Chapter 149 An Unexpected Event
Tanjiro only realized what was happening after Yoriichi Tsugikuni's warning, and his body began to collapse.
"Cough cough cough cough—".
Tanjiro was being supported by Yoriichi Tsugikuni, blood continuously flowing from his mouth, causing him excruciating pain in his internal organs. Yuichiro, seeing this, felt relieved and clutched his own bleeding chest wound.
"How could this be? Who are you?!"
Looking at Yoriichi Tsugikuni, Daki felt her whole body trembling, fear spreading through every cell of her body, making her scream uncontrollably.
In that moment of distraction, Ichiro gritted his teeth and rushed forward. He abandoned the shaky blade in his hand and used the Hollow Crying God to slit open her neck.
"Aa ...
A piercing scream echoed. The Void Crying God did not have the ability to kill the ghost, but it could absorb the ghost's life force and restrain its regeneration.
Daki, clutching her head, was overwhelmed with fear and the terror of having her severed, and she broke down in tears. Ichiro covered his ears; the piercing sound made Tanjiro cough up blood again.
The pink ribbons fluttered with her voice. Yoriichi Tsugikuni hoisted Tanjiro on his shoulder and took a few steps back. When he reached for his waist, he realized that he had forgotten to ask Tengen Uzui's rat to bring him the sword when he arrived.
He nimbly dodged, then kicked Daki away, silencing her cries, and the house was smashed to pieces.
Amidst the ruins, a young girl staggered to her feet. Her anger made her body even stronger, and she rushed forward, kicking and stomping through Daki's chest.
"Ouch! That hurts!"
The ribbon sliced through Nezuko's body in an instant. Daki straightened her head and looked down at Nezuko, who was trapped under the rubble.
"Damn bastards, they all deserve to die!"
Nezuko stood up, and her body grew instantly, with leaf patterns appearing all over her body. The pillar she was clinging to also fell away.
She attacked Daki quickly, and Daki's powerful regenerative ability made it impossible for Daki to accurately predict her moves.
"Brother Yuan, this one, he should still be able to swing it a bit more."
Yuichiro approached Yoriichi Tsugikuni with the tattered sword and handed it to him. Yoriichi nodded, put Tanjiro down, and leaped down.
He could see that something was wrong with Daki's body; there was a sense of overlap, as if they were fused together, making it difficult for him to make a judgment.
"brush--."
"Crack—".
As Yorimitsu's blade fell, Nezuko, who was stepping on Daki, only felt a terrible danger brush past her as the fiery blade severed Daki's head in two.
"Aaaaaaahhhhhhh—it hurts so much, it's so painful!"
When Uzui Tengen arrived, he saw Daki, who was being burned, clutching her head and crying incessantly. He could see the scorched cut surface burning flesh and blood and then burning it back up.
"What an amazing move."
Uzui Tengen looked at the seemingly fragile blade in Tsugikuni Yoriichi's hand. He hadn't expected that the other party would use such a broken piece of junk to cut off the demon's head.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni looked at the still noisy Daki and instinctively felt that something was wrong. As he was thinking, the noise next to him caught his attention.
He saw Tanjiro and Nezuko suppressing Nezuko, and their bloodthirsty appearance made him feel dazed.
"Ghosts can go out of control, and rampaging ghosts are very difficult to control."
He suddenly remembered Tamayo's words, jumped down and grabbed Nezuko's hand to break it off, preventing the other from injuring them both.
"Try to calm her down."
The noisy scene over there didn't attract Uzui Tengen's attention; he focused his gaze on Daki, looking at her with a sense of wonder.
"How come you're still alive? Your neck is still burning."
"It hurts, ahhhhh, damn it, shut up, brother! It hurts so much."
Daki screamed, her cells trembling with pain and fear, memories of Muzan Kibutsuji. Tengen Uzui watched as a figure emerged from behind Daki.
"Whoosh—".
Uzui Tengen swung his sword instantly, but his opponent reacted even faster. As he dodged, Uzui Tengen felt a gash on his body.
"Honestly, how did such a pretty face get ruined like this? If something happens, why don't you let your brother come out? Look at your neck, it can't be repaired."
Gyutaro helped Daki put her head back on, but even so he noticed that there was still a line on her neck and her face turned ugly.
"So fast!"
"Mr. Yu Sui!"
——
When Yan Sheng woke up, he felt very thirsty. He felt a little dazed as he sensed the air coming from outside.
"I'm so hungry."
Yan Sheng tensed up abruptly, digging his nails deep into his skin; the pain jolted him awake.
"Oh, are you alright? How did you get scratched?"
The noise outside was followed by the sound of footsteps leaving, but the lingering smell of blood still stung Yan Sheng.
"call--."
Iwakatsuhei lay there for a long time before getting up and opening the window. The full moon hanging high in the night sky made him feel relaxed.
Go find Mei and Gyutaro.
Iwakatsu remembered Muzan Kibutsuji's instructions and also wanted to see the two children one last time, as he might not see them again for a while.
As Yan Sheng thought about it, he snapped his fingers, and a wooden door appeared in front of him. As soon as he stepped out, the sunlight, shimmering with water, brushed past his neck, and the burning sensation accompanied the flow of blood.
What's this?
Iwakatsu raised his hand to his neck; even though it had recovered quickly, a burning pain still lingered. He watched as Yoriichi Tsugikuni shattered the knife as he sliced open Gyutaro's chest.
Yan Sheng looked around in a panic; the scene was one of utter chaos, and the smell of blood filled his nostrils. The energy expended in the process of rebuilding was causing his previously restrained desires to crumble.
Tanjiro noticed a black hair with red ends that had fallen from his clothes, and turned to see Okichi clutching his neck. He immediately panicked; he hadn't expected to accidentally injure someone.
"Mr. Iwakatsu! Are you alright?"
"elder brother!"
Yuichiro Tokito, panting, looked at the severed head of Daki. Upon hearing Tanjiro's voice, he immediately turned around and saw Iwakatsu standing not far away.
He rushed over, though he didn't understand why the other person had suddenly appeared.
"Brother!"
Yoriichi Tsugikuni tossed aside the broken sword and quickly went to Iwakatsu's side. He reached out to touch the back of Iwakatsu's hand and saw bloodstains sliding across his fair skin.
"Brother, are you alright? You're bleeding."
Tokito Ichiro ran over, his wounds aching from the movement. He grabbed Iwakatsu's sleeve, took a deep breath, and looked up at Iwakatsu.
Yan Sheng's expression was somewhat blank. The approaching stench of blood surrounded him. He couldn't hear any sound. The silence around him was frightening. His vision was also blurred, and he couldn't see the faces of others.
"I feel so uncomfortable, so tired, and so thirsty."
Iwakatsu slowly released his hand from his neck and turned his gaze to Ichiro, the words "Upper Moon One" in his golden eyes particularly glaring.
Something's not right.
Tanjiro stopped two meters away. He sensed danger and frowned, about to say something, when he saw Iwakatsu move.
The long, black fingernails stabbed at Ichiro with incredible speed. Tanjiro's eyes widened, and though he opened his mouth, no sound came out.
Yuichiro looked up, and drops of blood fell to the ground. Everyone who was looking in his direction fell silent.
"Brother?!"
