Chapter 629

We knew exactly what he was up to, but we couldn't be bothered to argue with him. We quickly opened the stone door, and what appeared before us was a gloomy scene, shrouded in malevolent energy, a desolate desert littered with skeletons and corpses, with blood flowing everywhere. There was also a river and a palace.

However, the river water was blood red, and vengeful spirits were struggling and demanding lives within it.

The palace was shrouded in malevolent energy, making it difficult to see clearly, but one could vaguely make out countless ghostly figures moving in and out.

"This must be the Yin Formation. There's only Yin energy here. We need to find the path to the ancient formation. It seems we have to risk going in," Uncle Liu from Hunan whispered.

The people from Guangdong were standing not far away, also discussing and glancing at us from time to time. It was clear that they wanted us to be the first to go and serve as cannon fodder.

“Yes, we have to go in, but this is no safe place. It has been there since ancient times, and evil spirits roam freely. Let’s just use the Yin-Yang formation to clear the way,” Xiang Fei said.

The final solution was that Uncle Liu from Hunan and I would lead the way, with Xiang Fei and the old blind man bringing up the rear, and the rest of us would walk in the middle.

I lit the Soul-Suppressing Lamp, and Uncle Liu from Hunan took out the Yin-Yang Plate and said, "The method of Yin and Yang, all ghosts and monsters in front, quickly make way!"

Yellow talismans were thrown out, and the flames of the soul-suppressing lamps flickered. The ghosts in front automatically made way, and the malevolent energy could be clearly seen receding.

We arrived at the palace without any trouble. The gate opened silently, revealing a pitch-black interior filled with a heavy aura of malevolence. A huge black shadow appeared, blocking the entrance. It was about three meters tall, and we couldn't see its exact shape, except for a pair of eyes that radiated a cold, sinister gaze.

The Soul-Suppressing Lamp and the Yin-Yang Plate are useless against it; this is a ghost with spiritual power, possibly already a Ghost King.

Above the entrance, a plaque boldly displayed the words "Hall of Yama," Xiang Fei read aloud. We were startled. "Could this be the underworld, the place where Yama, the King of Hell, resides?"

"It shouldn't be. This is just an ancient Taoist cultivator who set up a magic array to gather Yin energy, just like the underworld, based on the myths and legends."

It is obvious that the ghost in front of us is the ghost general guarding this place.

"Who are you? How dare you come to the King of Hell's palace! Leave now or I'll spare your lives. Otherwise, I will cast you into hell and never let you be reincarnated," a rough and cold voice rang out.

He gasped, "This really seems to be a ghost general. What do we do now?"

"What else can we do but get to work?" the old blind man said, quickly stepping back. "Ahem, only you two are good at dealing with this thing; neither Black Cat nor I are."

We're used to the old blind man's antics, so we're not bothered to argue with him.

Uncle Liu from Hunan said in a low voice, "Let's get started."

"All laws of Yin and Yang are at my disposal!" With a loud shout, Uncle Liu from Hunan slammed the Yin-Yang disc in his hand onto the disc.

Xiang Fei also went over to help. I placed the Soul-Suppressing Lamp on the ground and began to set up the Yin-Yang Magic Array.

The ghost general roared, "You are all truly courting death! Today you will become ghosts on the road to the Yellow Springs!"

After he finished speaking, he raised his hands, and immediately the Yin energy around him surged. The wronged souls inside kept manifesting, forming a dark mass. From the mud and sand on the ground, mutilated corpses crawled out, blood gushing out, which made the others tremble with fear.

The group of Cantonese people behind them, seeing the situation was not good, quickly retreated, all of them in shock, and then began to gloat.

The vengeful spirits kept rushing towards me, but they were all blocked. The soul-suppressing lamp flickered on and off, casting an eerie light. In a daze, I seemed to see the bronze human face on it smiling at me.

Uncle Liu from Hunan and Xiang Fei were incredibly fierce, forcing the ghost general to retreat repeatedly.

He bit his finger and wrote down the Heavenly Master Talisman, which he then struck the ghost general, causing the ghost general's body to twist in agony.

Taking this opportunity, Uncle Liu from Hunan caused ancient characters to flash on the Yin-Yang Plate, and the mysterious pattern began to rotate, directly suppressing the ghost general.

One hundred and four traitors?

With a scream, the ghost vanished into thin air, and the scene returned to calm. We quickly ran inside, followed by the group of people from Guangdong.

The Yama King's Palace didn't look very big from the outside, but once we went inside, we found that the place was incredibly large. It was shrouded in mist everywhere, and pairs of ghostly eyes would occasionally flash through the darkness, coldly watching us.

We turned on our headlamps and looked around, only to find that we were in the main hall, surrounded by statues, all of them of ghosts and monsters, some of which were worshipped by the ancient Shu people.

Directly above, we see a person wearing a jade crown, just like the one worn by the Jade Emperor, with a ferocious face, sitting in a chair. Although it is a statue, it looks just like a living person.

"Could this be the legendary King Yama?"

Next to it is a statue of a scholar, holding a pen and a book.

Needless to say, we had a pretty good idea: "Is this the Judge's Pen of Life and Death, or the Book of Life and Death?"

There were several doors behind the main hall, and we didn't know where they led. We observed them carefully, and suddenly I noticed that the judge next to Yama was giving me a strange smile, which made me break out in a cold sweat.

"Hey, that's not right," the old blind man suddenly said. "According to mythology, there's a City God under Yama, but why haven't I seen him?"

"That's not quite right. The City God is one of the two most powerful officials in the underworld. According to mythology, he should have his own palace. People often talk about City God Temples," said Liu Shu's disciple from Hunan.
