He seemed to be calculating rapidly. The footsteps of the pursuers behind him, though distant, hadn't vanished, and were drawing ever closer. Clearly, they too possessed expert trackers. Circumvention took time, and time was precisely what they lacked.
"Force your way through!" Lu Chen entropy declared decisively, his voice hoarse but full of power. He gripped the hilt of the Demon Blade tightly. Although the energy from the Mithril Arm was shielded, the blade's sharp edge and mercury-like gleam still exuded a dangerous aura. With his sister by his side, he would not allow anything to stand in their way!
The mysterious man's electronic compound eyes turned to Lu Chenentang, and the deep red light flickered slightly, as if assessing his condition and determination.
"Prepare for battle." A cold electronic voice commanded. The mechanical arm restraining Lu Qingyi adjusted its position, securing her more tightly to its side. The other, black-armored mechanical arm lifted, its wrist armor sliding open, revealing the honeycomb-shaped launcher and... an alloy arm blade gleaming with a cold, eerie light!
He took the lead and stepped into the gap that emitted an ominous light and a strong stench.
Lu Chenshang, Wen Shifei and Ajie followed closely behind.
The scene before them made even the three people who had experienced the bloody battle in the sewer feel a chill running down their spines to their heads!
This was a massive, abandoned water treatment pond, transformed into a makeshift lair. The bottom had long since dried up, coated in a thick, sticky black sludge and unidentified debris. The walls were littered with thick, rusted pipes and broken metal brackets. The faint light came from a few damaged emergency lights high up in the wall, their exposed wiring still flickering a faint green glow, casting a spooky, eerie atmosphere throughout the space.
And in the shadows of the pool bottom and surrounding pipes, densely packed! Countless pairs of crimson eyes lit up in the dim green light, like countless lights lit in hell! They were countless mutated giant rats! Their bodies were even larger and more twisted than those encountered in the sewers! Some had deformed bone spurs growing on their backs, some had festering skin, revealing dark purple, pulsating energy veins beneath, and some even had extra, fang-studded heads!
In the center of the nest, there is a pile of disgusting "materials" like a small mountain - the decaying corpses of animals, the remains of human limbs (wearing fortress uniforms), broken metal parts... and on top of these rotten things, there is a creepy "matrix"!
It resembled a massive tumor, formed by the forced fusion and expansion of countless mutated giant rats! Countless tentacles, each tipped with claws or suction cups, resembling giant intestines, stretched out from the tumor, slowly wriggling at the bottom of the filthy pool! At the center of the tumor, a massive, dark purple energy core pulsated like a heart, emitting an ominous glow! The suffocatingly strong smell of pollution and biological energy fluctuations originated from this very source!
“Hiss—!!!”
As if sensing the intruder's presence, the giant tumorous matrix let out a piercing, distorted roar! It was like a horn of attack!

The entire lair erupted in a turmoil! Countless mutated giant rats, like a black tide, gushed forth from all directions, from beneath the piles of rotting corpses, from the mouths of rusted pipes! Ignoring their overwhelming numerical disadvantage, driven mad by the contamination and their mother's power, they fearlessly pounced upon the few people at the breach! Their crimson eyes gleamed with pure destructive desire beneath the emerald light!
"Fire!" Ajie's roar and the roar of the shotgun exploded simultaneously! The muzzle spewed out blazing flames, blasting the giant rats in the front! Smelly flesh and shattered fur rained down like raindrops!
Wen Shifei suppressed the dizziness, pulled out his laser pistol, and concentrated his mental strength to carry out the most basic point shooting. Each beam of light was accurately shot at the relatively vulnerable eyes or energy vein nodes of the giant rat. Although it could not cause large-scale casualties, it effectively slowed down the impact speed of some rats.
Lu Cheneng didn't move. He stood slightly in front of Wen Shifei and Ajie, his demonic blade held across his body. Each swing was accompanied by the "sizzling" sound of flesh being sliced open and the agonizing howls of the mutated giant rats as they died! The blade's cuts were precise and deadly, specifically targeting joints, necks, and energy cores! The honeycomb launcher on his other wrist also continuously ejected small explosives or high-energy electric shock bombs, causing small-scale chaos and casualties among the rats.
