Chapter 40 Wild Ginseng (2/2)

Xu Wanning bravely walked a little further inside with the basket on her back, wanting to see if there was anything good.

After searching for a while but not seeing any pheasants or rabbits, I was about to return empty-handed when I suddenly found a very strange "weed" in the grass not far away. It had many small red berries on its head, which looked quite beautiful.

Xu Wanning walked over curiously with the basket on her back, and took a closer look. Could this be wild ginseng? Could she be so lucky?

She stepped forward and carefully dug up the soil with her hands. When she looked at the roots, she saw that they were indeed rare wild ginseng!

She remembered that when she was little, her grandfather, a Chinese medicine practitioner, had shown her several medical books, which recorded: "Ginseng, named after its human-shaped root, has always been known as the 'King of Herbs'.

Ginseng has the effect of greatly replenishing Qi and blood. Even more miraculously, it can restore the pulse and strengthen the body. Even when a person's Qi and blood are both deficient and their pulse is weak, a large amount of wild ginseng boiled and stewed can help restore their pulse."

What's more, this is an extremely precious wild ginseng, and its medicinal value is much better than the cultivated ginseng in later generations.

"Ningning, where are you?"

"Xu Zhiqing, where are you? Please don't go too far."

The anxious voices of Lin Qiqi and Aunt Wang came from not far away.

Xu Wanning quickly dug out the ginseng and moved it into the Taoyuan space. She then took out two wild rabbits and a pheasant from the space and put them in the backpack.

Xu Wanning turned around and shouted behind her:

"Aunt Wang, Qiqi, I'm here!"

Aunt Wang came over anxiously, and was shocked to see that she had actually come here. She pulled her down the mountain.

"Xu Zhiqing, why are you here?"

"If you go any further, you'll find yourself in the deep mountains. Be careful of wolves!"

Xu Wanning felt a little embarrassed. She really didn't mean to cause trouble for Aunt Wang. She was just busy looking for pheasants and rabbits, and ended up here while walking.

Xu Wanning blushed and explained in a low voice:

"Aunt Wang, I'm sorry!"

"I just ended up here chasing a pheasant!"

Wang Daqian saw that the girl seemed quite nice. It was normal for her to chase such a long distance for a pheasant. After all, who wouldn't chase a pheasant nowadays? He waved his hand and said:

"It's okay, Xu Zhiqing, just be careful next time!"

As soon as Lin Qiqi saw her, she ran over, took her arm and muttered:

"Ningning, you scared me to death!"

"I thought something happened to you!"

Wang Daying frowned and sighed, recalling things from his early years.

"Wild wolves often appear near these deep mountains."

"In the early years, no one had enough to eat. Some families in the village were so hungry that they wanted to go into the mountains to get something to eat. They sneaked in and ended up encountering wild wolves and lost their lives."

"In recent years, the captain has started to organize some experienced hunters to lead everyone to hunt in the mountains."

"Especially that kid Han Jinghuai, he's young but he's done something really bad!"

"Don't underestimate him because he's only in his twenties. Since he was seventeen, he could kill a wild boar and carry it back by himself."

"So every time the village organizes a hunting trip into the mountains, the captain always lets him lead the way!"

"Let's just wait for the wild boar meat. That guy can get several wild boars every year."

Xu Wanning didn't expect that Han Jinghuai would go into the mountains to hunt at such a young age. No wonder he could catch so many pheasants and rabbits easily.

"Aunt Wang, why did Han Jinghuai start hunting at such a young age?"

"The mountains are so dangerous, how could he dare to go there alone?"
