Chapter 133 Lantern Festival 02

Duofu picked up a piece of leather and followed Yu Rujia's movements, quickly making a passable imitation. Duoshou learned just as fast. Both children were highly intelligent and skillful.

On the other hand, Duolu started playing with the leather as soon as he got it, pressing it with his little paws: "Auntie, this is so soft, it's so nice to squeeze."

Duoxi took the leather and started kneading it with his second brother. He quickly turned a perfectly good piece of leather into a ball: "Hehehe, this is fun."

Yu Rujia: "Duolu, Duoxi, stop playing around. Come on, scoop the filling into the dough to make tangyuan."

Duofu was scooping out filling with a spoon when Duolu came over and started to imitate him.

As soon as Duofu put down the spoon, the little guy picked up the spoon and scooped a spoonful of filling into his own wrapper, but he didn't put it in properly and the filling spilled out of the wrapper.

The little guy's big eyes darted around, thinking no one had noticed what was happening. He quickly reached out, picked up the filling that had fallen onto the board, and threw it into his mouth. The sweet filling instantly made him fall in love with the taste.

Her big eyes darted around, then she spotted the filling hidden in the dough in her hand. She secretly turned her back and popped the filling into her mouth.

While stealing food, Duolu didn't forget to sneakily observe the people around him. When he saw Duoxi looking over and about to speak, he quickly stuffed the little bit of filling he had left between his fingers into Duoxi's mouth.

There's a strong sense that everyone is an accomplice, and no one should speak out against the other.

Once Duoxi tasted it, he didn't have time to say anything.

The two little dumplings thought their little actions were very discreet, but the four people next to them could see them clearly.

Duo Shou, with a fierce yet endearing expression, exposed her twin brother's little trick: "Duo Lu, you're not allowed to steal food."

Caught red-handed, Duolu instinctively stretched out his hand holding the leather bag: "Here, I didn't steal any food."

Duoxi supported his second brother, saying in a childish voice, "No, I didn't eat."

If it weren't for the black sesame seeds stuck to their lips, one might actually be fooled by their earnest little faces.

Duoshou glanced at it and asked, "This is the wrapper, where's the filling?"

Seeing that he couldn't be fooled, Duolu looked left and right, looking for a chance to escape. Just then, he saw Duofu about to put the filling into the dough, so he quickly went over and said, "Brother, let me see how you do it."

While saying he wanted to watch, he was actually secretly observing whether Duoshou was following. The usually naive little guy's intelligence really skyrocketed when it came to food.

It seems this guy isn't completely brainless; he just doesn't take other things seriously.

Now that Duolu has gained some intelligence, his mischievous and cunning appearance makes one want to give him a good smack, but unfortunately Yu Rujia is too busy to do so, so she can only let the little guy do his thing.

Duofu acted like an older brother, knowing that Duolu was just looking for an excuse to get rid of Duoshou, but he didn't expose the little guy's intentions and patiently taught him how to make tangyuan (sweet rice balls).

Duofu, with a serious expression, said, "Watch carefully. Put this much filling into the dough, then pinch the opening like this, roll it up, and a glutinous rice ball is done. Come on, take out your dough, and I'll put the filling in for you."

When Duolu took the leather out of his hand, it was already tattered and torn.

Duofu was in a dilemma and turned to Yu Rujia to ask, "Auntie, what should we do if Duolu's skin is torn?"

Both he and Duoshou are skillful, and glutinous rice balls are easy to make. The two little ones learned how to wrap glutinous rice balls without even breaking the skin. It was the first time I had ever seen skin so rotten.

Duolu had already forgotten what Duoshou had said to him earlier, and instead looked pitifully at the tattered skin on his hand and went to Yu Rujia for help: "Auntie, it's torn."

Yu Rujia took the wrapper he handed her, mended the torn part with her hands, put the filling inside, rolled it into a ball and put it down: "Okay, Auntie has finished making this glutinous rice ball. Duolu, take another wrapper."

Duoxi pushed her own leather over as well: "Auntie, it's torn."

This isn't even broken, it's more like a potion. Luckily, it's not dirty. Yu Rujia took the potion from his hand: "Auntie, take a look."

Yu Rujia manually processed the dough, turning it into a good wrapper. She added the filling, rolled it up, and a perfect glutinous rice ball was born.

Yu Rujia: "Alright, let's use other leathers then."

With Duofu's guidance, Duolu finally managed to wrap a glutinous rice ball, but the outside was covered with filling, making it hard to tell whether it was glutinous rice dough wrapped around filling or filling wrapped around glutinous rice dough.

Luckily, it's food for our own family, so as long as it's clean, we don't really care about the appearance.

Thinking he had mastered making tangyuan (sweet rice balls), Duolu started teaching Duoxi, and the two of them ended up making another Duolu-branded tangyuan. Unaware of their own ignorance, they continued to create one Duolu-branded tangyuan after another.

Fortunately, neither of them had much patience. After playing for a while, they didn't want to stay and started clamoring to go out and play.

Yu Rujia: "Duofu, go help Duolu and Duoxi wash their hands and let them go play."

Duofu: "Duolu, Duoxi, wait a moment. I'll take you to wash your hands after I finish making these glutinous rice balls."

With the combined efforts of the family, they successfully finished wrapping the glutinous rice balls before Gao Shujing returned.

Remembering Jiang Damei's help yesterday, Yu Rujia took out three large bowls and picked out some good glutinous rice balls to put into the bowls.

Gao Shujing came home a little earlier today, arriving around 4 p.m., with a large bag of things strapped to the back of his bicycle.

Yu Rujia: "You're back so early. Have you finished your work at the Xiafen Brigade?"

Gao Shujing: "Today is the Lantern Festival, and Captain Xu asked me to come back early to celebrate."

Yu Rujia: "He's a really nice guy. You're back just in time. I've prepared three bowls of glutinous rice balls. Go and deliver them to Sister Guihua's family, one to the brigade leader's family, and one to Sister Jiang's family."

When Duolu heard that they were going out, he grabbed Gao Shujing's trouser leg and said, "Uncle, I want to go, I want to go."

Duoxi mimicked his actions, grabbing the other trouser leg and saying, "Go away, go away."

Gao Shujing said helplessly, "Okay, after I put my things away and wash my hands, I'll take you there, okay?"

The two children, having received permission, let go of his trouser legs and followed closely behind him, afraid that Gao Shujing would run away without them.

Yu Rujia looked through the things Gao Shujing brought back. Wow, there was mutton, venison, pork belly, eight pig's feet, two pheasants and a rabbit. That adds up to dozens of pounds of meat.

Yu Rujia: "Did the Xiafen Brigade go into the mountains today?"

Gao Shujing: "Yes, it's a holiday, so we were thinking of getting something good to eat. Captain Xu organized the team to go into the mountains."

Yu Rujia: "You brought back so much meat, don't the people in Xiafen Brigade have any objections?"

How many game must have been hunted to allow Gao Shujing to get so much meat?
