Chapter 61 The Reason for Internal Investigation

The interrogation room was well heated. Liu Chuchang and others took off their coats and looked at the new clothes on Aunt Hu and her daughter. Their eyes became even colder.

Su Jin recognized the cloth worn by the mother and daughter. It was bought from the supply and marketing cooperative by Hu Teng with the help of Lu Shiyi.

Su Jin specially picked out a piece of bright red cloth and wanted Ruan Tao to make clothes for Xiao Ya. During the Chinese New Year, she was confused when she found the old clothes that Ruan Tao and Xiao Ya wore during the Chinese New Year. Now she knows where the cloth went.

"Sister-in-law, didn't you buy this fabric?" Yun Feng looked at the new cotton-padded jackets on the two of them and was slightly stunned. "Didn't Hu Teng say that he bought it for Ruan Tao and Xiao Ya to make cotton-padded jackets?"

Hu Teng came to Su Jin's house to get cloth. Yun Feng and Su Jin were there, curious about why Hu Teng wanted to buy cloth and cotton. He mentioned that Ruan Tao and her daughter's cotton-padded clothes were no longer warm. Yun Feng went back and sighed that Hu Teng was a good person.

Liu Chuchang pushed the door open and threw his military cap on the table, unable to suppress the anger in his heart.

"These mother and daughter are just two sticky bits! They just said they didn't know when the team members asked them. They didn't say a word after the man and woman came in," Liu Chuchang complained, grabbing the water glass on the table and guzzling it. "It's pointless to argue now. The Public Security Bureau has brought over two weeks' worth of files. Nearly 20 children have gone missing in the county in just two weeks."

When the police station heard the news from the human traffickers, they immediately came over with the files.

He led his team members in the interrogation, while the police station personnel recorded in the monitoring room.

"Let the police station question Aunt Hu." Su Jin stood in front of the glass door and stared at Aunt Hu throwing a tantrum. "Ayi, I remember that the aunties in the village are most afraid of the police station. Every time I say call the police, they are afraid to beg for mercy."

"I'll have the team members come out and write down the questions and give them to the police," Liu Chuchang nodded. "Let's try this method. If we can't get the answers, we'll think of other ways."

After Liu Chuchang left, Yunfeng walked to Su Jin.

"Can the police find out?" Yunfeng began to worry. "They didn't even tell me when they were questioned. They didn't care about the police at all. They just used unreasonable arguments to get by."

"They're afraid of the police. Hu Teng is an active duty officer. They're just sitting there making trouble. The patrol officers won't take any harsh measures against them for Hu Teng's sake." Su Jin looked up to show everyone the interrogation room. The mother and daughter were being interrogated separately, and the four police officers were split into two groups. "Auntie Hu's attitude has changed."

Lu Shiyi kept staring at Aunt Hu. When the two policemen came in, she tensed up all over.

The policeman pressed a button on the desk drawer, and the sounds from the interrogation room reached everyone's ears.

"Sound can only be transmitted in one direction, and our words can't pass through it." Lu Shiyi found that they were silent, so he turned around and explained.

After the police sat down, they opened the folder and asked questions that Liu Chuchang had copied.

"How did you find the person who wanted to buy the child?" the policeman asked, staring at Aunt Hu.

Aunt Hu's pupils shrank, and the police immediately slammed the table.

"Don't be so optimistic!" the police officer shouted. Aunt Hu stopped crying. "Your daughter, Hu Xiaomei, may have crossed the bottom line of the country. Only if you tell the truth can your daughter be exonerated."

Aunt Hu immediately pleaded, "I'll tell you, I'll tell you, can you let me be your younger sister?"

"No!" the police officer flatly refused. "We'll record it and review it later."

"Who introduced him to you?" another policeman asked with a stern face.

Aunt Hu was not afraid of the soldiers because of her son. She came from the village and was very afraid of the police at the police station. When she found out that the interrogators were the police, she started to feel nervous and cooperated with the police to answer questions.

"My little sister's friend introduced him to her." Aunt Hu thought about what little sister Hu was nagging in her ear, saying that it would be better if she could bring her grandson to raise after Xiaoya was sold.

Everyone in the nearby interrogation room listened and concluded that Aunt Hu was using Xiaomei's words to manipulate her. They needed to wait for the interrogation records from Xiaomei to confirm this. Xiaomei, who had been ignored before, also came into everyone's sight.

"Why did you sell your granddaughter?" the officer continued to record. Aunt Hu didn't answer. "You must answer. According to you, Hu Xiaomei was also involved in child trafficking."

Aunt Hu held the handles of the chair tightly with both hands, and the silver handcuffs on her hands made a sound when they hit the board.

"My younger sister is also doing this for the good of the family. My eldest son has no grandchildren, so I'll have to let my nephew take care of him in his old age." Aunt Hu curled her lips and said, "He's so protective of his wife that he doesn't even have a son. If I don't let my two grandchildren come over to foster their affection, they'll be left alone when Xiaoya gets married."

Aunt Hu complained that Hu Teng was unfilial because it was for his own good.

"Captain Hu and his wife are still young, so why can't they have children?" The policeman's wife's family also favors boys over girls, and his wife has never returned since she got married.

"You can't have a son? Your nephew has to raise him. You should cultivate your relationship with your children from a young age." Aunt Hu snorted coldly, "You say nice things."

The police no longer listened to Aunt Hu's twisted logic, and Su Jin pulled Lu Shiyi.

"Go check on Hu Xiaomei. We can't get much information here." Lu Shiyi frowned and took Hu Xiaomei's interrogation record from the police officer who came in. "Lao Lin, Hu Xiaomei probably didn't tell the truth. How long has she been here since she came from her hometown?"

Lin Zitao introduced the results of the investigation. Ever since Hu Teng allowed his family members to accompany the army, Aunt Hu had been clamoring to come. When Xiaoya was over one year old, Hu Teng gave her a three-month mission, thinking that Aunt Hu could help Ruan Tao.

At that time, Ruan Tao's eldest sister-in-law had just given birth and needed Ruan's mother to stay at home to take care of her during the confinement period, so she was unable to come and take care of her.

After Aunt Hu came to the city, she never returned to the village. Old Man Hu stayed in the village alone. When Hu Teng couldn't stand it anymore, Old Man Hu scolded Aunt Hu on the phone. Aunt Hu then calmed down for two days and returned to her normal state.

Su Jin followed Lu Shiyi to another monitoring room. Su Jin walked in and looked at Hu Xiaomei carefully, and found that the feeling was different from the glance during the last quarrel.

"Ayi, Hu Xiaomei doesn't have a job?" Su Jin was curious why Hu Xiaomei gave people two different feelings.

Su Jin's words stunned him. Lin Zitao told Hu Xiaomei about her performance after coming to the military region. The whole family depended on Hu Teng's allowance to live, but Hu Xiaomei could always wear new clothes, which was obviously not possible with the allowance.

Ruan Tao would occasionally get work from Hu Huochaihe on the street, and grow vegetables in the vegetable garden of the family compound.

"Xiao Jin, do you also think that Hu Xiaomei doesn't look like a country girl?" Yun Feng agreed with Su Jin's words. She had warned Lin Zitao before, "Old Lin, I did warn you."

Su Jin hummed, "Her current actions are not what an elementary school graduate would do."

The favored girls in the village have an education level above primary school graduation, and maybe they are the ones you know in the village.

"Investigate Hu Xiaomei in detail and ask Hu Teng to come as well." Lu Shiyi heard Su Jin's words and also thought about asking Hu Teng to come and observe. "Hu Teng has not been home in the military camp for five years. We also need to inquire about the two siblings' interactions over the past two years."

Lu Shiyi agreed with Su Jin's intuition and decided to wait until Hu Teng arrived.

As the patrol team interrogated, many people could no longer sit still, and those on the periphery should have jumped out.

"After a careful check, the family members accompanying the hospital have been reviewed, but the relatives have not." Lin Zitao slapped his forehead, "We should let the department screen them first."

Su Jin and Yun Feng smiled at each other, while Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao began to pay attention to the relatives accompanying the army.
