Chapter 132 Lantern Festival 01

Duolu quietly moved his bowl away from Gao Guojing, thinking that his brothers had already given meat to Uncle Guojing, and he had given meat to him before. Uncle Guojing had eaten a lot of meat, so he didn't need to give him any more, right?

Gao Guojing was genuinely aggrieved that there weren't as many good foods available in Jiangcheng after he returned.

Later, when he saw Duolu giving him a piece of meat with a pained expression, the young Gao Guojing thought Duolu's conflicted little expression was too cute.

So he hatched a wicked plan, wanting to enjoy his conflicted little expression more, and began to play the victim even more. Although he failed to fool Dorjee again, he did manage to get meat from his other three nephews.

Gao Guojing's performance fooled a few young children, but it couldn't fool the old monster Yu Rujia, who thought to himself that this man was becoming more and more successful, actually trying to swindle children's flesh.

Yu Rujia interrupted Gao Guojing's plan to cast another spell: "Guojing, after you finish eating, come with me to grind some glutinous rice flour. Today is the Lantern Festival, we'll eat tangyuan tonight."

Upon hearing about the new food, Duolu, who had been struggling with his decision, immediately forgot about Gao Guojing and even stopped waving his spoon: "Auntie, are the glutinous rice balls delicious?"

Duofu nodded confidently and said, "It will definitely taste delicious."

Duo Shou mumbled, "That's right, Auntie would never make anything that doesn't taste good."

Duolu: "Auntie, please make more tangyuan, I want to eat lots and lots of tangyuan."

Duoxi buried his face in the basin, listening to the others talking amongst themselves, completely unaware of what his older brothers were saying, but the word "eat" struck a nerve.

Duoxi puffed out her cheeks and mumbled, "Eat, eat, eat, it's delicious, it's delicious."

Seeing that the little ones' attention was drawn to the glutinous rice balls and no one paid attention to him, and unable to see the troubled expressions on his nephews' faces, Gao Guojing couldn't help but reach out and press down on the bouncy, happy Duoxi.

Gao Guojing: All you do is eat, eat, eat. You should eat properly now, look at how you're making a mess everywhere.

Duo Xi's big eyes darted to the table, and sure enough, a few grains of rice had fallen next to his bowl. He chuckled guiltily, making Gao Guojing's forehead twitch.

Gao Guojing glanced at his spoon, which was overflowing with food, and instructed, "Eat slowly, and don't fill your spoon this much at once. Fill it up after you finish eating, understand?"

Upon receiving the instruction, Duoxi scooped a little food from the spoon into the bowl and asked, "Is that okay?"

Gao Guojing: "This is fine. Remember this amount. Don't scoop more rice or dishes later."

That's what they say, but with Doshi's memory being a few seconds shorter than Doro's, the little guy definitely wouldn't remember it.

Seeing that the uncle and nephew had agreed, Yu Rujia continued, "After you finish cleaning the table and tidying up the house, how about we have some delicious glutinous rice balls for dinner?"

Duolu lifted his rice bowl, patted his little chest, and said, "Leave it to me."

Duo Shou glanced at him and said, "Just don't hold us back."

Duofu had obviously thought of this as well: "Duolu will take Duoxi to play somewhere else later, and Big Brother and Duoshou will sweep the floor."

Despite not being disliked at all, Duolu still insisted, "I want to sweep the floor as my aunt says, and I'll eat lots of glutinous rice balls tonight."

Duofu is a good older brother and won't dampen his younger brothers' enthusiasm: "Okay then, but if you cause trouble, you'll have to share some of the glutinous rice balls with me and Duoshou tonight."

Dorjee clearly lacked self-awareness, confidently declaring, "I won't cause any trouble."

After the glutinous rice flour was ground, while Gao Guojing was kneading the dough, Yu Rujia prepared the fillings that would be used later: peanuts, black sesame seeds, honey...

After sweeping for a while, Duolu lost interest, threw down the broom, and ran into the restaurant, followed by his little tagalong Duoxi.

Gao Guojing kneaded the glutinous rice flour into various shapes, which made Duolu's eyes light up: "Uncle Guojing, I want to play too."

Kao Kuo-Ching: "Don't play with food, or there won't be any left to eat later."

Hearing that there was no food, Duolu withdrew his eager little hand: "Uncle Guojing, I don't want to play, I want to do it with you."

Gao Guojing: "Once Uncle Guojing has kneaded the dough, we can make tangyuan together."

Having made an appointment with Gao Guojing, Duolu scurried over to Yu Rujia's side. Smelling the sweet fragrance, his saliva involuntarily began to flow.

Duolu stretched his neck closer to the filling being prepared: "It smells so good and sweet, Auntie, can I have some first?"

Yu Rujia: "Auntie hasn't finished cooking yet. Once she's done, Duolu will have something to eat."

Duolu eagerly replied, "Auntie, I can do it with you."

When Duofu, who was sweeping outside, noticed that Duolu and Duoxi were nowhere to be seen, he asked one of the twins who was diligently sweeping the floor, "Duoshou, have you seen where Duolu and Duoxi went?"

Duoshou had always been worried about Duolu, so he paid more attention to him while he was working. When he saw that Duolu had stopped causing trouble and put the broom aside, he did not stop him from leaving.

Duoshou: "They went to Auntie's."

Duofu put the broom aside and came over to Yu Rujia's side, wanting to see if his two younger brothers were causing trouble.

As soon as they entered, they heard Duolu saying he was going to make tangyuan (sweet rice balls) with Yu Rujia. Duofu asked, "Duolu, Duoxi, didn't you wash your hands?"

Duolu knew he should wash his hands after sweeping the floor, having been reminded several times, but he was preoccupied with the glutinous rice balls and forgot to do so.

Hearing Duofu's question, Duolu felt a little guilty: "I'll come and wash right away."

Duoxi followed behind on tiptoe: "Wash it."

Duofu said with a stern face, "How many times have I told you? You must wash your hands before touching food. If I find you touching food without washing your hands again, I will ask Auntie not to give you any treats."

"There are still some areas that haven't been swept. You two go play in the backyard for a while, and after we finish sweeping, come over and help your aunt make tangyuan."

Under the supervision of their older brother, Duofu, the two little ones obediently followed him until they finished sweeping the floor and washed their hands before coming over again.

Duoshou's dark, grape-like eyes stared at the filling in Yu Rujia's hand: "Auntie, is this tangyuan? It smells so good, it must be delicious."

Yu Rujia: "This is the filling for tangyuan. Later, we'll combine it with the dough from Uncle Guojing's side to make tangyuan. Duoshou, how about you make tangyuan with your aunt?"

Duoshou rubbed his little hands together, eager to try: "Okay."

Gao Guojing's dough had almost risen. Hearing that Yu Rujia's filling was ready, he took out the dough, kneaded it a few more times, divided it into small portions, rolled out the wrappers, and placed them on the board.

Yu Rujia took a piece of dough and demonstrated: "Babies, this is how you make tangyuan. Take a piece of dough in your hand, then scoop a spoonful of filling onto the dough, then pinch it closed and roll it into a ball. See, isn't it round?"
