As soon as he finished speaking, the old blind man's face changed. "No way? We haven't even dug it out yet, and it's already out by itself."

"What are you still looking at? Hurry up and leave!" The old blind man had already run off.
Xiang Fei and I ran out as well, but when we got to the city gate, we found that it was already closed. We pushed it, but there was no response.

There happened to be a row of houses not far away, which looked like a place for the people in the palace to rest. Without hesitation, we quickly hid inside.
Looking out through the cracks in the doors and windows, we saw that the soil on the mound was loosening faster and faster, until it finally cracked open. To our horror, a person slowly crawled out. This person looked like he was soaking in blood, his whole body was red, and a viscous liquid was flowing out.
He let out a strange laugh and walked towards the Hall of Ascension behind him.
We didn't dare breathe, and only collapsed to the ground after it had gone far away. "Was that Gu Li?"
"I don't know. It's covered in blood and we can't see its face at all. This is too strange. What is this thing?" The old blind man and I looked at Xiang Fei together.
"Don't ask me, I don't know either. This is the first time I've ever seen it. But it should be related to 'corpse raising'. I wonder if it's an ancient Shu method of becoming an immortal."

Xiang Fei and I followed his hand and looked there. There was a curtain, the white gauze hazy, and a figure was faintly visible.
A gust of wind blew from somewhere, opening a corner of the curtain. We saw a table inside, and in front of the table, a woman in red was sitting with her back to us.
Seeing this red-clad figure terrified me, and I broke out in a cold sweat. Could it be the vengeful ghost in red?
The atmosphere was incredibly quiet. None of us spoke, and the woman in red sat there motionless, like a piece of wood.
After a long while, the old blind man asked cautiously, "Could it be a dummy?"
Xiang Fei and I shook our heads and continued to observe for a while. Seeing that there was still no movement, we were no longer so scared.
Xiang Fei made a gesture, and we slowly approached. Sweating profusely, we walked behind the woman in red. I gestured for the old blind man to go first.
Who knew that the old man would fail at the crucial moment and refuse to go up no matter what. In the end, Xiang Fei went over and walked up to the woman in red.
The old blind man and I watched him nervously, and he waved to us, saying, "It's a corpse, not a ghost."
Upon hearing this, the old blind man and I breathed a sigh of relief and went over.
The woman in red was indeed a corpse, but she was very well preserved, with even her skin still somewhat rosy, and there was obvious blood at the corner of her mouth.

“She was probably poisoned,” Xiang Fei said, pointing to the wine bottle on the table.
The old blind man and I also realized that it was because she was poisoned that all the bodies were preserved like this. It was obviously a highly toxic poison that would kill instantly if ingested, without any struggle or pain.
But I saw deep resentment on the woman's face, so it seemed she hadn't drunk it willingly, but she had no choice either.
For some reason, seeing her gave me a strange feeling, as if I had seen her somewhere before, as if she was looking at me?
I looked closely at her face and was horrified to see that the woman gave me a strange smile. Just then, I heard footsteps outside again. Without thinking, I ran to the window with Xiang Fei, the old blind man, and looked outside.
To our surprise, it turned out to be Uncle Liu from Hunan and his group of four or five. Besides his two apprentices, there were two unfamiliar men. I looked at Xiang Fei, and he shook his head, not recognizing the two men either.
The group whispered among themselves before heading towards the Hall of Ascension. The arrival of Uncle Liu and his group from Hunan would undoubtedly complicate matters further.
"Should we follow them?" the old blind man asked.
"Let's not go in there. It's not a safe place. We might even lose our lives if we go in," I quickly objected. I glanced into the canopy instinctively and was immediately horrified. "The red-clad female corpse is gone?"
Xiang Fei and the old blind man were also taken aback. The three of us immediately ran inside, looked around, and there was no trace of the woman in red.
They looked at each other. "Could she have run away on her own?"
"That's impossible," Xiang Fei said, his brows furrowed. "I clearly saw a female corpse just now. Even if it's a corpse demon, it shouldn't look like this. It's impossible for it to be a ghost."
"Besides, there's only one exit from this place. Even if she were alive, we should have been able to find her, but we didn't hear a sound just now."
