Chapter 78 First Day at Work

The school officially opened in March. Su Jin rode her bike to the junior high school carrying the cloth bag she had prepared. After receiving the math textbook, she waited in the office for the annual teachers' meeting.

Su Jin took her textbooks to her junior high school teacher's office. She was wearing a white shirt inside and an iron-gray Lenin suit outside, and she walked in wearing a pair of black leather shoes.

"Are you the new teacher?" A male teacher in his 20s greeted me with a smile on his face.

"Hello, I'm the new math teacher for the first grade. I'm a military wife and don't work on weekdays. If you have any work to discuss, please let me know when I'm at work." When Su Jin introduced herself, she made it clear to everyone that she was married.

After he finished speaking, the female teacher's attitude became noticeably better, and they all came forward to greet him.

The male teacher laughed awkwardly: "So she's a military wife. There are many military wives in the school."

"Teacher Su, this is your seat." The female teacher pointed to the desk opposite. "I'm Gong Li, your partner in teaching Chinese to the first grade. Our junior high group leader is Teacher Yun, the ninth grader."

Gong Li has been in junior high school for three years. Yun Feng is considered her master. When Su Jin came, she said that she was married.

"Teacher Gong, I hope we can work together well and teach our students well together." Su Jin extended her hand to shake his. "Teacher Yun is Teacher Yunfeng?"

"Xiao Jin!" Yun Feng had just finished a meeting at the school office when she heard Su Jin's voice, "You came early today."

"Sister-in-law, today is the first day of reporting in." Su Jin smiled.

"My husband, Lao Lin's partner's wife, a high school graduate from Jiangsu and Zhejiang, is here to teach math at our school." Yunfeng is the head of the junior high school group. "Every class teacher's class, after school at 10:30, we will hold a class meeting in the group office."

The teachers from the teaching department took the teaching materials to the office, and the teachers who served as class teachers got up and went to their respective classes.

Yunfeng began to clean her desk, which was on Su Jin's left.

"Sister-in-law, I see that the teachers in the office seem easy to get along with. Do the male teachers specifically target the new female teachers?" Su Jin asked curiously.

"That's right." Yunfeng whispered to Su Jin, "The female teachers are all married, and most of the male teachers are educated youth who just want to do less labor."

Su Jin spread her hands and said, "After I came in, the four teachers looked at me like I was evaluating a commodity. I don't want to be a commodity."

Yun Feng handed Su Jin the first-year class schedule: "Copy it down first. One month before the end of the semester, you can use the physical education and music classes as review classes."

"The finals are already stressful, and if you ask the kids to use their favorite courses to review their core subjects, they'll rebel," Su Jin warned Yunfeng. "It would be terrible if their classmates found out."

Yunfeng listened to Su Jin's reminder and gave her a thumbs up to praise her.

"I can't do what I did before. I won't take anyone's classes this semester." Yun Feng made the promise.

There were only two people in the junior high school office. Two ideology and morality teachers and one physical education teacher were absent, and the rest of the teachers had gone to the classroom.

"I applied to stop being the class teacher because I wanted to spend more time with my sons. But I was appointed as the team leader, which means more work than before." Yunfeng was a little undecided, not knowing whether to continue holding the position.

"Sister-in-law, please listen to my advice. It's better to be an ordinary teacher and stay out of trouble." Su Jin remembered that in the next two years, teachers would be hit harder. "Can you give me a copy of the school's past exam papers?"

Yunfeng nodded, turned around, took the test paper from the cabinet and handed it to Su Jin.

"What are you doing with these papers?" Yun Feng became curious. "After every final exam, the papers are always placed here."

"I plan to make a test to find out the basics, at least to know the specific situation of the children." Su Jin not only wants to teach knowledge, but also wants the children to learn real knowledge.

Perhaps, when the college entrance examination was resumed, children were able to take the college entrance examination, and the first batch of college students were highly valued.

Yunfeng thought this was a good idea, so she took out the test paper and started working on it while sitting at her desk.

Su Jin first looked at the students on the roster and found that many of the children from the staff housing complex had already stayed in the first grade for two years.

"Sister-in-law, I see that this is the third New Year's Day for these five people?" Su Jin circled the five names with a pen.

"These five people joined the army five years ago," Yunfeng explained their family backgrounds. "They were always in the bottom five of their class on exams every year, never passing a single time."

Five students received their report cards and were beaten every time they returned home. Fortunately, these families valued their grandchildren's studies, so they were able to repeat the grade again and again.

After listening to Yun Feng's introduction, Su Jin took out a notebook from her bag with her right hand and gave the math problems to the students. Starting from the fifth grade of elementary school, one test paper was given to each grade, and two test papers were given separately in the first class.

After Su Jin finished the test, he wrote the answers to each question in his notebook.

"Xiao Jin, your idea is great. Students are definitely just thinking about playing during the holidays. They always mess around with their winter and summer homework." Yun Feng praised. "Let them know their shortcomings before class. They're going to high school in the third year of junior high, and they'll need to make up for it."

Just after 10 o'clock, students passed by the office one after another and went home.

The teachers also came back one after another. Yunfeng began to say that starting this year, teachers and students would go to the village to help with spring plowing and autumn harvest.

"Team leader, do we all have to go now?" Several male teachers asked. They were admitted to junior high school from the village to avoid heavy labor.

"Yes, everyone should go!" Yunfeng said to several male teachers, "After the spring plowing and autumn harvest holidays, you will go back to your villages to help. The school will contact your village brigade headquarters."

"Participating in labor everywhere is what we should do. Students will also participate. Shouldn't the homeroom teacher set an example?" Yun Feng looked at the others and said, "This is a requirement set by the school. There's no point in arguing with me."

The male teachers shut up. If they wanted to avoid working, they would probably have to find helpers in the village.

After the meeting, Yunfeng and Su Jin rode their bikes back to the family compound. The two children received the books and started reading according to Su Jin's instructions.

When Yunfeng and Xiaojin returned home, the two children came to greet them directly.

"Mom, my brother and I came back with books, and my brother said that some people in his class stopped going to school." Lin Yan heard Lin Lei mention that his classmates had dropped out of school.

Yunfeng nodded, comforted the two children, and turned to go to the kitchen to help Su Jin cook.

"Since entering junior high school, there are people dropping out at the beginning of each semester, and there are even more students dropping out in high school." Yunfeng told the situation in the neighborhood that most girls are taken care of at home after finishing elementary school.

Su Jin was cutting vegetables on the side, and Yun Feng was standing in front of the stove cooking. Under Su Jin's guidance, Yun Feng's cooking skills became delicious.

"You'll be able to cook for yourself in a few days!" Su Jin noticed that Yun Feng was a little reserved while eating here. "We have a lot of things to buy when we go back. Can I give you some kitchen seasonings first?"

"Okay!" Yun Feng didn't hesitate and took it directly.
