Chapter 70 Pregnancy

At the farewell pavilion, Bao Min, Tong Mo, and a carriage were waiting for Ye Yunniang and her three companions.

After meeting, Bao Min made a request that was very unreasonable for the Li family.

"In our line of work, there are men, women, and children. It's better to travel as a family so as not to attract attention."

As soon as Bao Min said that, it was obvious that it was going to be bad news.

Cai Damei stopped Ye Yunniang from speaking and stepped forward, "Sir, what are you going to Lincheng for? I'm just a woman and shouldn't ask. But my daughter-in-law is young and my two grandsons are still young."

"Don't worry, Madam, there will be no danger on this trip," Bao Min said sincerely.

"Sir, we won't delay your journey any longer." Cai Damei slung her bundle over her shoulder, pulled Li Pan along, and started walking back. She couldn't risk Yunniang and the children in the slightest.

Ye Yunniang picked up Li An and followed behind Cai Damei, walking backwards.

They had only taken two steps when Tong Mo blocked their path.

“Madam, Bao Min swears on his life that this trip will absolutely not endanger you or your family,” Bao Min declared again.

Finally, after some "friendly" negotiations by Bao Min, they settled on a set of rules.

Ye Yunniang, a widow, married Bao Min, who had a child, bringing her mother-in-law and son Li Pan with her.

A letter arrived from the Li family, stating that there was a discrepancy between the burial sites of her deceased husband and father. Ye Yunniang wanted to take her mother-in-law and son back to deal with the grave matters.

Bao Min was worried about his wife, so he took his son and pageboy with him to follow her back to her deceased husband's hometown.

The bundle was placed inside the carriage, and Ye Yunniang and Cai Damei sat inside with their two children.

Bao Min and Tong Mo sat on the car frame and drove forward.

Three days later, the carriage arrived at the dock by the river.

There was a boat departing for Lincheng at the dock that afternoon, and there were three rooms left.

After paying for the room and collecting their boat tickets, Bao Min and Tong Mo had something to attend to.

Ye Yunniang and Cai Damei found a restaurant. Worried that the two children playing might disturb others, they specifically requested a private room for both their meal and rest.

"Mother, are we really going to Lincheng like this?" Ye Yunniang was skeptical of Bao Min's words.

"Let's take it one step at a time." The current situation is not something that the mother and daughter can control.

"Actually, it would have been better if Lord Bao had gone with us." Ye Yunniang still remembers the murderous looks her uncles and grandfathers gave her after the family's house and land were sold.

If it weren't for Village Chief Li Wenkuo leading people to protect them, they probably wouldn't have been able to leave the village.

When she returned, Ye Yunniang was constantly worried that those people might do something in secret.

"Mother, eat meat." Li Pan tugged at Ye Yun's sleeve.

Ye Yunniang snapped out of her daze, picked up a piece of braised pork for him, and turned her head away.

Jiang Tingjun looked at her expectantly, "I want to eat meat."

Ye Yunniang picked up a piece of fish with her chopsticks, removed the fish bones, and put it in his bowl.

"An'er, you're too young to eat big pieces of meat, but you can eat fish. Fish is delicious too, come and try some."

Jiang Tingjun reached out to grab it.

Cai Damei stopped him and put the spoon in his hand, saying, "Eat with a spoon, you can't eat with your hands."

Jiang Tingjun didn't object and used a spoon. However, less food fell out than was put into his mouth.

Ye Yunniang and Cai Damei didn't say anything to him, they just let him eat like that.

"Mom, I want to eat fish too."

"Okay." Ye Yunniang picked up some fish with her chopsticks, cleaned out the bones, and put it into Li Pan's bowl.

"Don't just focus on them, eat some too." Cai Damei put a piece of meat on Ye Yunniang's plate.

"Okay. Mother, you eat too." Ye Yunniang picked up the bowl and took the meat that Cai Damei had put on her plate.

After the four finished their meal, they rested for half an hour. Bao Min and Tong Mo returned and informed them of the boarding time.

Cai Damei's family of four lives in one room, which she says is to take care of her two children.

Bao Min and Tong Mo each had a room.

The first day of the boat trip was calm and peaceful, which was great.

Starting the next day, Ye Yunniang felt unwell, feeling nauseous and wanting to vomit.

Ye Yunniang guessed that she was experiencing morning sickness; she hadn't been seasick the last time she came to Jiangcheng.

Fearing that people would find out she was pregnant, Ye Yunniang kept it a secret.

The more I try to hold it in, the more I feel like vomiting.

Especially these past few days, the northwest wind has been blowing, and the boat has been rocking violently.

Ye Yunniang couldn't help but lean over the side of the boat and vomit into the river.

"Madam, are you seasick?" Tong Mo saw Ye Yunniang looking unwell and ran to fetch a doctor.

"No need." Ye Yunniang tried to stop him, but Tong Mo had already run away.

Ye Yunniang lay on the bed as the doctor carefully took her pulse.

After a while, the doctor stood up, cupped his hands, and congratulated Bao Min, "Congratulations, sir, your lady is pregnant."

Bao Min asked to confirm, "Are you pregnant?"

"Yes, you're three and a half months pregnant," the doctor stated the exact time.

Ye Yunniang lay on the bed, her face pale, her hands clenched tightly. She was racking her brains, trying to figure out what to do and how to smooth things over.

"Thank you, Doctor, Tong Mo." Bao Min winked at the dazed Tong Mo.

Tong Mo understood, "Doctor, come with me. My wife is pregnant, is there anything we should be careful about? Please tell me all about it." Tong Mo led the doctor outside to talk.

Only Ye Yunniang and Bao Min remained in the room.

Bao Min said with great certainty, "The child is Jiang Mingzhe's."

Ye Yunniang was shocked. "How did you know? What are you going to do?"

"What should I do? I should be happy. My wife is pregnant. I'm going to be a father again." Bao Min walked into the room with a smile. "Boatman, prepare a table full of good food. I'm going to be a father, we should celebrate."

"Congratulations, sir," the boatman said.

The other passengers on the boat also gathered around to congratulate Bao Min.

"Thank you, thank you..." Bao Min said repeatedly. "Boatman, please prepare more food and drinks. This lunch is on me, haha..."

Cai Damei, who had taken her two children to play at the bow of the ship, heard the news and everyone on the ship already knew.

There was a man surnamed Bao on the ship whose wife was pregnant. He very generously treated everyone on board to lunch.

Cai Damei brought the two children back to the room, where the table was already full of food.

Ye Yunniang looked at the table full of food, her face pale.

"There's braised pork and fish. Mom, I want to eat meat and fish!" Li Pan saw the braised pork at a glance.

"I want to eat fish. Mother, eat fish." Li An's eyes were fixed on the big fish on the table.

"Okay, let's wash our hands and eat." Cai Damei led the two children to wash their hands.

Ye Yunniang picked up her chopsticks and, despite feeling nauseous, removed the fish bones from the children's bones.

After picking through the fish for a while, she couldn't stand the fishy smell anymore and asked Cai Damei to feed the two children. She ran out and leaned over the side of the boat, vomiting violently.

I vomited so much that tears and snot were streaming down my face; it was so uncomfortable.

Ye Yunniang leaned against the boat and cried for a while. She wiped away her tears and went back inside.

The two children had finished eating and were playing on the bed.

Cai Damei took away the fish, meat, and other dishes that would make Ye Yunniang vomit, and left only light porridge and side dishes on the table.

Ye Yunniang ate some side dishes and drank a bowl of porridge, but couldn't eat anymore.

Cai Damei cleared away the dishes and took them to the kitchen. Turning back, she knocked on Bao Min's door.

"My lord, I would like to have a talk with you."
