Finally! Near the end of the notebook, the handwriting becomes extremely sloppy and rapid, and the ink is darker, as if the writer was under great pressure or urgency:
"...Anomalies in the core defense structure! Non-standard energy fluctuations detected...like...like the smell of an 'old house'! (An extremely sloppy, abstract symbol with wings was drawn next to it, the lines twisted and sharp)...This is not spontaneous AI! There is a 'ghost' controlling it! "...It's too late! They've activated 'Touch of Shadow'! A trap! It's targeting the 'Deep One'! Targeting the boss! Go! Take the data! Find... 'Oasis'! Only there... can we resist the legacy of 'Wings'... The key... is in 'Heart'... (The last few words are almost too faint to read)"
My breathing stopped instantly!
The smell in the "old house"? Wing Biotech! That symbol! The mark of torn wings! Ethan had noticed it long ago! He recognized Raven's handiwork! He even knew Raven wasn't dead, but was at the core of the "hive"! He tried to leave a warning, but it was too late! He finally pointed to the "Oasis," saying it was the place where the "Wing Legacy" could be fought! The key... is in the "heart"? Is that my "Data Heart"?
"Boss! There's movement outside! They're deploying heavy weapons!" Hook's low, tense voice interrupted my shock. He pointed outside the gaping hole in the warehouse, where several figures could be seen setting up some kind of multi-barrel launcher. The cold metallic sheen gleamed in the rain.
The pursuers have completed the encirclement and are deploying the final fatal blow!
Just then!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A deafening roar of artillery fire suddenly erupted from the other side of the warehouse! It wasn't aimed at the warehouse we were in, but rather at the corporate pursuers who were deploying their weapons!
Caught off guard! A violent explosion instantly erupted in the pursuers' formation! Flames shot up into the sky, dirt and broken equipment were thrown high into the air! Screams and roars of fear and anger were drowned out by the explosion!
"What's going on?!" Wrench stuck his head out in surprise and joy.
Behind the warehouse, on the elevated rooftop of an abandoned factory building, several figures appeared like ghosts! They wore camouflaged uniforms that blended in with the surroundings, their weapons spitting flames—shoulder-fired anti-armor rocket launchers and heavy railgun sniper rifles! Their firepower was precise and ferocious, instantly disrupting the corporate pursuers' deployment!
"It's 'Mole'! And 'Peregrine'!" Matrix exclaimed in surprise. He recognized two agile figures through the broken lenses of his glasses - they were the team members who were lost during the previous breakout!
"Deep Diver! Never Walk Alone!" A resonant and familiar voice pierced through the din of explosions and rain, carrying with it the excitement of a desperate reunion! It was the "Peregrine Falcon," the outer reconnaissance pilot!
Survive from desperate situation!
"It's them! They're here to pick us up!" Wrench was so excited that he almost jumped up.
"Don't just stand there! Cover with fire! Break out in their direction!" I immediately suppressed the turmoil in my heart and gave a stern order! The shock and information brought by Ethan's notes must be temporarily put aside. Survival is the only truth at this moment!
"clear!"
Wrench and Hook instantly roared with ecstasy, raised their weapons, and opened fire fiercely at the Corporate pursuers, who were stunned by the sudden attack! Energy beams and electromagnetic projectiles intertwined into a web of death, suppressing the enemy's counterattack! The other members who could move also opened fire. Although the firepower was weak, it created a momentum to break through!
Under the cover of the precise firepower from the "Peregrine" and "Mole" squads, we rushed out from the gap in the warehouse like a flood that broke through the dam, and under the sparse counterattack fire, we rushed to the high ground occupied by friendly forces, one step deep and one step shallow in the mud and ruins!
The cold rain washed away the blood and gunpowder from their faces. Underfoot lay slippery mud and broken rubble. Leah, half-carried by Wrench, was half-conscious, but the corners of her mouth seemed to twitch. The wound on Hook's arm opened again as he ran, blood staining his sleeves red. He gritted his teeth and said nothing. Everyone was in a state of disarray, scarred, but the fire burning in their eyes was even hotter than the sea of fire engulfing the "nest" behind them.
"Quick! Over here!" Peregrine Falcon leaped down from the roof to meet us. His face was also stained by smoke and fire, but his eyes were still sharp.
We supported each other and finally reached the relative safety of the abandoned rooftop. Below, the Corporate pursuers, caught off guard and having lost several heavy weapons and personnel, began to reorganize their formation, but were clearly hampered by the sudden attack and the terrain, preventing them from launching an effective attack.
"Boss! How are you?" Peregrine looked at us, a group of remnants who looked like they had crawled out of hell, and his voice was heavy.
"I won't die." I gasped, my eyes sweeping over the group of equally exhausted but determined support personnel. "How did you find this place?"
"It's Ethan!" A short and stocky member of the team, codenamed "Mole," wiped the rain from his face and choked up. "He... he finally sent out encrypted coordinates on the public channel, saying it was... an emergency assembly point! It also came with a top-priority self-destruct countdown command! By the time we received it, it was already too late. We had no choice but to rush here! Just as we were getting ready, we saw you guys being chased this way by those bastards!"
