"This...could it be the path to immortality?" the old blind man stammered.
We were all incredibly shocked. It was just like something out of a myth; it was simply unbelievable. "Could it be that we have a great opportunity, and that we've come here just in time to witness the opening of the immortal path?"
"Hehe, I've struck it rich this time, maybe I can really become an immortal."
We walked over and confirmed that the path was real, leading all the way up into the sky. We looked at each other in bewilderment. "Should we go up?" I asked.
“Of course we should go up. We’ll know if it’s a celestial path once we go up,” said Uncle Liu from Hunan, and he took the lead.
We followed them; we had to venture into dangerous places.
Walking on the 'Fairy Path', I felt as if I were floating like an immortal, as if I were about to fly away, and the starlight around me was mesmerizing.
I don't know how long we walked, it felt like a long time, but also like a few seconds, before we reached the end of the 'Immortal Path'.
This is a land that seems to float in the starry sky. Although it is very small, only about the size of a basketball court, the center looks like an altar made of piled stones, or a starry sky magic circle.
We climbed up, and the dazzling starlight shone down, making it seem as if we had left Earth and entered the universe.
"It's unbelievable that Zhuge Liang possessed such extraordinary abilities. This place is clearly an ancient altar, a miracle, which he used to deduce the Great Dao. This altar is clearly the Big Dipper constellation. Ancient myths and legends say that the origin of mankind was actually the Big Dipper. However, our ancestors continued to explore the universe and eventually came to Earth. But later, for some reason, everything stopped and the Big Dipper seemed to fall silent all of a sudden."
"Well, in my opinion, the path to immortality that the ancient Shu people or Zhuge Liang wanted to open is actually a cosmic path leading to the Big Dipper, back to our ancestral land."
"The Classic of Mountains and Seas records that a Taoist priest gazed at the Big Dipper, not knowing when he would return home."
This is an ancient divine array, but it has been abandoned since. Zhuge Liang believed that it was a magic array used by the legendary immortals and gods to connect with the Big Dipper. However, the method to open this ancient array has been lost, so he wanted to use the power of the starry sky to open it, but he didn't know if he had succeeded.
“This is a Yang formation. The Yin formation should be in another mountain. Only when both formations are activated at the same time can we possibly open the path to immortality through the Big Dipper,” said Uncle Liu from Hunan. He then began to deduce the path by counting on his fingers. “Perhaps we will have the opportunity to open the path to immortality.”
"Tian, Ji, Shu, Wei... borrow the power of the Big Dipper to activate the magic array. This is a Yang array, drawing upon the righteous energy of heaven and earth." The old blind man also joined in.
Xiang Fei and I didn't stand idly by either; we joined in. Even if we could only glean a little of the secrets of such an ancient formation, it would be of immense benefit.
Of course, we're just trying our best. This is a magic array left behind by ancient immortals and gods. Even a Yin-Yang Master might not be able to open it. We'll just treat it as a learning exercise.
What we didn't expect was that, by sheer accident, the Yang Array was activated, and instantly, endless starlight appeared, with mysterious runes within the array flashing and weaving together mysterious patterns.
Startled, we quickly jumped down. This was only the activation of the Yang formation; without the Yin formation, the 'Immortal Path' would definitely not open.
"Let's go, let's hurry to another mountain to find the Yin Formation. If we find it and activate it, we might really be able to open the path to immortality," Uncle Liu from Hunan said impatiently.
We walked along the Starlight Stone Path, ran out of the palace, and arrived at another mountain. Sure enough, we saw a stone gate, though this one wasn't as grand.
Just as we were about to open the stone door, we saw that the group of people from Guangdong had also arrived. It was clear that this group was quite skilled as well. Qimen Dunjia had not been able to trap them. But that was not surprising, since we had already broken through most of the obstacles ahead, it was naturally much easier for them to get behind.
There were five people in the group. I didn't recognize any of them except for the leader. They all had unfriendly expressions, especially the one at the head, a man from Guangdong. He chuckled sinisterly and said, "I didn't expect to see you again so soon. Last time in the 'Burial Immortal Land,' you were all unharmed. What good fortune! How about we have a showdown this time?"
When we saw that this group of people were carrying guns, specifically AK47s, we immediately sensed something was wrong. Xiang Fei brought some explosives, while the group brought rifles.
The old blind man said in a low voice, "Xiang Fei, with your great abilities, why don't you get a couple of guns? Even a pistol would be fine."
We only brought a few Tang swords, and Uncle Liu from Hunan brought hunting rifles, but how can they compare to AK47s? If they get angry, these people will just sweep the area. No matter how good your kung fu is, you can't stop these semi-automatic rifles.
"So, are we going to cooperate now, or become rivals?" The Cantonese man looked at us smugly.
After a moment of silence, Xiang Fei spoke up: "Cooperating with you is like asking a tiger for its skin. I think it's better if we each go our own way and see who has the better skills. Whoever discovers something first gets it. Otherwise, we'll both suffer heavy losses. Don't think you can suppress us just because you have two guns. No one can say for sure who will win until the very end."
The Cantonese man's expression changed, and he finally snorted coldly, "Then we'll see."
Then he called to the others and headed towards the mountain we had just come from. But when he saw that the tomb door had already been opened, his expression turned even uglier. "You guys got there first, consider yourselves lucky." He walked back and looked at the unopened stone door. "Heh heh, should you open this door, or should we?"
