Chapter 76 Old Lady Hu Appears Again

Everyone attacked Old Lady Hu and her two generations of grandparents. The boys told their parents about how the Hu brothers had reported them behind their backs. The children in the family compound were all very tough and fighting was common among them, but no one would tell tales.

The boys saw that Old Lady Hu was difficult to deal with and didn't want their family to be scolded, so they endured it.

"Political Commissar, you heard it too. Junwa was bullied by these two brothers. Old Mrs. Hu was sent to a farm to serve a 20-year sentence for being a human trafficker and a traitor. Why was she acquitted? Who let her into the yard?" The team members were furious when they heard the children's complaints.

Lu Shiyi was secretly happy that the team members raised questions. They both received a notice from the Pigeon Committee and had to choose to remain silent in order to balance the situation.

The team members couldn't bear it any longer: "Old Qi is right. Family members of the compound have to go through an audit before they can come in. Do they have to be audited again after making a mistake?"

When Peng Hui heard the team members questioning the Pigeon Committee, he took a few steps forward and stood at the front of the crowd.

"Please listen to me, everyone. The Songjiang Pigeon Committee received news of meritorious service from the Northwest Farm. Since both mother and daughter had meritorious service, Hu Xiaomei wanted her mother to return to her hometown to retire while she continued to serve her sentence there. Her mother was sent back three days ago," Peng Hui explained. "The Pigeon Committee didn't receive the news in advance. We only learned of the news when the Northwest Pigeon Committee brought her here."

As Peng Hui finished speaking, Old Lady Hu puffed out her chest proudly and looked around with contempt.

"You sent me to serve my sentence, but have you ever thought that I, an old lady, would come back one day?" Old Mrs. Hu said proudly, "If I can come back once, I can come back many times."

After hearing what Old Lady Hu said, Su Jin always felt that there was something wrong with her coming back, so she reached out and pulled Lu Shiyi.

"Old Lin, get someone to investigate. Something might have happened at the Northwest Farm." Lu Shiyi muttered.

Lin Zitao nodded: "I just sent someone to investigate. We can't be too passive."

"Director Peng, you have to tell us why you have made such a contribution." The team members wanted to know the reason.

"I don't know yet." Peng Hui shook his head. The accompanying staff only gave him a certificate of meritorious service. "I will give everyone an explanation."

Only three days after Old Lady Hu came back, there was a commotion in the village and in the family compound of the armed forces department in the county town. Peng Hui believed that someone did it on purpose.

While everyone was talking, the car that was picking up Erya arrived at the yard. The crowd made way and the jeep stopped in the middle of the crowd.

The team members drove in front, and Hu Teng got out of the car holding Erya, whose face was red with fever.

The 4-year-old Erya appeared in everyone's sight. She was not as tall as a 3-year-old child. She had her eyes closed and her face was sallow. If it weren't for the rise and fall of her chest, everyone would have thought that Erya was gone.

Hu Teng glanced at Old Lady Hu. The villagers found that she had returned safely from the Northwest Labor Reform Farm. There were rumors in the village that Old Lady Hu had a strong backer, and no one in the village dared to mess with her after she came back.

"Doctor Wang, please check on the child first. He's had a fever for a day." Doctor Wang took the child in his arms. Hu Teng straightened his sleeves and said, "Please send the child to my wife's care."

"You should take care of the family affairs." Doctor Wang took the child and left everyone's sight. Old Mrs. Hu listened to Peng Hui's words and stepped back step by step.

Su Jin looked at what Old Lady Hu was doing and muttered in a low voice, "Oh no! Old Lady Hu is going to run away."

When Peng Hui heard this, he turned around and looked at the members of the Pigeon Committee. Three members surrounded Old Lady Hu.

"Xiao Jin, the matter between Old Lady Hu and the human traffickers has not been clarified yet, and there is something else happening?" Yun Feng watched Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao leave the crowd and meet Wu Jun.

"You...the director of the Northwest Pigeon Committee is my son-in-law, who of you dares to touch me!" Old Mrs. Hu spoke in a sharp voice, and the team leader was ready to hide behind.

Yunfeng put the two children beside her, and many people talked about Old Mrs. Hu.

"Commander Wu, Commander Lu, please allow me to use your interrogation room." Peng Hui heard what Old Lady Hu said and walked a few steps forward to the three of them, asking, "The northwest side is close to the border. It would be troublesome if someone targeted us."

Wu Jun, Lu Shiyi, and Lin Zitao also nodded in agreement: "There is a special interrogation area, and the several village cadres who came here will also stay."

The team leader and three village cadres stood there in a daze. They came to assist in the investigation but were detained as suspects.

"Please rest assured, families. The Pigeon Committee and the Ministry will give you an explanation." Wu Jun and Peng Hui acted as guarantors together, and the families agreed.

After the crowd dispersed, the members of the Pigeon Committee took the group to the interrogation room, and Su Jin, Yun Feng and her two children went home together.

After pushing the door open and returning home, Su Jin and Yun Feng continued to prepare the ingredients for lunch, while the two boys went to the living room to do the homework assigned by Su Jin.

Su Jin and Yun Feng sat on small benches in the yard, each picking vegetables in their hands.

"My cousin's family was transferred to work at a farm in the northwest. A month ago, they wrote to me about the director of the pigeon committee getting married. He's already 50," Yunfeng gossiped. "I even told Lao Lin that what girl would be so desperate?"

"I don't know if it was voluntary or if this old lady was plotting against her." Su Jin looked at Yun Feng. "No one mentioned Old Lady Hu entering the courtyard today."

"Who dares to speak carelessly in today's world? The compound is relatively stable, but how many people outside have had their families destroyed by a single word?" Yun Feng sighed, "Even Lin Lei and Lin Yan don't dare to speak carelessly at school."

Su Jin listened to Yun Feng's description of the situation over there. She was curious about the results of Lu Shiyi and the others' interrogation.

"Sister-in-law, when can you give me an answer?" Su Jin asked curiously.

"There should be a meeting at the hospital in three days. Wu is always very efficient, and the families trust him very much." Yunfeng introduced the situation at the hospital. "We should eat early these days."

"Okay!" Su Jin agreed.

As night fell, Su Jin was cooking in the kitchen, and Yun Feng was helping her. Watching Su Jin take the multi-grain steamed buns from the bamboo drawer, Yun Feng lamented that she didn't have the skill to do that.

"Sister-in-law, they use the same ingredients, but I just can't do it!" Yun Feng sighed. When the father and his two sons saw her steaming buns, they quietly went to get some appetite stimulants.

"Sister-in-law, just cook a few more times. Next time, help me and I can help out. We can't waste food." Su Jin noticed that Yun Feng was very enthusiastic about cooking, and the brothers Lin Lei and Lin Yan were bothered by her. "Once you become proficient, you can cook on your own, and sister-in-law can also cook at home."

Yun Feng listened to Su Jin's comfort and a smile immediately appeared on her face: "Sister-in-law, you are the only one who supports me."

"Sister-in-law, wait for these three people, father and son, to slap you in the face." Su Jin told Yun Feng the precautions while cooking.

"That's great! I'll definitely thank my sister-in-law then," Yunfeng said gratefully. "I'll bring my notebook tomorrow to take notes. My memory is always worse than a pen."

When the two were cooking dinner in the kitchen, Zong Li came in from outside the yard.

"Sister-in-law, the two leaders are not coming back for dinner. I will come back to inform them." Zong Li smelled the fragrance of food in the air and his stomach rumbled.

Su Jin finished cleaning the last cucumber seedling, reached out to take Zong Li's lunch box, took out three more lunch boxes to fill with vegetables, and wrapped eight multi-grain steamed buns in oil paper.

"Hurry up and take it and eat together. There are three lunch boxes for Wu Bu and Lin Zhengwei. Let Ayi take care of it." Su Jin stuffed Zong Li's lunch box into his hands. "You have to work late tonight, so come back early and tell me."

"Yes!" Zong Li held four lunch boxes in his left hand and a steamed bun in his right hand.

Song Zhang hurriedly took the lunch box, and the two of them went to the interrogation room together.
