Ye Yunniang was unaware that Tong Mo had brought two sets of parents to Jiangcheng.
She helped Li Ping up, who was lying down again, and led him out of the house.
"Stop lying around all day, come with me to buy groceries. Come on." Ye Yun's mother was helpless with Li Ping; this child loved staying at home too much.
"Yunniang, where are you going?"
"Going to buy groceries. What about you, Chunyao?"
“Yes, let’s go together.” Chunyao, carrying a basket, looked Li Ping up and down.
“Okay, let’s go together. Pingping, call her ‘Auntie’,” Ye Yunniang instructed Li Ping.
"Hello, Auntie," Li Ping greeted.
"Oh, Pingping is good. She looks just like your mother."
“My son, of course he looks like me,” Ye Yunniang laughed. “How’s the shop job going, brother-in-law?”
"Don't even mention it." Chunyao sighed. It's so hard to find a shop that's reasonably priced, in a good location, and in a nice building.
“Good houses are not easy to find. My mother spent a whole month looking for a house when she opened her shop, and she traveled all over Jiangcheng,” Ye Yunniang comforted Chunyao.
"Actually, I looked at two shops and was quite satisfied. It's just that your brother-in-law is too indecisive. He's so picky about this and that, it's really annoying." Chunyao complained a lot to Chef Jin.
Ye Yunniang smiled and said nothing more.
Chunyao complained a few times, then moved closer to Ye Yunniang, "Guess who I saw when I was looking for a house yesterday?"
"Who did you see?" Ye Yunniang asked curiously, holding Li Ping's hand.
"Take a guess, we all know each other."
The only people she and Chunyao knew were from the Jiang family.
"The Jiang family."
Chunyao nodded, "Yes, I saw Jiang Mingyue. She and Jiang Mingshu were holding hands with a little boy who looked about three years old."
Ye Yunniang recalled what Jiang Mingzhe had said.
"Bai Yurong has to play her part well. After she gives birth to her son, she will come to the old man to get a second brothel. When her son is 7 years old, she will get a third brothel."
He wondered to himself if the child was born to Bai Yurong. Was she here now to ask for a third place?
Then I thought of Aunt Xue. Did she succeed in getting the third place?
What are you thinking about?
"Nothing. Did Sister Chunyao and Jiang Mingyue talk?"
"How could that be? She's the fifth daughter of the Jiang family, how could she possibly know a servant like me?" Chunyao shook her head. She knew Jiang Mingyue, but Jiang Mingyue didn't know her.
As they talked, the two arrived at the market and began selecting the vegetables they wanted to eat.
It was cold, so there weren't many vegetables to choose from. They bought two items and were about to head home when Chunyao grabbed Ye Yunniang's arm and pointed, "Look."
Ye Yunniang looked in the direction Chunyao was pointing.
Bai Yurong, Jiang Mingyue, Li Mingshu, and a little boy sat together chatting and laughing.
A short while later, an old man approached the four of them.
That old man was none other than Grandpa Jiang.
Ye Yunniang instinctively blocked Li Ping.
Chunyao noticed Ye Yunniang's actions and pondered in her heart.
"Let's go back."
"Okay, let's go." There was a hint of urgency in Ye Yunniang's voice that she herself didn't even notice.
Back in Wanxia Lane, Chunyao pulled Ye Yunniang and Li Ping to her home to talk.
Chef Jin was also at home; this was Ye Yunniang's first formal meeting with him.
"Hello, brother-in-law," Ye Yunniang greeted.
"Hmm, sit down. I'll go make some tea." Chef Jin got up and went to the kitchen to make tea.
After chatting for a while, Chunyao saw Ye Yunniang off and pulled Chef Jin into the bedroom.
"Speak."
"What did you say?" Chef Jin asked, puzzled.
"Tell me about what happened between Yunniang and the Second Master."
"You know!" Chef Jin was surprised.
"I understand now." Chunyao was a master chef who cheated money.
Chunyao crossed her arms and said, "Jin Dachuan, you really kept this from me for a long time."
"I didn't want to hide it from you either. Second Master instructed that this matter cannot be told to anyone." Chef Jin explained that he was just following his master's orders.
“You can’t say. Then I’ll guess.” Chunyao stared into Chef Jin’s eyes and voiced her guess, “Did Yunniang have an affair with the Second Master when she was at the Jiang residence?”
Chef Jin looked around.
Chunyao, who knew her man very well, knew from his expression that her guess was correct.
"Li Ping is the son that Yunniang gave birth to for the Second Master."
Chef Jin's pupils contracted sharply. He glanced towards the door and waved his hand at Chun Yao, "Second Master has quite a few rivals in Jiangcheng. For the young master's safety, this matter cannot be discussed with outsiders."
Chunyao snorted, "You're no longer a servant of the Jiang family, yet you still listen to him."
"It was Second Master's arrangement beforehand that the Jin family was released. The money we used to buy a house and open a restaurant in our hometown was all given by Second Master. I, Jin Dachuan, am Second Master's man in life and in death," Chef Jin declared to Jiang Mingzhe.
Chunyao snorted, "Was your return also arranged by Second Master?"
"No. When Second Master gave me the indenture, he said I could live my own life from now on. But... anyway, I was worried about the young master. So I took the initiative to tell Second Master that I would come back to take care of him nearby." Chef Jin explained that selling the house and the restaurant were his own ideas and had nothing to do with Jiang Mingzhe.
When the topic of selling the house and restaurant came up, Chunyao's expression immediately soured.
"I know Chunyao, you are loyal to Second Master. But before Second Master returns, the fewer people who know about this, the better." Chef Jin wasn't worried about Chunyao, but he didn't want Chunyao to keep worrying about this and feel uncomfortable.
"I feel even more uncomfortable if you don't tell me. Don't hide anything from me in the future."
“Since you already know, I certainly won’t hide it from you,” Chef Jin agreed.
The speculation was confirmed, and Chef Jin apologized. Chunyao was no longer angry but instead curious, "How did they get together?"
Chunyao knew perfectly well how many residences Ye Yunniang occupied in the Jiang family.
