Bao Min stepped back to let Cai Damei into the house.
After Cai Damei entered the room, Bao Min closed the door, walked to the table, and poured a cup of tea.
"Madam, please have some tea."
"You're too kind, sir." Cai Damei sat half-sitting on the stool, accepted the tea with both hands, but did not drink it.
"Sir, what do you intend to do?"
"What does Madam wish me to do?" Bao Min countered.
"Sir, was it I who asked you first?"
Cai Damei gripped her teacup tightly. "After my father and grandfather passed away one after another, Yunniang and I, being just ordinary women, were forced to leave our hometown and come to seek refuge with you, my sister."
My sister has her own family.
Yunniang had no choice but to work for the Jiang family. She was just a wet nurse, and there were many things she couldn't do.
"Does Madam mean that Jiang Mingzhe forced your daughter-in-law?"
“I know the children I raised. It would be a lie to say there was no coercion, but it would also be wrong to say that all of them were coerced.”
"Half-heartedly agreeing."
Cai Damei thought about it and agreed.
"Why not abort the child?" Bao Min asked curiously.
"It's always a human life."
“Madam is kind-hearted. The Jiang family has already been investigated and prosecuted, and the verdict has been finalized. As for other matters, the court has not pursued them, and I will not do anything more evil.” Bao Min stated his position.
"Thank you, sir." Cai Damei stood up and bowed.
"I don't like verbal thanks."
She didn't like verbal thanks; she wanted money. Thinking this, Cai Damei reached for the money pouch at her waist.
Bao Min pressed down on Cai Damei's hand, saying, "I, Bao Min, am not a vulgar person who likes gold and silver."
Feeling the caress on her hand, Cai Damei pulled her hand back, shocked, "My lord!?"
"The moment I saw you in the interrogation room, I thought, which man is so lucky to have you?" Bao Min's words were a direct flirtation.
"My lord, I must take my leave." Cai Damei felt she could not stay there any longer.
Cai Damei rushed towards the door, wanting to open it and leave.
My hands were pressed against the door, and my body was pinned against it.
The scorching heat enveloped Cai Damei's entire body.
Cai Damei's body tensed up, and she wished she could punch the person behind her in the face.
Just thinking about his identity.
Cai Damei softened her tone, "Sir, I'm old enough to be your mother. Why demean yourself like this?"
“I disagree with what you’re saying, madam. I’m 29 this year, and you’re only 8 years older than me. How can you talk about me being your mother? To me, you’re the perfect age. Mature, charming, and caring.”
When gentle persuasion failed, Cai Damei's tone hardened, "Lord Bao, as a local official, how are you any different from bandits and robbers in forcing a widow?"
Cai Damei regretted agreeing to go back to Lincheng with Bao Min.
"It's all because Madam is too tempting. Bao Min couldn't control his heart." As he spoke, Bao Min moved even closer to Cai Damei. "Listen to his heartbeat; it quickens because of you."
As Bao Min spoke, his hands were not idle either, climbing up to her waist.
Cai Damei used her other hand, which was not being held down, to slap Bao Min's hand hard.
*Smack*
A crisp slap echoed in the room.
The sound of the slap did not deter Bao Min; instead, it emboldened him. He pulled Cai Damei into his arms, saying, "Madam, you're so cruel. It hurts so much."
Cai Damei's answer was a hard kick.
Bao Min felt a sharp pain in his foot and let go. Cai Damei opened the door, rushed out, and escaped the wolves, insects, tigers, and leopards behind her.
Tong Mo walked in with his arms crossed.
"Tsk tsk tsk. Oh dear, even our wise and mighty Lord Bao has such a day. 'Madam, it hurts so much!' Hahaha..." Bao Min was humiliated, and Tong Mo was overjoyed, laughing so hard he couldn't stand up straight.
"Shut up." Bao Min glared at Tong Mo.
"Okay, I won't laugh at you." Tong Mo said this, but the corners of his mouth remained turned up. "There are no outsiders here, so tell the truth. Are you really interested in that peasant woman?"
Bao Min did not answer Tong Mo's question, but said, "I said that Jiang Mingzhe must call me 'Dad'."
"Just to spite Jiang Mingzhe, you're so desperate that you'd choose any woman who could be your mother?" Tong Mo was speechless.
"You can't compare to your parents." One married a woman 12 years his senior. The other married a man 9 years younger than her.
“You should follow in the footsteps of my parents, Uncle.” Tong Mo emphasized the word “Uncle”.
"I told you not to call me 'uncle' when we're out." Calling him old makes him sound old; he's a successful young man.
Tong Mo: ...show-off.
"Okay, I won't call him that. But what does Jiang Mingzhe calling you 'Dad' have to do with Cai Damei?"
“The child in Ye Yunniang’s belly is Jiang Mingzhe’s.” Bao Min did not hide it from Tong Mo.
"It's not even clear whether Jiang Mingzhe will come back alive. Even if he does, are you so sure he'll marry a widow with two sons?"
"My Lord Bao, are you really going to tie the rest of your life to a peasant woman just because of a moment of anger?" Tong Mo thought Bao Min had lost his mind.
"Mind your own business. If you have nothing to do, get out." Bao Min waved his hand, shooing Tong Mo away like a fly.
"Your foot, shouldn't I go and call a doctor?" Tong Mo looked at Bao Min's foot.
Bao Min gave him one, and even gave him a knowing look.
Tong Mo chuckled twice at Bao Min and went to fetch the doctor.
Cai Damei, who had rushed out of the room, returned inside and heard Ye Yunniang and the two children laughing. Her worries dissipated considerably.
Calm yourself down and push open the door.
"Grandma," Li Pan called out first.
"Grandma," Li An called out.
"Yes, yes," Cai Damei responded repeatedly, walked to the bedside, and took their hands.
What are you two playing?
“My mother taught us cat’s cradle,” Li Pan answered clearly.
Ang Lee's speech was still not fluent, and he uttered the words "flower rope".
“Cat’s rope! Grandma likes to play too. Come on, let’s play together.” Cai Damei took the rope and played with the two children.
Ye Yunniang stepped aside and sat by the window.
The cool autumn breeze made me feel much better.
As the boat rocked and she slept, nausea returned, and not wanting to disturb the three people inside, Ye Yunniang got up and left the room.
Reaching the stern, he vomited loudly into the river.
A glass of water was brought to his lips.
Ye Yunniang looked at the hand in front of her but did not move.
A wave passed by, the boat rocked, and Ye Yunniang felt her stomach churning again. She gripped the boat tightly and vomited into the river again.
The food in the stomach has been vomited out; what will be vomited now is acid.
The person behind her gently patted Ye Yunniang's back.
Ye Yunniang waved her hand forcefully, trying to get away, but lost her balance and fell backward.
The owner of the teacup embraced Ye Yunniang.
"If you're angry with me, bite me hard. Don't hurt yourself."
"You're so thick-skinned, it hurts my mouth if you bite me." Ye Yunniang punched Jiang Mingzhe twice.
Jiang Mingzhe took out a dagger and handed it to Ye Yunniang, saying, "Use the dagger to stab her; it won't hurt your hand."
Ye Yunniang grabbed the dagger and raised it to stab Jiang Mingzhe's arm. But when she got close, she stopped.
Why didn't you dodge?
"I made you suffer, so it's only right that you got stabbed."
Ye Yunniang's hand went limp, the dagger fell onto the boat, and she threw herself into Jiang Mingzhe's arms, crying, "I'm so scared~"
