After resting for a while, we continued forward and finally a stone staircase appeared in front of us. As we walked up, a dim light shone from ahead. When we went over to take a look, we were shocked to find that we had actually arrived in a ghost town.
"Hehe, this is going to be fun. We've come to the ghost town again. It seems that Black Cat and the old blind man have also come in."
The ghost city was shrouded in a thick fog, shrouded in darkness. Xiang Fei and I walked out, and the exit was right there where the bronze human-faced statue stood. Last time we came in, we turned this place upside down, destroying most of the ghost city and causing heavy losses to the Shu people inside. Now it was obviously night, and the Shu people had all gone to sleep. The empty ghost city seemed silent and still.
We tiptoed out. The row of houses in front of us had all been burned down, and we didn't know where the remaining Shu people had gone. The fog was getting thicker and thicker, and even though Xiang Fei and I were right next to each other, we could only see a blurry figure.
I groped my way toward the city wall, but a cold wind blew from behind, and we quickly hid to the side. The group of ghostly soldiers reappeared, carrying the same black coffin. I didn't know where they were going or why they were walking around.
After the ghostly soldiers passed by, we went up to the city wall and looked down at the ghost city from the top. It looked somewhat illusory. The entire ghost city was shrouded in mist, like a fairyland in the clouds.
At one end of the city wall, rows of corpses lay hanging down. They all appeared to be Shu people. Their hands were bound and they had been hanging from the beams for so long that they had become mummies.
Swaying in the wind, rows of mummified corpses' feet swayed at a glance. Soon, a strange sound rang out in the city, and then the Shu people emerged one after another from various places, all like walking corpses, and then began to eat.
We've seen this before. These Shu people eat ancient corpses. After eating, they start the ritual. Xiang Fei and I quietly went down and robbed two Shu people in a secluded place. Just like last time, we disguised ourselves as Shu people and blended in.
Following these Shu people to the square, the scene was just like the last time. They made some strange movements and then began to eat with relish.
A kind-hearted local man next to me handed me a piece of human flesh. I suppressed the urge to vomit and held the flesh in my hand, wanting to throw it away but afraid they would find out.
As the worship ceremony began, the Shu people chanted in the ancient Shu language, which I of course couldn't understand. I could only see the bronze human face in the middle emitting a faint golden light, making it even more mysterious.
The people of Shu around us knelt down in devout worship, and Xiang Fei quickly pulled me down to kneel as well. After the worship was over, we followed the people of Shu into the city. When we reached a street, a hand suddenly reached out and grabbed me.
Just as he was about to break free, the old blind man's voice rang out, "Don't make a sound, it's me."
He gestured for us to follow him. Once inside a room, the old blind man breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Why did you all come in?"
Xiang Fei and I were surprised for a while, not expecting to run into the old blind man so soon. As for how we got here, we just briefly explained.
"By the way, where's the black cat?" I asked.
"I don't know either. When we came in, we happened to run into those Shu people worshipping. As soon as we came out, they discovered us. If I hadn't run fast, we probably would have been eaten by them by now. At that time, Black Cat and I got separated. Now what do you plan to do? Try to find a way out, or continue exploring?"
"Let's find the black cat first," Xiang Fei said.
So the three of us disguised ourselves as Shu people and went out, following them to the outside of the palace, where we saw the Shu people going in one after another.
We knew they were going to donate blood again. When we went inside, we were shocked to find that the burned-down palace had been replaced by a mound of earth, clearly a tomb.
The soil on it was still fresh, and we saw the Shu people surrounding it and dripping their blood onto it.
The three of us looked at each other, and we all saw shock in each other's eyes. How was this grave made? Who is buried inside?
We quietly moved to the side and found a secluded corner to squat down.
“I feel this place is getting stranger and stranger. This ghost city is clearly a big tomb. These Shu people are nothing but walking corpses used to nourish their blood. What was the purpose of the people who built this place?” the old blind man said.
"Is it to become an immortal?"
"Could Gu Li be buried inside?" I asked. "Based on what happened last time, Gu Li should be the master of this place. He has gone mad in his desire to become an immortal, but unfortunately, we are no match for him now."
Xiang Fei nodded, "We can't let him continue like this. It seems very likely that he has obtained the true immortal technique, but he probably won't become an immortal. He might become a demon or monster instead. We need to think of a way to stop him."
We quietly walked to the back and came to the blood pool. We saw that the blood inside had dried, the coffin inside had been opened, and the ground was covered with white bones.
At this time, the Shu people who had donated blood started to go back. We found a place to hide and waited until the Shu people had all left before coming out. We groped our way to the side of the mound and immediately smelled a strong smell of blood. The mound was covered with blood, which looked eerie and terrifying.
"Should we dig it open?" the old blind man asked.
Xiang Fei and I were immediately startled. What a joke! Digging that up would be suicide.
"Hey, what's wrong? Are you scared?"
“If you’re not afraid, then you dig, and we’ll keep watch for you.”
