Chapter 41 Mourning and Oasis

This is the "obstacle" that is clearing the door!

"Do it!" A cold, emotionless male voice shouted from inside the door.

The door was suddenly yanked open from the inside! Two figures, clad in matte black tight-fitting combat uniforms and covered in streamlined, multi-functional tactical masks, emerged like ghosts! Their movements were lightning-fast, their micro-pulse pistols pointed without hesitation at Wrench and Hook, who had just tumbled to their feet and barely found cover! The muzzles instantly lit up with a deadly red light!

A critical moment!

The moment the two Shadow agents pulled the trigger, a figure moved even faster than them! I shot out from behind the supporting column where I was hiding, like a spring at full force! No roar, no warning, only a shriek that ripped through the air! My target wasn't the armed agents, but the rain-soaked metal plate beneath their feet, covered in a layer of slippery moss!

My right foot was like a battle axe, carrying all the strength and momentum of my body, stomping hard on the edge of the cover!

Snap! Bang!

The rusted, fragile metal cover shattered and lifted up! The foul-smelling, muddy water below, like a swamp beast awakened, mixed with broken metal fragments and slippery moss, suddenly splashed up! The turbid water and mud accurately splashed onto the lower bodies of the two agents!

This sudden, filthy, and primitive attack completely exceeded the top agents' expectations for a combat scenario! Their movements inevitably became a bit sluggish and unbalanced! The energy beams aimed at "Wrench" and "Hook" instantly lost their aim, and two red beams grazed their scalps and shot into the rain behind them!

"Looking for death!" An agent growled in anger, and the muzzle of his gun turned instantly, and the blazing red light locked onto my figure!

Just as he was about to pull the trigger—

Deep within the core of the Data Heart, the gentle energy stream, emanating from the Oasis, surged forth without warning, with unprecedented intensity! No longer gentle, it carried a cold, absolute grip! My vision shifted instantly! No longer the world visible to the naked eye, but countless streams of zeros and ones, representing the fundamental laws of physics and the flow of energy! The agent's arm holding the gun, the muscle signals as he pulled the trigger, the trajectory of the energy gathering within the gun... all the information was as clear as reading the lines on the palm of your hand!

The thought, like an invisible command, was instantly dispatched! Target: an extremely tiny logic checkpoint inside the opponent's firearm, crucial to the stability of the energy circuit!

[Command: Inject Logic Conflict (Priority: Highest). Target: Enemy Weapon System - Core Verification Protocol (Node ID: Gamma-7).]

Buzz!

The pulse pistol in the agent's hand, ready to unleash a death beam, suddenly stopped humming like a rooster being strangled! The red light from the muzzle flickered wildly like a lightbulb with poor contact, then went out completely! A faint, burnt smoke rose from the heat dissipation vents on the gun! The weapon instantly overloaded and locked!

The agent froze in an instant, his masked face expressionless, but his slightly frozen body language clearly conveyed immense shock and disbelief! The weapon he relied on for survival, like an extension of his body, had actually... "malfunctioned" at this critical moment?

This fatal delay of less than half a second is enough for veterans like "Wrench" and "Hook"!

"Well done, Boss!" Wrench roared, leaping from the ground like a wounded tiger. His fist, the size of a bowl, whistled with the sound of wind as it slammed into the face of the agent whose weapon had been disabled! At the same time, Hook rolled in like a cat, delivering a ferocious sweeping kick that struck the other agent's lower body! The two of them coordinated perfectly, instantly dragging the two top "Shadows" into a close-quarters fight!

I didn't even pause, not even to see the results of my fight. Using the slippery ground as leverage, I slid sideways, slipping through the gap between the two agents and Wrench, like a fish swimming through the gap between them. I directly smashed open the heavy, half-closed blast-proof door and rushed into the "nest"!

The scene before me almost made my blood freeze!

The makeshift command center was in shambles. Several metal plates serving as workbenches had been overturned, leaving wiring and parts scattered everywhere. The air was thick with the ozone smell of burning energy weapons and the faint scent of blood. Seven or eight members of the Deep Ones, including the logistics officer "Screw" and the data analyst "Matrix," stood pale against the wall, their heads in their hands, as three similarly dressed "Shadow" agents pointed their weapons, afraid to move. Two more team members lay motionless on the ground, dark red blood oozing from their bodies. Their fate was unknown.

The heart of the battle is in the center of the room!

Leah! Her back was to me, yet her petite figure now erupted with astonishing strength and resilience! She leaned against the massive main server cabinet for cover, clutching a high-frequency maintenance cutter that flickered with unstable arcs—clearly a "weapon" she'd grabbed in a moment of desperation. A charred burn mark etched across the left shoulder of her combat uniform, its edges tinged with dark red blood, clearly indicating injury. But her eyes, always gleaming with intelligence, now burned with an unyielding fire as she stared fixedly ahead.

Her opponents were three Shadow agents, surrounding her in a fan-shaped formation. The leader was exceptionally tall, yet incredibly agile. His mask-covered face revealed only his eyes, as cold as a frozen pond, devoid of any emotion. He held a strangely shaped energy pistol with a trident-shaped muzzle, the muzzle locked firmly between Leah's eyebrows. The other two slowly closed in from the flank, blocking any possibility of Leah's escape.
