It felt like we were welcoming their king, but the three of us stood aside, watching the huge cheers, our faces looking rather grim.

Grandpa took the lead, gesturing for Yanling and me to stand back while he stood in front, seemingly determined to fight the Tree King alone.

But for some reason, the tree king did not appear. Instead, it blocked our way with a huge vine, and the blood-stained thorns on it gave off a strong sense of oppression.

Looking at the vines, I felt as if there was a huge, evil aura emanating from them, which made me a little worried about Grandpa.

Although Grandpa seemed very strong, judging from his expression, this thing was not easy to deal with. Moreover, although Grandpa sealed the ghost hand on my body when I was unconscious, he acted nonchalantly when asked about it afterward.

But I know very well that things aren't as simple as Grandpa said. Grandpa must have been injured as well, and now that he's facing the Tree King whose strength is unknown, I'm worried that he might be willing but unable to do so.

But there was nothing I could do to help at that moment. All I could do was remind him, "Grandpa, be careful!" Grandpa didn't even turn his head. He just nodded slightly, his eyes never leaving the huge thorny vines.

Shui Yanling's eyes flickered as she stood to the side, seemingly lost in thought. I shielded Yanling behind me, afraid that she might be in danger.

However, the enormous vine did not move; it simply blocked our way. The man-eating trees surrounding it, upon seeing the vine, seemed to perk up.

The pale, lifeless faces on the trees stared at us fiercely, their sharp teeth constantly grinding together, and blood-like liquid continuously flowing from their mouths, as if they wanted to devour us alive.

Suddenly, all the green vines around us surrounded us again, completely blocking the path behind us. The vines that had grown thorns after being stained with the red sap, after their fire was extinguished, also began to twist and turn behind the huge vines.

At that moment, we felt as if we were in a snake pit. The vines were like venomous snakes, staring at us with cold eyes. I felt extremely uncomfortable under this pressure.

Grandpa was also silent at this moment, not saying a word, nor making any move to alert the enemy. He simply couldn't understand why the Tree King had suddenly made a move.

He has been here for so long. Ever since Fang Shuang's father brought these trees here, although he knew of the existence of the Tree King, he has never disturbed it, let alone seen it make a move.

Suddenly, the giant vine moved. The poisonous thorns that were originally growing on the vine suddenly lengthened, and the needle-like thorns looked even more unsettling.

"Watch out, it's coming!" Grandpa warned us as he formed a strange hand seal.

Hearing Grandpa's words, our hearts tightened. I unconsciously tightened my grip on Yanling's hand, and then carefully guarded against the green vines behind us.

After a series of tumbling movements, the enormous vine stood upright in the air, its side covered in poisonous thorns facing us directly.

Then you see that the poisonous barbs seem to be trying to break free from the green vines, slowly extending outwards, and you can feel that the barbs are taut, as if they are arrows on a bowstring.

I had a bad feeling about this, and sure enough, the next moment I saw the poisonous stinger suddenly shoot straight at us like an arrow.

In an instant, we saw that all we could see were those black, poisonous stings, swarming in like a barrage of arrows.

I glanced back without thinking and discovered that the green vines had also instantly intertwined and coiled behind us, forming an encirclement, seemingly not intending to let us escape.

Looking at the dense barrage of arrows before me, I steeled my resolve and stood directly in front of Yanling, as if I were prepared to be pierced by a thousand arrows.

Seeing me like this warmed Shui Yanling's heart, but as she looked at the overwhelming swarm of arrows, her gaze unconsciously turned colder.

At this moment, Grandpa's hand seals seemed to be complete. Grandpa shouted, "Taoist magic. Black coffin!" With Grandpa's command, the entire space seemed to distort. Suddenly, four black barrier-like objects rose up from all around us, directly enveloping us.

The black barrier, resembling a coffin, stretched directly into the sky, forming a huge, enclosed space, making us feel as if we were inside one.

In an instant, I felt as if I had entered a sealed space. It was completely dark all around, and I couldn't see anything around me. Fortunately, I was still holding Yanling's hand, which calmed me down a little.

"Don't move around. This is my magic. Don't worry!" Hearing my grandfather's voice calmed me down a lot. I just waited quietly, without saying a word or moving around.

Shui Yanling kept her eyes open, observing her surroundings. She could sense the enormous energy emanating from the coffin-like partition, but she remained vigilant and alert.

Chapter Fifty-Nine: Painless and Itchy

A loud "bang" came from outside, followed by a dense series of sounds, like countless arrows hitting a shield.

But the coffin-like barrier remained completely still, as if this attack was utterly insignificant.

Seeing this, a look of joy appeared on my face. It seemed that there was no danger for the time being. I wondered what kind of magic this was that was so powerful.
