Chapter 563

(Signs of opening one's eyes)

1. Arif, Jack, Gray, Sonnard, Keiber, Jones, Allen, Vian, Cyvan, Baye—

"Red Blade" Shane Minette will never forget the so-called "comrades" who died by his sword because of their betrayal.

Not only the eldest, but the memories of the other two were also so clear.

They still remembered it as a terrifying night. The moonlight cast a strange, eerie crimson color on the ground, far from its pure white hue.

Their eyes were filled with an evil mist. But it wasn't an illusion; the three survivors knew it all too well. At that moment, the pungent stench of blood was far stronger than in any previous battle.

In fact, the secret operation was aimed at eliminating traitors within the organization, and only five people within the organization knew about it, all of whom had already been cleared of suspicion.

The elite mercenary group of thirteen, known as the "Midnight Slayers," was originally ordered by the king to go to the royal capital, Gransis. On their way, they passed through a vast forest called the "Emerald Snow Forest."

Red Blade planned to carry out his plan in the forest, eliminating the traitors before heading to the capital—but he never expected that the traitors would preemptively launch an assassination.

They first used witchcraft to ignite mysterious smoke in the forest, creating a mist. The leader, Red Blade, was once again surprised to find that, apart from the five who knew about the secret operation, everyone else had betrayed them.

The leader was forced to kill his own comrades, and together with four others, they faced eight traitors. After the battle, the remaining comrades were heavy-hearted.

Although they didn't kill many people, their weapons seemed to be stained with a thick layer of blood.

Just as Red Blade thought he had finished the cleanup and was preparing to leave the forest, the other two launched a sneak attack. After a fierce battle, only three Midnight Slayers remained—Red Blade, Thin Blade, and Continued Blade—and they have remained so ever since, without accepting any new members.

Hongren took a nap, using the time to recall past nightmares, and wasn't feeling too well.

When he woke up, he found that Xu Ren and Bo Ren were talking. He was in the cellar, lying on a pile of hay, and his beloved sword had not been touched by anyone else.

The cellar was where the three of them rested temporarily. It was somewhat dark, and only some simple household items were scattered around it.

When Xu Ren saw that the boss had woken up, he cast a cold glance at him, indicating, "Oh, you're finally awake." This had become the norm.

Although they all called Hongren the leader, none of them cared about their status.

Xu Ren reprimanded Hong Ren for what happened last night: "Boss was completely powerless against that guy."

After hearing this, Bo Ren turned to look at the boss, her expression unchanged. Sometimes it really makes you wonder if she has always been wearing a mask to represent her colleagues.

If it weren't for the exquisite craftsmanship of this "mask," such an unchanging expression would truly leave one feeling somewhat helpless.

"Boss, you seem to be letting your guard down."

Red Blade shrugged and sat up.

"Actually, at that time I was still hesitant about whether to kill him or not. It would be better to spare his life, so that we could have another bargaining chip to use to blackmail Yug."

He stood up and sheathed the greatsword behind his back, handling it with the same care as if it were a pet.

"To eliminate the enemy, 'Bloodlust' is enough. You all know how terrifying it is."

Hongren's expression changed after she finished speaking. The two stopped talking and went back to their own work.

The secret hidden within the crimson greatsword is the Achilles' heel of the Crimson Blade, Shane.

Thin Blade was feeding the crow familiars with corn, one of which had red feathers and was the same one that Red Blade had seen that night.

After a long pause, she finally managed to say, "Actually, Yug won't be easily blackmailed by us. You want to use Felsa to restrain Yug? Are you kidding me? But I'm sure he'll come and offer up the Wind Vortex Stone."

Red Blade raised his voice and said "Oh".

Xu Ren was wiping his weapon. It was so sharp that it had torn the cloth in several places, which lay scattered on the ground.

By the light of the oil lamp, the blade gleamed with a dark red light. Red Blade wondered if traces of blood from past murders of traitors still lingered on it.

Bloodstains can be washed away, but betrayal cannot.

Red Blade said to him, "As for you, Xu Blade, you said you'd take care of that guy yourself. Alright, he's yours now. I already know where their next destination is."

As Thin Blade said, it doesn't matter whether Philsa lives or dies; the Wind Vortex Stones will eventually come to us. We just need to go back to the base and wait quietly.

In response, Xu Ren coldly replied, "I don't need your orders. Look, I'm preparing the knife to slit his throat. I prefer to take the initiative, not wait for others."

After saying that, he put away the knife, got up to take back the coat hanging on the wall, and prepared to go out. He left without hesitation.

At the same time, Thin Blade also left the cellar, releasing his familiar to gather intelligence.

2. The two stepped into the central region of the Star Dawn Continent.

Several days had passed since that night, and although Philsa was still flustered and worried, she had to face the facts.

During their journey, the two men kept inquiring about the whereabouts of Yog Huckleberry.

He vanished without a trace, as if he had evaporated into thin air. Given this situation, it's truly difficult not to speculate.

"Will you always believe in your companion?" The monitor realized it wasn't time for him to reveal himself yet. He decided to continue tracking.

The monitors are very concerned about Firza's movements, even though he is not currently aligned with any faction.

Normally, such a minor task as monitoring targets could be delegated to his subordinates, but given his close relationship with Firsa in the past, he decided to do it personally.

Moreover, there was one more thing he needed to confirm, which was about Philsa's swordsmanship training after he lost his sight.

Firsa couldn't stop thinking. Gerlu was quite skilled; she must have been ambushed and was unconscious, but Yug should have been with her at the time.
