The overwhelming sense of exhaustion after surviving the catastrophe and the boundless awe of the two figures atop the tower left them speechless.
Pei Du slowly withdrew his arm. The pitch-black energy flames that enveloped him receded like a tide, revealing a pale face covered in dark gold lines. The light in his molten-gold eyes dimmed slightly, clearly the forceful channeling of that destructive energy torrent had taken a heavy toll on him. He panted slightly, his cold gaze piercing the thinning smoke and dust, directed towards the direction of the deep-space orbital attack. There, the attacker's presence was rapidly receding and fading.
"Gone." His voice was hoarse with fatigue.
Xu Shuangyao walked over to him, worry on her equally pale face, and gently took his hand, which hung at his side. The thorn imprint resonated hotly in their palms, conveying strength and comfort.
