Filled with magical power, the colorful gemstones emit a variety of lights, including azure blue, crystal yellow, translucent red, brilliant purple, and bright white. The monotonous shop signs in the past are now decorated in a colorful and vibrant way.
With convenient lighting equipment, Titanya's night life has become much richer. Everyone seems to go to bed later and later, because the night is so relaxing and pleasant that people are reluctant to go to sleep.
Away from the bustling streets, the surrounding environment gradually became deserted, with only the occasional small airship passing through the sky, bringing flickering faint light and shadows.
The alleys here still look old-fashioned and are not equipped with those beautiful and elegant gem lamps. The lanterns hanging in front of a few shops are the only source of lighting.
Some poorly dressed pedestrians walked through the street. Most of them were workers who were off work, or people who came here from nearby cities or distant areas to make a living.
Some were tired, while others were excited. They talked about all kinds of new things in the imperial capital, with their aspirations and imaginations for the future.
"You're welcome to come again next time."
The door of the barber shop opened and a young man walked out, followed by two maids.
"I've already told you, we're not short of money now, there's no need to be so frugal." A maid with silver-purple hair seemed a little dissatisfied and boldly contradicted the young master.
"This, I think is actually not bad. It doesn't cost so much money." Elio looked at his trimmed hair and nodded with satisfaction.
"Those shops you mentioned are so luxurious inside. When I go in, I'm surrounded by people staring at me. I feel really uncomfortable."
"But you will get used to this kind of thing sooner or later. The master is the one I specially chose, and he is destined to be extraordinary." The witch Kornos naturally called the young man "master". The moving voice made people around turn around involuntarily and take a few more glances.
What a lovely maid! Though she might have a bit of a sharp tongue. The imperial capital was full of nobles, and such master-servant pairings were commonplace. It was only slightly surprising to see them appear on such a deserted street.
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Elio nodded, seemingly not caring about that statement.
"We should have some serious business today." He finally thought of how to interrupt the maid's complaints.
"Yes, but Master, I don't want to escape this. As your maid, I have the obligation to train a qualified master."
"Really? I feel very stressed." Elio rubbed his forehead and looked at Anna on the side helplessly.
The plump maid smiled without saying a word, watching the two quarreling, and then walked forward.
They crossed several deserted streets and boarded a pre-prepared carriage in a deserted area. The driver then began to steer the horses forward. He asked no questions, and no instructions were needed. Everything was done in perfect sync, as if it had been planned long ago.
The brown-gray carriage, plain and ordinary, passed quietly through the ancient streets and slowly approached the north side of the city, where the garrison camp was located.
The flame in the copper basin roared, and the bright flame illuminated the road and the gate. The guards standing at the gate stood quietly, not saying a word in the night.
As the night deepened, a horse-drawn carriage slowly approached from the intersection, and the rustling sound of its wheels was particularly eye-catching in the cold environment.
When they got closer, the guards stopped them, and the coachman gave out documents and secret orders, and soon these people respectfully gave way.
On summer nights, lights can be seen everywhere in the fortress, and moths are circling around the lights.
The carriage stopped in a corner of the fortress, and then a black-clad officer escorted these people to a sturdy tower. It was heavily guarded, with several layers of walls and many soldiers patrolling and monitoring.
Several people wearing black hooded windbreakers walked under the tower, and then gradually descended to the depths of the bottom under the control of some kind of hanging basket-like stone ladder.
After walking out of the closed and narrow 'stone staircase room', several people followed the soldiers into the cold and damp underground passage.
There is no sunlight here, and it is pitch black all around. Occasionally, you can hear the sound of dripping water, which is particularly clear when it falls on the stones on the ground.
Empty cells appeared on both sides of the passage, most of them empty, while some held vague figures. Although it was difficult to see clearly, the bloody and rotten smell in the air was enough to make people realize the cruelty and despair of this place.
One of them seemed to be very uncomfortable, covering his mouth and nose, and had an urge to vomit, but was quickly patted on the shoulder by a petite figure behind him, and then he calmed down.
The soldier leading the way looked back and waited indifferently for a while. Seeing that the three people had stabilized again, he continued to lead the way.
No one spoke on the road. Only the figures in the cells heard the footsteps. Some of them woke up, dragged their chains, and made hoarse cries, but unfortunately, they could not speak, probably because their tongues had been pulled out.
Finally, the soldier leading the way stopped. He checked the cell next to the aisle, hung the lantern on it, took out a square box, put it on the ground, then made a simple gesture to the three people behind him, and then stood more than ten meters away and waited quietly.
The three nodded at this, then came to the cell and pressed the box. A deep blue soundproof barrier spread out, covering the cell and the three people.
The petite figure stepped forward and knocked on the secret lock of the cell door, making a crisp sound that woke up the figure slumped on the ground inside.
Like a pair of cheetah eyes lighting up in the darkness, the figure looked at the three people who appeared in front of the cell. After a few seconds, he struggled to sit up.
