Chapter 158 The Truth About the Disappearance

Ye Yunniang sat up straight and looked at Tao Hong, "Where have you seen me before?"

"A gloomy old woman with triangular eyes standing next to Xing Jinxiu."

"Thank you." Ye Yunniang noted it down.

Back at their lodgings, Ye Yunniang told Jiang Mingzhe what Tao Hong had said, asking him to help analyze why Xing Jinxiu would target her.

Ye Yunniang thought carefully and realized that she had no grudge against Xing Jinxiu.

"Xing Jinxiu mistook you for Shushu's mother, the woman Bao Min hid away."

After hearing Jiang Mingzhe's speculation, Ye Yunniang looked relieved, "Luckily, Xing Jinxiu was wrong."

After moving into the prefectural government office, Cai Damei fell ill and became very weak.

Thinking of the suffering she endured during her abduction, I realized that if it were Cai Damei, she probably wouldn't have survived to reach Beijiang City.

If Cai Damei gets into trouble, Ye Yunniang won't be able to survive.

Jiang Mingzhe once again deeply realized the importance of Cai Damei in Ye Yunniang's heart.

She was plotting how to replace Cai Damei in Ye Yunniang's heart.

In Jiangcheng Prefecture, Cai Damei also learned the truth about Ye Yunniang's disappearance from Bao Min.

On the rainy night when Bao Shuyi had a fever, he kept calling for his mother. Ye Yunniang did not correct him while taking care of him.

The doctor who was treating the patient observed all of this.

Under Xing Wenzhi's generous bribe, the doctor recounted everything he had seen in the prefectural government office.

Xing Wenzhi was convinced that Ye Yunniang was the woman Bao Min had hidden away.

Xing Jinxiu knew that the first thing she wanted to do was kill Ye Yunniang. But then she felt that killing her wouldn't be enough to vent her anger, so she instructed her servants to give Ye Yunniang to human traffickers.

They sent traffickers to take Ye Yunniang to the Yan Kingdom and sold her to a family with many brothers.

"You already found out."

“When you talk about dreams, I’m 70% sure it was Xing Wenzhi who had them.”

Xing Wenzhi was very careful; Bao Min only found circumstantial evidence. Adding to the woes, the heavy rains nearly flooded Jiangcheng, requiring the entire prefectural government to work together to overcome the crisis.

Bao Min suppressed the matter concerning Ye Yunniang.

Now that the drought and floods have ended, people are returning to their normal lives.

Bao Min will thoroughly investigate Xing Wenzhi and give Cai Damei an explanation.

"I don't want an explanation," Cai Damei said coldly, disappointed in Bao Min.

"Madam, it is I,"

"Yunniang, have you found it?" Cai Damei interrupted Bao Min's explanation; she didn't want to hear it.

“Tong Mo will go to Yan to look for her; he will definitely bring Ye Yunniang back.” Bao Min believed in his nephew’s abilities.

Cai Damei didn't ask any more questions and got up to go into the inner room to rest.

Bao Min knew that Cai Damei was angry with him, so he stepped forward to explain his predicament.

"My lord, an urgent report from the capital!" A servant outside the door announced, causing Bao Min to stop in his tracks.

Bao Min turned to attend to official business, and returned after he finished.

Cai Damei and her children are no longer here, and much of what belonged to them is gone.

They sent people to Wanxia Lane, but couldn't find her. Upon further inquiry, they learned that Cai Damei had left through the North Gate in a carriage with the children.

They were escorted away by bodyguards from a security company.

Bao Min, in his capacity as prefect, learned of this from the escort agency. Cai Damei placed an order for the agency to escort her and her five grandchildren to Beijiang City.

As the prefect of Jiangcheng, Bao Min could not leave the city. He sent Luo Xin with men to pursue her, instructing him to "protect the lady at all costs."

"Yes," Luo Xin replied, and led his men to give chase.

Bao Min looked toward the prefectural office, telling his wife to leave him; he was determined to destroy the Xing family.

"Grandma, can we not tell Grandpa Bao?" Li Pan was worried that Bao Min would be anxious if he couldn't find them.

“He doesn’t need to know,” Cai Damei said indifferently.

"Is Mother really in Beijiang City?" Li An was more concerned about Ye Yunniang's whereabouts.

"Yes," Cai Damei confirmed.

"I wonder if Mother is hurt?"

"Mother will be alright."

"We will find our mother."

Ye Yunniang was unaware that her family, whom she missed, was on their way to Beijiang City.

After bidding farewell to her acquaintances, Ye Yunniang boarded a carriage and left Green City.

Unlike the cramped and crowded carriages we arrived in, this time it was different.

The carriage that Ye Yunniang rode in was not only spacious but also had thick cushions.

If you get tired of sitting, you can lie down directly.

Ye Yunniang didn't lie down; she sat inside the carriage, learning from Jiang Mingzhe how to keep accounts and read ledgers.

The Baise embroidery shop belongs to her, and she needs to run it well.

I learned a little about bookkeeping in Baise before.

There wasn't much business due to the drought.

Ye Yunniang kept the accounts without any mistakes.

Things are different now. The Baise Embroidery Shop is her business, and she wants to manage it well and expand it into the number one embroidery shop in Jiangcheng.

There's a saying in Baise that Ye Yunniang really likes.

"Ye Yunniang, no matter how much Jiang Mingzhe loves you, or how much money and treasures he gives you, these cannot be considered things you can possess forever."

No matter what, we women must always possess our own unique skills that allow us to generate wealth and thrive even when we're alone.

To run the Baise Embroidery Shop well, Ye Yunniang needs to learn a lot.

When keeping accounts, reviewing the accounts is the first step.

Ye Yunniang originally wanted Jiang Mingzhe to arrange for an accountant to teach her.

Jiang Mingzhe volunteered to teach Ye Yunniang.

Ye Yunniang thought that Jiang Mingzhe was so good at business, teaching her would be a piece of cake.

Under Jiang Mingzhe's tutelage, Ye Yunniang once again experienced the difference between geniuses and ordinary people.

For Jiang Mingzhe, keeping accounts and calculating expenses is as simple as eating and drinking.

Ye Yunniang kept accounts, and it took her half an hour or even an hour to calculate the price of each item.

When checking the accounts, Jiang Mingzhe immediately spotted the problem. Ye Yunniang, however, had to meticulously compare and calculate. It took her half a day to find a minor discrepancy, but she couldn't uncover the root cause.

After suffering another setback, Ye Yunniang made a suggestion.

"Why don't you arrange for a female accountant to teach me bookkeeping first? Once I've mastered that, I can learn how to audit the accounts from you."

"I'll speak slower," Jiang Mingzhe said, unwilling to give up the opportunity to be alone with Ye Yunniang.

"This is taking up too much of your time."

"You think I'm a bad teacher?"

"No," Ye Yunniang denied. "It's just that I'm too stupid and can't learn it."

"You've learned very well," Jiang Mingzhe encouraged.

"Really?"

"Yes, really,"

The carriage suddenly stopped, and Ye Yunniang lost her balance and fell backward.

Jiang Mingzhe hugged Ye Yunniang, using his own body to cushion the impact.

"What happened?"

The guard stepped forward and replied, "Sir, a woman rushed out from the roadside and blocked the carriage."

"Send them away." Jiang Mingzhe's attitude was cold and hard. Having traveled the world for many years, he had seen too many of these petty tricks. He was no longer soft-hearted.

"Sir, please take a look."
