For four consecutive days, Wu Jun, Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao did not return home. Su Jin prepared four midnight snacks every day and placed them on the table in front of the open window. Zong Li could take the lunch boxes and leave through the window.
Su Jin always made an extra portion for herself and went to bed after eating.
During the day, family members gathered under a big tree and gossiped about why the trial results had not been announced.
After Su Jin had breakfast, he picked up a hoe and called Yunfeng and her son to go to their private plot together. Lu Shiyi and Lin Zitao were working, so only two adults and two children could farm the private plots of the two families.
"Sister-in-law, I rarely farm. It's usually Old Lin who does it." Yun Feng leaned over to Su Jin and muttered, "Xiao Lei and Xiao Yan are also following Old Lin in farming. We have to be self-reliant."
"Aunt said she would help." Su Jin and Yun Feng were waiting at the corner of the road.

Some family members who are greedy for cheap food only take some vegetables and will never steal the rations.
Su Jin and Yun Feng nodded hurriedly at Liu Yunshan's words. Su Jin looked at the tilled private plot not far away, where four or five pots filled with vegetable seedlings were placed. She walked to the edge of the private plot and, wearing gloved hands, moved the seedlings into the ground.
Lin Lei and Lin Yan helped Yun Feng plant the seedlings for a while, then ran away with their friends.
It was almost noon when Su Jin planted all the seedlings in the ground. Liu Yunshan invited Yunfeng and Su Jin to go to the cafeteria for lunch together.
"Aunt, I'm going home to have some food and rest." Su Jin refused weakly, "We grow vegetables together at home."

"Ayi, go take a shower and change your clothes, and take a nap with me." Su Jin patted the bed beside her. "I haven't slept well these past few days when you weren't home."
Lu Shiyi leaned over and kissed her forehead, then took her pajamas from the closet and went to the bathroom.
Su Jin put the textbooks and draft book on the bedside table, and put the table back on the ground at the foot of the bed.
After a quick shower, Lu Shiyi lay down beside her, still wet.
"Wife, you've worked hard today." Lu Shiyi had originally wanted to finish the job quickly, so he joined Su Jin in planting vegetables. "Hu Xiaomei will be arrested and taken back to Songjiang Commune. She's the mistress of the director of the Pigeon Committee, and she has connections abroad. Old Mrs. Hu and Hu Xiaomei will be executed in three days."
Lu Shiyi rested his chin on her shoulder and closed his eyes tiredly. He hadn't had a good rest for nearly four days. Lying beside Su Jin, he fell asleep without any effort.
"Ayi, did Mrs. Hu come here illegally?" Su Jin wondered how a small director could have such great ability?
"No, someone up there helped. Old Lady Hu and Hu Xiaomei stole the first-class merit that someone else had risked their life for. Old Lady Hu is back on sick leave." Su Jin hummed and reached out to pat his arm which was resting on the quilt.
"Let's take a nap. We still have to plant vegetables in the yard when we get up." Su Jin's sleep quality was much worse without him by her side.
Lu Shiyi listened to Su Jin's steady breathing, and fell asleep with a smile on his face.
