8 · Chapter 8

The hot blood melted the snow into spots and holes, and a small amount of ash covered the blood.

Messiah looked at the ashes with a pale face, as if he felt no pain, and continued to use his power without changing his expression.

He conjured up another gust of wind, and the fierce airflow blew away the ashes. The ashes made from the burnt arm of the Messiah were swept away by the wind.

After the ashes were completely scattered to all directions of the ocean, Messiah nodded with satisfaction and waved his hand to make the strong wind disappear.

Neither when He burned His arm to ashes nor when He blew the ashes away in all directions did the Messiah consider what would happen if His arm could not be restored.

The Messiah cared nothing about himself or his body, so having arms or not was of no importance to him.

Messiah's heart followed God's will and he began to manipulate the power to restore his broken arm.

It was as if time was flowing backwards, or as if dead branches were sprouting. The scattered ashes and blood all condensed and gathered, and the gas floating in the air also flowed back and compressed.

A complete arm appeared in the snow, and under Messiah's manipulation, it returned intact to the broken shoulder.

There was silence in Messiah Chan's golden eyes. He moved his right arm and nodded thoughtfully.

He understood.

Messiah raised his palm and seemed to see the golden substance flowing through his body - this power can modify reality.

Matter, life, time... all belong to the reality that can be modified by this force.

It could modify the death of workers and bring them back to life, and it could also modify the existence of matter to create fire from thin air. Even the Messiah's ability to fly was achieved by unconsciously using this power to modify his body.

Messiah didn't know where this power came from. It seemed like he was born with it, or like the "ability to change the world" given to players by the game.

He seemed to have a good command of it, yet he seemed not to have fully mastered it.

The polar bear that had been snuggling up to Messiah disappeared at some point, perhaps going out to look for food, or perhaps it could no longer tolerate Messiah's behavior.

Messiah didn't seem to care about its disappearance. He raised his head and looked into the distance again.

Across the glaciers and continents, Messiah saw the metropolis reduced to ashes.

The next second, Messiah modified the spatial coordinates and appeared out of thin air on the ruins of the metropolis, with a row of gray tombstones standing in front of him.

Messiah's heart was calm. He calmly passed by the tombstones and stopped in front of a small tombstone.

His gaze paused for a second on the little girl's tombstone, and then he lowered his eyes slightly, avoiding the name engraved on the tombstone and turning his gaze to the mini tombstone next to it.

Messiah did not remember the little girl's name, even though he had erected the tombstone with his own hands and he watched Superman carve the name, but Messiah still did not remember it.

He didn't need to remember the name of a fragile life, nor did he need to remember the name of a game NPC.

Messiah squatted down, his hands covering the soil in front of the mini tombstone, and a small lead box made of cement appeared out of thin air.

The lead box slowly opened, and the skeleton of a small cat appeared in front of Messiah. Messiah looked at the skeleton expressionlessly, as if he was thinking about something, but also as if he was thinking about nothing.

Power surged in the palm of Messiah's hand, and Messiah consciously manipulated this power to cover the skeleton.

After a brief experiment, Messiah was already proficient in using his power to actively modify reality. He decided to resurrect the kitten to further test his power.

This was not because the Messiah wanted to save lives, he did not care about these fragile lives, he just wanted to test the limits of his power.

The gray bones were motionless, and no flesh and blood had grown on them as the Messiah had modified them.

Messiah, expressionless, intensified his use of force.

Power surged out, and the gray-white skeleton lit up with golden holy light.

Messiah stared at the skeleton in front of him with an indifferent expression. The golden light illuminated his face, casting a hazy light and shadow filter over him.

Perhaps it was because the golden light was too holy, the Messiah's expression even had a hint of divinity.

With a "bang", the warm and holy power mercilessly destroyed the kitten's skeleton.

The skeleton and the lead box turned into powder and scattered all over the place.

He failed.

Messiah looked up at the white powder floating in the air, his eyelashes trembling.

The white powder looks like snowflakes falling from the Arctic.

After a few seconds, he raised his right hand, as if trying to figure out what was going on.

Why did it get out of control?

The existence of the kitten seemed to be completely erased from his mind. Messiah's attention was all focused on his own strength. He looked at his palm in confusion and shook his right hand a few times without knowing why the power that was as easy as his own arm would go out of control at this time.

No, not out of control.

Messiah recalled the feeling of using his power just now. It was more like something else than loss of control.

He couldn't put it into words, but it seemed to be something he hadn't yet fully mastered in his ability to modify reality.

Messiah frowned in confusion. This was the first time he encountered an obstacle when using his power since he discovered his abilities, and it was for the same thing.

Before he mastered his abilities, he could revive the living. But why couldn't he do it after mastering his abilities?

If it was because the kitten's flesh had turned into bones and scattered ash gas, he had deliberately changed his palms and arms into the same condition when experimenting with his abilities, and they would have recovered normally.

Is it because the kitten has been dead for too long?

However, he had tried to use his ability to revive the kitten just after it died, and according to his tests, the strength of his ability did not decrease when he used it unconsciously. Even so, the kitten was not resurrected at that time.

The Messiah didn't understand. Things as fragile as life were easy to destroy and should also be easy to restore. Why couldn't he restore them?

Suddenly, Messiah paused.

He stared at the destroyed metropolis without blinking, and suddenly realized something.

Destruction... Restoration...

Restore... Save...

At this moment, Messiah suddenly realized that he could indeed modify reality and that he did have complete control over his abilities, but his abilities were not the same as the omnipotence he had imagined.

——He can only destroy, not save.

The Messiah can modify reality, but when it comes to other beings, he only has the power to destroy, not save. That's why he not only failed to save the kitten, but also blew its bones into ashes.

As for why he could resurrect the dead workers, the Messiah also found the reason - the workers' deaths were caused by him.

He caused the workers' deaths, which was something related to him, so his power could act on the workers and modify the reality of their deaths.

After reasoning out the result, all of Messiah's confusion and curiosity were finally satisfied. He waved his hand, and the powder scattered in the sky and on the earth condensed into shape.

The little skeleton was back under six feet again.

Messiah took one last look at the ruins of Metropolis and the numerous tombstones, then prepared to leave and head back to the Fortress of Solitude.

Suddenly, Messiah moved his ears slightly, pretending to listen attentively.

A crackling sound of electricity was heard in the ruins of the metropolis.

[I'm still alive... I'm still alive...]

A faint mechanical sound rang out from a certain location. Messiah subconsciously looked towards the source of the sound and found that it was a place he was extremely familiar with, the place where he was born when he entered the game.

——The ruins of Lex Tower.

[I'm alive……]

The crackling sound of the radio played persistently. Messiah blinked slowly and couldn't help but exclaimed "Huh".

Is there anyone still alive in Metropolis? Are there any survivors?

Messiah instantly appeared above the ruins of the Lex Building. His sight penetrated the broken walls and stopped at a basement made of lead underground.

He saw a bald man constantly sending out signals in the basement. Thanks to his efforts, the broadcast of "I'm still alive" gradually spread throughout the metropolis.

The identity of the bald man is about to be revealed.

Lex Luthor, chairman of LexCorp, the richest man in Metropolis, one of the smartest people on the planet, and a friend of Superman.

Lex Tower belongs to the other party.

Messiah's mobile space coordinates appeared in front of the lead room. He exerted light force on his hands and tore open the deformed door of the lead room.

Lex looked out the door in surprise. He thought Superman had discovered him, but he was stunned when he saw the Messiah.

He quickly identifies Messiah as the super-powered teenager who bungee-jumps from the rooftop of his building.

"Hello." Lex put away the overly bright smile on his face, showed a formal smile, stepped forward and shook Messiah's hand, "Thank you for saving me, my friend."

"In return, if you need anything, Lex Group is always at your service."

Messiah slowly shook his head, his voice calm: "Not saving."

He has no ability to save, so it is not salvation.

"No need." Messiah answered Lex's questions in a serious manner. "Also, no service."

Looking at Lex, who was obviously oblivious to the destruction of Metropolis, Messiah decided to give Lex a friendly reminder.

So, he calmly threw out a series of thunderclaps: "Metropolis, destroyed. Lex, the group, gone."

"What?!"

The polite smile on Lex's face disappeared, and he kept asking, "What do you mean Metropolis is destroyed? What exactly happened?"

Before hiding in the underground lead room, Lex knew that a disaster must have happened in Metropolis, but Messiah's words were beyond his imagination.

Metropolis is a perfect modern city. Lex Corporation has built many rescue facilities in Metropolis, and it is also a city protected by the gods of the world.

How could it possibly be destroyed?

How could the City of Tomorrow be destroyed? !

Messiah looked at Lex's intense reaction, tilted his head in confusion, and the ahoge on his head swayed back and forth.

This is the case with Superman and Lex. It's just a fragile city that can be destroyed at will. Is Metropolis really that important?

...fragile city, fragile life.

Although he didn't understand, Messiah still answered Lex's question, saying simply: "Nuclear explosion."

After saying the word nuclear explosion, Messiah looked at Lex who was directly exposed to nuclear radiation without the isolation of the lead layer, and realized something belatedly.

Messiah exclaimed, "Ah," and showed an expression of sudden enlightenment.

He remembered Superman saying that the residual nuclear radiation after a nuclear explosion would affect the human body.

Lex obviously realized this and his expression changed instantly.

"You should go. I'll take you." Messiah stepped forward, ready to princess-carry Lex. "Nuclear radiation."

Lex agreed to Messiah's proposal, but Messiah's movements suddenly stopped.

The next second, the God of the World descended from the sky.

A scarlet cape hovered above the Messiah, and the sunlight hit Superman hard, obscuring his gloomy expression.

The God on Earth's toes floated in the air and did not land on the ground.

"Great! Lex, you're still alive!"

Messiah heard Superman say in a delighted voice, "I thought it was just me and Messiah in Metropolis!"

Then, he felt Superman's gaze fixed on him.

"I didn't expect to see you here, Messiah." Superman smiled at Messiah, his tone unreadable. "After we take Lex out of the radiation zone, I hope you can share it with me."

"—About how you left the Fortress of Solitude."

Messiah looked at Superman, who was also exposed to nuclear radiation - a fellow human being he thought of - and suddenly thought of the game's background introduction: "Humans do not have special abilities."

In the past, Superman acted more human than human, even though Superman had special powers, but because the Messiah himself also had special powers, the Messiah never doubted Superman's identity.

It's clear that Superman has a human heart.

But now, Messiah looked at the God of the world floating in the air and suddenly had doubts.

Is Superman really human?
