Chapter 62 The Attitudes of the Three

As the investigation deepened, the days entered February. Su Jin looked up at the snowflakes floating in the sky, and the cold snowflakes fell on her face. She stomped her feet in the yard in her heavy clothes. Every time it snowed, she would run out to play.

Lu Shiyi got up early in the morning and went to training with the team members, otherwise he would nag her again.

"It's so damn cold." Su Jin looked up for a while, feeling cold all over, and complained in a low voice.

"Sister Xiaojin, Lao Lin asked the family members to go to the auditorium for a meeting at 8:30 this morning." Yunfeng came out to cook and took out vegetables from the vegetable cellar when she heard Su Jin complaining in the yard.

"Sister-in-law, has the result of the Hu family come out?" Su Jin discovered that many people in the courtyard had moved out after discovering that the road to the county town had just been opened.

Yunfeng held the cabbage close to the wall and whispered to Su Jin, "We should get out. The families that moved away have been dragged into this. Those old ladies will have a hard time in the future. Because of their greed, they ruined their most promising children."

"Sister-in-law, let's go together after dinner." Su Jin nodded, and the two of them went to make breakfast.

When breakfast was ready, she heard the sound of snow falling on Lu Shiyi's training uniform as he strode in. She looked towards the kitchen door and curled the corners of her mouth slightly.

"I have to go to the auditorium for a meeting after dinner, husband..." Su Jin said to him coquettishly, "Hurry up and take breakfast to the dining room. I'll come after I clean up the kitchen."

As the two of them sat in the living room eating breakfast, Lu Shiyi ate the corn porridge in his bowl and reached out to pick up some cold dishes for her.

"Wife, at today's meeting, inform the military wives of the Hu family's decision. Hu Teng will remain in the team for the time being. He cannot be transferred in the next few years, and it will be difficult to redeploy him in the future." Lu Shiyi felt sorry for this. Hu Teng was capable enough to be promoted, but his family was involved in something, and there was no guarantee that he would not be caught by others.

Su Jin heard Lu Shiyi tell her that Aunt Hu and her daughter had been secretly transferred to the imperial capital by GA. Hu Teng applied to see the mother and daughter. They initially begged Hu Teng to rescue them, but when they learned that they could not go out, they immediately cursed at him.

"Ayi, were those in the interrogation room also sent away?" Su Jin asked curiously.

Lu Shiyi nodded without saying a word. Only when Su Jin got involved did he tell the other party what happened next in silence.

After breakfast, Lu Shiyi gave Su Jin some instructions and went out to lead the team in training. After Su Jin had tidied up the house, she heard Liu Yunshan and Yunfeng calling her at the door.

"Sisters-in-law, is it almost time?" Su Jin put on her military coat and went out. She glanced at the watch on her left hand and found that it was already 8:15. "I was cleaning the house and didn't check the time. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for so long."

Liu Yunshan waved her hand nonchalantly: "Lao Lin asked the three of us to take our stance first. When we meet Ruan Tao later, we should greet her first."

The people in the family building alienated Ruan Tao and her daughter. Some of the gossipy ones would even talk nonsense in front of the children, allowing them to bully Xiao Ya unscrupulously. Ruan Tao stood up for Xiao Ya and also saw the reality clearly, so she kept Xiao Ya by her side.

"Sister-in-law, Xiaoya is having a hard time. She's an introvert by nature. If the other children hear what the adults are saying, they'll probably bully her." Su Jin remembered her sister-in-law chattering under the tree on the day they moved. She turned to look at Yunfeng and suggested, "Sister-in-law Yunfeng, let Lin Yan take care of Xiaoya more."

"Sister-in-law, Lao Lin told the two brothers last night that Ruan Tao won't let Xiaoya out to play for the time being." Yun Feng said, looking towards the family building. "Many people are waiting to see the couple make a fool of themselves. Hu Teng is in a difficult situation this time."

When they reached the corner, Ruan Tao was walking towards the auditorium with his daughter in his arms.

"Ruan Tao, why are you carrying the child over? Send her to my house so the two brothers can play with Xiaoya." Yun Feng saw Xiaoya's timid appearance, sadness in her eyes. "Children need friends to accompany them. What will happen if Xiaoya doesn't fit in with others and goes to school in the future?"

Su Jin agreed with Yun Feng's words. The other military families watched the four of them walk towards the auditorium together. They whispered to each other. Some of them saw that the three sisters-in-law did not distance themselves from Ruan Tao, so they decided to get closer to them, while others felt that the three were just pretending.

Liu Yunshan held Xiaoya in her arms and walked to the front of the group. Su Jin and Yunfeng, one on each side, dragged Ruan Tao to the front row and took their seats. The three of them, with smiles on their faces, greeted the surrounding military wives.

Because of Aunt Hu and her daughter, the soldiers have decided to leave only their wives and children with the army, and will send all the other relatives back to their hometowns in the next few days.

The compound was bustling with activity for a while, and relatives were crying at home. They were used to living in the city, where they didn't have to earn work points and had daughters-in-law to serve them. Few mothers-in-law wanted to go back.

Lin Zitao checked the relationships among the relatives and found a few who had a good relationship with Hu Xiaomei. Some of them had already found jobs in the county town, but now that they were involved, they not only lost their jobs, but also their families were implicated.

"Some of the people Hu Xiaomei was close to had jobs, but they lost their jobs and ended up in jail." Yunfeng saw that some of the sisters-in-law had more smiles on their faces. Their mothers-in-law and sisters-in-law followed the army together, and under the oppression of their mothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, their lives were also very hard.

The conference starts on time at 8:30!

Lin Zitao sat in front of the podium and moved the loudspeaker.

"My dear military wives, there's been a traitor inside the compound. Many outside forces are using sugarcoated tactics to corrupt the relatives of the soldiers, taking advantage of their search for jobs or partners to infiltrate the compound and cause trouble for the soldiers." Liu Chuchang led the arrest of several individuals who had facilitated Hu Xiaomei's escape. After an overnight interrogation, they learned that these individuals were colluding with outside forces, hoping to corrupt the border guards. "Songjiang Commune is close to the border of our motherland. The military achievements earned by the soldiers at the cost of their lives are also half yours. Both husband and wife should protect this credit."

Su Jin was surprised that Lin Zitao directly told her the cause. The superiors hoped that the wives of the soldiers would be more vigilant and not be lured by these people. If a team member was dragged into the water, it would cause inevitable losses to the team.

It was almost 10 o'clock when the auditorium opened its doors to let the military wives out, and they all walked out in silence.

They rarely come into contact with the work of soldiers in the hospital. This accident made them realize the danger of this job, and even their families have to be vigilant at all times.

"Sister-in-law, take Xiaoya for a walk in the yard more often. There is too much gossip in the staff building. Let Hu Teng apply for housing in the small courtyard. Each household there has its own door. Although it is not a building, it can keep Xiaoya away from disputes." Liu Yunshan advised Ruan Tao, hoping that she would consider Xiaoya.

Su Jin looked at the little girl with empty eyes, except when she gave her candy, the little girl looked at her to thank her.

After Ruan Tao and her daughter left, the three of them sighed and hoped that Hu Teng and Ruan Tao could create a good environment for their children.

Just as the three were about to leave, they heard crying and shouting coming from the family building. They looked at each other and walked towards the yard.

At the intersection of several residential buildings, two elderly ladies in their sixties were sitting on the ground crying loudly.

The military wives saw the three people coming and consciously made way for them.

"Sister-in-law, the head of the household has decided to send mother-in-law back home. She wants 20 yuan a month before she's willing to leave." The two sisters-in-law laughed bitterly. The two mothers-in-law had a good relationship, so this must have been a pre-planned arrangement. "The head of the household only gets 27 yuan a month. Isn't this forcing our family to die?"
