Gouchen died.

Although the Great Witch's body wasn't truly immortal, it was still abnormally powerful. Even with over a dozen Golden Immortals attacking him, they could only injure him, not kill him. Gou Chen once again used the Heaven and Earth Manifestation Technique.

Gou Chen said, "Bai Qi, although you have powerful magic, you do not know how to cultivate the Great Dao, you do not know the will of Heaven, and you do not understand the timing of Heaven. In the end, you will inevitably follow in the footsteps of your Wu clan."

Bai Qi said arrogantly, "I only know my 'slaughter' path, I don't know what the Heavenly Dao is! My Wu Clan was defeated and perished, and didn't your Demon Clan also withdraw from the position of protagonist of Heaven and Earth? If I could train 500,000 immortal Wu soldiers, what would I have to fear from your Heavenly Realm's immortals and gods? When I seize the Human Emperor's fortune, I can naturally dominate the earth and compete for the position of protagonist again."

The Arctic War God said, "Why say so much! Let's fight to the death. Bai Qi, we are enemies. It is understandable that you killed my brother, but it is also right for us to take revenge. So let's leave it to fate and rely on our own abilities."

A hint of admiration flashed in Bai Qi's eyes as he said to Gouchen, "Emperor Gouchen, you are a hero, and your subordinates are quite capable. But..." Bai Qi paused, then continued, "You must all die here today, otherwise my king's grand ambitions will be difficult to achieve. Don't blame me for being ruthless!"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than Bai Qi appeared beside the Arctic War God. The Arctic War God, known as a general under Gouchen, was no pushover. Seeing Bai Qi's swift and domineering slash coming at him, he didn't hesitate, relying solely on instinct to dodge the pursuing blade. Bai Qi ignored the Arctic War God's evasion, and before the slash subsided, he changed his attack into a horizontal slash, the blade meeting Gouchen's sudden attack from the side. Gouchen revealed his true form as a Bifang, resembling a red-crowned crane, but with only one leg (some say only one wing), a blue body with red spots, and a white beak.

Bifang's demonic body, honed over millions of years, was nearly indistinguishable from that of a Great Witch. It managed to block the attack with its claws, but was forced back several meters. Its strength was indeed far inferior to Bai Qi's. Just as Gou Chen regained his footing, a muffled groan came from behind. The war god among men, who had intended to attack Bai Qi from behind, had been injured by Bai Qi's swift defensive strike. Gou Chen was horrified; Bai Qi's speed was even faster than before. He didn't know that Bai Qi's application of power had truly reached a level of perfection, a pinnacle of mastery. Otherwise, with his reckless use of magic, even a quasi-saint would likely be unable to withstand it.

While the level of one's Taoist cultivation and magical power is fundamental, the application of magical techniques is also an indispensable means of combat. The saying "one force can overcome ten techniques" only applies when the power disparity between the two sides is too great. In reality, many times, the contest comes down to the level of one's Taoist arts, the application of techniques, and the quality of one's magical weapons. Take the battle between Gouchen and Bai Qi, for example; Gouchen's halberd was clearly no match for Bai Qi's "God of Slaughter Blade." If it were Xuanyuan's Xuanyuan Sword, it would have already cleaved Bai Qi in two.

Therefore, although Bai Qi's individual strength was far inferior to the combined magical power of Gou Chen and his dozen or so men, he still managed to kill or wound them. Bai Qi, wielding his sharp blade, didn't care about the strength of his opponents; he killed without hesitation. The war god among men had just been injured when Bai Qi's blade struck again, without pause. Seeing the blade's edge already touching his skin, the war god knew he couldn't dodge and, in a fit of rage, charged at Bai Qi. He was willing to self-destruct his primordial spirit to harm Bai Qi, just to give others a better chance to defeat him—a truly painstaking effort. Gou Chen and his men were already numb; they had previously vowed to fight to the death, and all they could do was channel their grief and anger into power, unleashing it upon Bai Qi. Their goal was simple: even at their own expense, they wanted to create an opportunity for their subordinates to kill Bai Qi.

Bai Qi was furious. The self-destruction of a Taiyi Golden Immortal was no small matter; the power was enough to destroy the entire solar system. If he hadn't reacted quickly and escaped, and if his body hadn't been so resilient, he would likely have been destroyed. Bai Qi was blasted and his skin was torn open. Gou Chen and the others, naturally, seized the opportunity to finish him off, relentlessly attacking him as he fell into a daze. In a short time, Bai Qi suffered several heavy blows. Bai Qi roared, enduring the slashes and injuries, trying to exchange blows for blows. However, each of his strikes nearly killed his opponent, while Gou Chen and the others' attacks only wounded him. As if possessed, Bai Qi's speed increased even further, and in the blink of an eye, the group was engaged in battle again, attempting to trade lives for lives.

For the celestial beings of Heaven, Gouchen's descent to the mortal realm was merely a short period of time, but in the mortal world, it had been almost half a year. Gouchen and his companions had fought several battles with Bai Qi, and few were left alive except for the Northern War God Shang and Gouchen himself. Why didn't Heaven send any powerful figures to help? The reason was that many of Heaven's experts either disobeyed orders, had duties to guard the safety of the Three Realms, or were simply plotting to kill him.

Bai Qi had fought Gou Chen and the others for so long, and had figured out their abilities, but with only these two left, he couldn't finish them off quickly. After all, he was so injured; even if he were immortal, he would need to heal! At this moment, the Arctic War God couldn't hold on any longer, and his attack became somewhat weak. Bai Qi seized this opportunity and cleaved him in two with a single stroke. Gou Chen, seemingly reckless, took advantage of Bai Qi's momentary lapse in attention and smashed his halberd into his head. Bai Qi was stunned by the blow, but his long experience kicked in, and his right hand instinctively swung back with a diagonal slash, instantly killing Gou Chen. Compared to his subordinate generals, Gou Chen's death was rather uneventful, lacking any dramatic display; he was simply killed by Bai Qi's backhand slash. Perhaps even he himself couldn't have imagined dying so unexpectedly!

After Gouchen was killed, his body was restored from its original appearance to human form, and his imperial robes and python robes showed his extraordinary status.
