Laozi was shocked. This Heavenly Thunder was far superior to the Heaven-Opening Thunder used by the Three Pure Ones. When Pangu opened the world, besides wielding his axe, he also relied on this Heavenly Thunder to split the chaos. Although Xuantian's cultivation was not as high as Pangu's and his divine thunder was not as powerful as Pangu's, it was still much more powerful than the three of them.
Xuan Tian threw out several divine lightning bolts, blasting open a golden bridge. Without pausing, he jumped over the golden bridge. Although the Heavenly Divine Lightning was powerful, it also consumed a lot of magical power. If he were not a saint, he probably wouldn't have been able to hold on for long.
The Taiji diagram flew back to Laozi's hand, but Laozi's face was somewhat pale. Although Xuan Tian's Heavenly Thunder had failed to damage the Taiji diagram, Laozi had to bear the force of the backlash. This was the power to create chaos, and even Laozi, a saint, would not be able to withstand it.
With his fists never leaving his hands, Xuan Tian rushed forward before Lao Zi could recover his composure. He attacked Lao Zi with a left-hand strike while simultaneously throwing a punch at Lao Zi's face with his right hand.
Laozi hurriedly used the Taiji Diagram to block the Measuring Ruler. Seeing Xuantian's fist coming at him, he dared not meet it head-on. The image of Xuantian killing Dijun with his fist back then was deeply engraved in the hearts of several saints. It has to be said that the image Xuantian left at that time was that of a brutal and ruthless demon. It left an indelible shadow on the young minds of the Three Pure Ones and others who had not yet become saints. His appearance was too ferocious and would often appear in their dreams, transforming into a demon (a strange uncle?), making them tremble with fear.
Now, facing Xuan Tian's fist again, Lao Tzu was so frightened that he retreated a hundred miles, not even retracting the Tai Chi diagram, staring at Xuan Tian's fist with a look of fear, as if that fist were a nuclear weapon or a biological virus.
Xuan Tian was stunned for a moment, then withdrew his fist, touched it with his left hand, and raised his hand to examine it carefully before asking, "Fellow Daoist, is there anything scary about my fist?" This question made Laozi blush. Damn it, the other party hadn't even hit him yet, and he had already retreated nearly a hundred miles. It was too embarrassing and a loss of face.
The surrounding sages were also stunned. They all knew the power of Xuan Tian's fist. While they mocked Lao Tzu, they also felt some sympathy for him. After all, if they were in this situation, their reaction would probably not be much better than Lao Tzu's. Xuan Tian's fist was too terrifying.
However, Laozi was a master of pretense, so he quickly adjusted himself and said with a serious face, "Fellow Daoist, I don't have anything in my possession. It's just that I suddenly feel that you and I are both transformed from Pangu and are fellow disciples. It would be unwise for us to fight over such a trivial matter, as it would damage our friendship. How about we call it quits today?" After saying that, he even cupped his hands in a respectful gesture.
Xuan Tian stared at Laozi's face for a long time, wanting to see just how thick Laozi's skin was. The fierce look he had during the fight had vanished in the blink of an eye, and he had turned around and acted like a proper fellow disciple. Damn, he was right and wrong, his skin was really thick.
The other sages were also astonished by Lao Tzu's behavior. They had seen shameless people before, but they had never seen anyone so shameless. Zhunti, with a serious expression, said to Jieyin, "Senior Brother, I think I've found the root cause of why our Western Sect can't flourish." Jieyin asked, confused, "What is it?" Zhunti replied solemnly, "It's because we're not shameless enough." Jieyin looked at him as if he didn't recognize him, his face even more distressed, and sighed, "Oh my god, I've been pooping on my tofu." Laozi couldn't stand Xuantian's gaze any longer and just wanted to leave this place as soon as possible, return to the Eight Views Palace, and go into seclusion for a hundred years—no, a thousand years, ten thousand years would be fine too. He quickly smiled and said, "Senior Brother, there's no need to doubt me. Today, I've received your guidance and gained many insights. I should have discussed the Dao with you again, but I've had some enlightenment and am eager to return to the Daoist temple to meditate and remember what I've learned. So, I'll take my leave now." Laozi was so anxious that he even called him "Senior Brother." Back when the Dao Ancestor accepted disciples, Xuantian and Laozi were of the same generation, so they had always addressed each other as Daoist friends. Today, Laozi was so eager to go back that he even called him "Senior Brother." After saying this, Laozi ignored Xuan Tian's thoughts and hurriedly summoned back the Xuanhuang Pagoda and the Taiji Diagram, flying straight towards the Bajing Palace.
Xuan Tian paused for a moment, then suddenly said, "Since you have gained some insights, why don't you have a more in-depth discussion with me?" Lao Zi's flying figure trembled violently. Without turning his head, he pretended not to hear and sped up even more.
Only Xuan Tian remained, laughing heartily behind them.
Eighty-one Five Emperors' Reign
Last time, we talked about how Laozi was terrified by Xuan Tian's fist and lost face. In order to cover it up, he didn't even care about the orthodoxy of the Human Sect and went straight to the Eight Views Palace.
It's not entirely unfortunate that no one else intervened in this battle. Laozi and Xuantian were both transformed from Pangu, and it was difficult for the other two of the Three Pure Ones to help either side in their fight, as that would damage their kinship. Nuwa would not help Laozi, and her alliance with Xuantian was unknown to the other saints, so she wouldn't intervene now. The two from the West would also not help either side. Although they had some relationship with Xuantian, they hoped that Xuantian and Laozi would be severely injured so that they could take advantage of the situation.
The matter of Xuan Tian stealing the orthodoxy of the Human Sect was left unresolved. Of course, things couldn't be resolved just like that, but it was best to delay for now. Once this was over, if I wanted to cause trouble again, Xuan Tian wouldn't admit it.
Xuan Tian had his reasons for doing this. The constant changes of dynasties in later generations, while reflecting societal progress, also exacerbated the suffering of the human people. He did this because he didn't want humanity to be constantly manipulated by a few sages; of course, the road ahead was still long.
The struggle between Laozi and Xuantian came to an end, and Zhuanxu's succession to the throne proceeded smoothly.
Humans are highly sought after these days, and everyone wants to take them. For example, the position of Imperial Tutor to Emperor Zhuanxu was obtained through a fierce struggle.
