Suddenly, a large number of ghostly creatures appeared, and the spirit-suppressing spell was extinguished in an instant. We hurriedly ran towards the exit, only to be horrified to find that the exit was teeming with densely packed desiccated corpses, making it impossible to pass through.
This was an incredibly terrifying scene, like stepping into hell, with vengeful ghosts claiming lives. Below, on the altar, blood gushed out of the blood coffin like a waterfall.
Xiang Fei glanced around and said, "There's a hole above the cave. Let's go try it."
We lit the pine resin, which stopped the mummified corpses from attacking, and the three of us quickly climbed up. There were several stone holes of different sizes on the cave wall, but we didn't know what they were used for.
We had no other choice at the moment, so we just picked one and ran in. We threw a few clumps of pine resin into the cave entrance to temporarily block the mummified corpse.
I don't know how far I ran, but when I sat down to catch my breath, I realized that Xiang Fei and the black cat were gone. Looking around, I saw that the cave had split into several sections, like a maze.
"Oh no," I thought to myself. Now that the three of us are separated, it's like we've lost our ability to look after each other. The fact that our strength has been divided has undoubtedly put us in a dangerous situation.
I sat on the ground to rest for a while, drank some water, and ate a piece of bread. Only when my strength had been almost fully restored did I stand up, grab my shotgun, turn off the headlamp, and use my tactical flashlight to light the way, exploring step by step ahead.
A chilling wind swept through, and as I arrived at this point, I found myself in a cave resembling a valley, with cliffs on both sides carved out by human hands. If the hanging coffins I saw upon entering were a burial ground, then this place was a kingdom of hanging coffins.
The cliffs on both sides are densely packed with coffins, at least a thousand in total, and all of them are quite well preserved, with the lids still in place, clearly indicating that these hanging coffins have not been disturbed.
The scene was both breathtaking and terrifying, with the valley stretching for at least four or five hundred meters.
"What should I do?" I hesitated. It was impossible to go back, but to walk into this place full of hanging coffins, I wouldn't believe myself if I said I wasn't afraid.
Just as I was hesitating, I heard a rustling sound coming from the cave behind me.
I immediately felt a chill run down my spine; I knew without a doubt that those mummies had followed me in.
Without a second thought, I jumped down and found a secluded spot to hide. Soon after, the mummies swarmed out. These mummies were controlled by evil magic and had no consciousness of their own; they acted entirely according to the person controlling them.
The cave entrance was densely packed with mummified corpses, all crawling there, seemingly waiting for orders; clearly, they hadn't noticed me.
Moreover, these mummies seemed to be somewhat afraid of this place, lingering at the cave entrance for a while before finally retreating.
I stepped out, the tactical flashlight glaringly bright in the dark valley. I tried my best not to look at the hanging coffins on either side and walked forward.
A chill ran down my back, and a cold wind kept blowing. It felt like countless eyes were watching me from behind. When I touched my clothes, they were covered in cold sweat.
Twenty-two Dragon Veins (5)
I quickened my pace and headed towards the other side of the valley. After walking a short distance, I saw wooden plank walkways connecting to the cliff above the valley, clearly intended for people to pass through.
I turned on my headlamp, and the bright light shone down to the end of the valley, where there was another cliff.
It has been leveled by human hands. In the center, there is a square groove, about the size of a double bed, with a stone path on each side.
I examined it with the light and saw a black wooden coffin in the latrine, a full third larger than the other coffins.
On the stone wall, ancient Shu people murals are carved. Unlike the ones we saw before, these murals depict scenes of Shu people worshipping.
A man stands in the center of the square, seemingly reciting something to the worshipping people of Shu. However, the mural only shows the man's back; his face is not visible.
The other mural, however, shocked and bewildered me. It depicted a bronze human face, with the Shu people worshipping it devoutly. In front of the bronze human face sat a man in a white robe.
The mural depicts a frontal view, but strangely, the man wears a bronze mask, obscuring his face.
I glanced at the man and a chill ran down my spine. Although he was wearing a bronze mask, his eyes emitted a strange, eerie green light, as if he were looking at me.
I should have been afraid, but for some reason, a strong sense of curiosity suddenly arose in my heart. Judging from the form of this tomb, the person buried in this coffin must be of extremely high status, perhaps even the man wearing the bronze mask in the mural.
Driven by intense curiosity, I went over there. Just in case, I lit the Soul-Suppressing Lamp and walked up the stone path on the cliff.
At the top of the sink, there were several transparent night owls, which immediately lit up with a crystalline glow when the light shone on them.
I walked over to the coffin and looked at it. The coffin was made of black wood, a type of wood that only appeared in ancient times. It is also called Yin wood, which is as hard as rock and will not decay under natural conditions. It is said that a body buried in it can remain intact.
I don't know where I got the courage, but I actually opened the coffin lid. "Hey, there's nothing there."
I looked into the coffin and found there was no body at all, only a white tiger skin laid out inside. Just as I was wondering what was going on, I suddenly saw bright red blood flowing out of the coffin, but after wiping my eyes, it was gone.
I broke out in a cold sweat, a wave of fear washing over me. The courage I had just felt vanished. Just as I was about to leave, I noticed a dark figure beside me.
