soap bubble in the face of this ultimate power that comes from within and is driven by the explosion of the Star Seed.

It silently and completely... disintegrated.

There were no earth-shattering explosions, only a visually stunning display of violence. Solid core matter, boiling mantle molten rock, thick crustal plates—the billions of tons of matter that made up the planet were effortlessly torn apart, scattered, and melted in this violent release of energy! A nebula, composed of billions of fragments, emitting a dazzling silver-white and dark red glow, rapidly expanded from the site of the former Dawn Star. It tumbled and roared (though silently), like a deadly flower of death blooming in the vacuum of space, each "petal" a planetary debris and a stream of superheated plasma powerful enough to instantly vaporize a battleship!

Silver-white is the afterglow of the original power of the Star Seed, carrying with it a purifying anger.

Dark red is the mark of the complete melting and destruction of planetary matter, and it is the boiling blood and tears of Dawn Star.

This flower of death greedily devoured everything around it - thin interstellar dust, escaped satellite fragments, and even the dark purple chaotic energy pouring down from the shattered void, all were sucked into, crushed, and assimilated by this violent nebula vortex.

The Watcher was like a small boat in a raging storm. Even though it had long since moved away from the center of the explosion and its strongest energy shields activated, it was still struck hard by the sweeping spatial ripples! The violent vibrations caused the hull to emit a piercing metallic groan. The reinforced glass of the observation windows was instantly covered with spiderweb-like cracks. The lights inside the ship flickered wildly, and the gravity system sounded a dangerous overload alarm. Everyone was thrown against the bulkhead or the floor by the tremendous force, and the muffled thud of bones colliding and the suppressed groans of pain echoed one after another.

"Hold steady! Reverse the main engine's jet! Stabilize the attitude with maximum power!" the captain roared, with blood oozing from the corners of his mouth.

Owen struggled to get up from the cold floor, his face covered in blood and dust pressed against the cracked observation window. His cloudy eyes were almost bleeding as he frantically searched the core area of the nebula, which was rolling and expanding and filled with destructive light.

Nothing... nothing... except violent energy turbulence and the core matter melted into liquid...

"No… Impossible…" Owen's cracked lips trembled, a sound like sandpaper scraping against each other. The Cradle Project, the heir to the Spark he had so deeply cherished… had it truly been annihilated in this cosmic destruction? Was it, along with the planet that had detonated itself, devastating the Observer, completely vanished? The immense grief and even deeper despair gripped his heart like a cold iron clamp, making it nearly impossible to breathe.

A dead silence reigned within the ship, broken only by the hum of overloaded engines and the creaking of the ship's structure under immense strain. The sense of relief at having survived was crushed before the sight of utter, final destruction. Like Owen, everyone stared in despair at the all-consuming nebula, their faces a deadening numbness. Dawn Star was gone, as were Lord Lin Mo and Lord Shuangyao... What remained for the future of their new home?

Just then—

Buzz!

A strange wave, like the first warm breeze blowing across the ice during the spring thaw, or like a mother's gentle whisper soothing her baby to sleep, swept across the "Watchman" without warning, sweeping across every soul frozen by despair.

This wave, invisible and intangible, carried an ineffable sense of order, rooted in the most fundamental laws of the universe. It penetrated the sturdy hull, disregarding the turbulent spatial currents, soothing the deepest consciousness of every survivor. The soul-wrenching coldness and despair brought on by witnessing the destruction of planets and the fall of heroes was miraculously alleviated by this wave.
