Chapter 23 A Show of Force
Facing Muzan's scrutinizing gaze, Iwakatsu kept his head down, his expression completely unchanged. His high ponytail slipped down his right shoulder, strands of hair falling down to reveal his vulnerable neck in front of Muzan.
Iwakatsu had anticipated that his sudden search for Muzan Kibutsuji and subsequent return to the Infinity Castle would surely arouse the suspicion of the scumbag boss that he was investigating.
But to Yan Sheng's surprise, even though he was running so fast and so far away in his third brother's town, he could still be sensed.
Oh no, oh no, oh no! How can I put it? Muzan Kibutsuji is like a dog, so quick-witted.
After struggling for a long time, Yan Sheng finally gave an ambiguous answer under the other party's cold gaze.
"Your subordinate is in that town."
"oh?"
Kibutsuji Muzan tapped rhythmically on the sandalwood armrest with his fingers, his gaze toward Iwakatsu growing ever sharper.
He thought highly of Iwakatsu, and as his only collaborator, he was willing to trust him. But more than that, he wanted to use Iwakatsu to restrain Yoriichi Tsugikuni and, incidentally, get revenge on him.
Muzan Kibutsuji was cautious because, due to the Infinity Castle, he always kept a sliver of his consciousness on Nakime. This led him to discover that his behavior as Upper Moon One was far too strange.
"The investigation revealed that Yoriichi Tsugikuni... has been spotted in that town to the west..."
Iwakatsu paused deliberately, and sure enough, he noticed that Kibutsuji Muzan's hand on the sandalwood armrest was inexplicably trembling, his hand gripping the edge tightly.
"Your subordinate has temporarily... returned to the Infinite City."
You little brat, I don't believe you dare to investigate.
Iwakatsu maintained a respectful demeanor, awaiting Muzan Kibutsuji's reaction. He knew all too well that Muzan was terrified of him and wanted absolutely nothing to do with anything related to Yoriichi Tsugikuni.
"Tsk, so that's how it is. You don't need to investigate Kokushibo anymore. It just so happens that Infinite Castle is quite lively lately."
Muzan Kibutsuji was extremely displeased. He was both angry and helpless about Yoriichi Tsugikuni's situation. He couldn't verify it. Although he still harbored some doubts about Kokushibo, he never imagined that Kokushibo would betray him because of the fact that he could investigate.
"There's no need to call me in the blood battle between crescent moons unless you're in the upper moon phase."
"yes…"
Iwakatsu also understood Kibutsuji Muzan's subtext: to control those tool demons who are always causing trouble.
After a while, sensing that the aura had completely disappeared, Iwakatsu looked up at the empty sandalwood chair and slowly stood up. He had really been startled just now; as expected, Yoriichi Tsugikuni's name was quite effective.
However, Iwakatsu still planned to find a way to dispel Muzan Kibutsuji's suspicions about him. This would make subsequent actions and missions much easier.
I don't have any ideas. I'd better finish the work that lousy boss gave me first. It'll be a good opportunity to meet those irritable subordinates and teach them a lesson.
Yan Sheng looked at the sunlight that was already starting to leak in from one side and contacted Nakime directly.
The transmission of consciousness between ghosts is a process where superiors can contact subordinates, but subordinates can only obey and cannot contact their superiors.
Very good, that's capitalist enough. If you don't have the ability, all you can do is work. How many leaders you have depends on whether you can do it.
Yan Sheng gave a small rebuke, but since his only superior was that scoundrel boss, he wasn't the one suffering.
"Narukae, teleport all the current Crescent Moons to the Infinite Castle."
We haven't gathered all the Ghost Scum Bosses yet, so it doesn't matter if we take out a few first, since he's not the one hiring anyway.
The sound of a pipa drifted over, and then a wooden door opened in front of Yan Sheng.
Yan Sheng walked in and heard the noisy sounds of fighting. Yan Sheng concealed his aura well and stood there looking at the few troublemakers below.
The one causing the conflict was a fat, stout ghost. He wasn't tall, but his clothes made him look extremely wealthy. His dark yellow, straight-cut robes couldn't hide his greasy, obese body. His pale skin was covered with blue veins, and his disdainful attitude and bossy tone made him look like a corrupt nobleman.
Iwakatsu noticed that the eyes, squeezed shut by obesity, belonged to Upper Moon Five, suggesting he was quite powerful. Iwakatsu glanced at the other side where the other man was leering at him.
The figure standing there was a voluptuous ghost in the form of a woman, dressed in an extremely revealing kimono, the overly long peach-colored hem embroidered with intricate flowers. The kimono's design was extremely daring, and with each movement, one could clearly see her bare, white legs and heavy wooden clogs.
Yan Sheng looked at the heavily made-up eyes, the lower moon 1 reflected in the magenta pupils. The other person seemed to be disgusted, covering their mouth and nose with their long sleeves, showing extreme aversion.
"You bastard, what color is that? You piece of trash %#@%."
Clearly sensing the other party's attitude, the obese male ghost, obviously furious, immediately started yelling and screaming. Half of his body turned into a thick liquid, which continued to pour towards the female ghost like waves.
"That's disgusting."
With a flick of his wrist, a bone whip piled high with colorful flowers broke open, blocking the foul-smelling, reddish-black liquid.
"Make it more intense, this is really boring."
The ghosts watching the show nearby, not wanting to miss out on the excitement, waved their six pale hands, cheering them on. The lower body was a grass-green python's tail, lazily coiled around a trembling ghost. The ghost looked like it was wearing a black kimono, covering its entire body, with its excessively long hair tied into a long braid at the back, and it was holding a tattered umbrella in its arms.
Upper Moon Three and Upper Moon Six?
The rest were either too afraid to step forward or just watching the spectacle. Only Akaza stood next to Nakime, looking utterly bored.
He has no interest in hitting women, and he's not ready to fight that disgusting fat man, especially since he's a despicable nobleman who looks down on people.
"Hey! You pink hedgehog, what kind of look is that? Believe me or not, I'll kill you."
Sensing Akaza's disdainful gaze, the male demon, already in a bad mood from not gaining any advantage, twisted his body and began to hurl insults at Nakime and Akaza.
"And that guy who doesn't even have a level, why did he teleport us here? Doesn't he know I'm busy? He's a complete waste, what does he think he is, calling himself %#@%?"
"..."
Nakime was speechless at this daredevil. If he could summon the strongest Upper Moon Three, what kind of simple demon could he be?
Nakime ignored the other party's jumping up and down, completely disregarding this demon she had already found annoying.
Seeing that he had lost face, he jumped up in a rage, his hands turning into liquid, and was about to attack Nakime, but in the next instant, he was suppressed to the ground by a force.
Yan Sheng looked at the small, oily-looking pile, then glanced at the attitudes of the surrounding demons. Well, it's a species that even demons collectively dislike.
Seeing the other party jumping up and down in a panic, about to attack Nakime, Iwakatsu was speechless. Daring to lay a hand on the demon that was such an important tool of the scoundrel boss, he had guts. So Iwakatsu simply stopped hiding his aura and deliberately made his footsteps heavier with his wooden clogs. The powerful aura made all the demons present shudder, and some of the lower moons even trembled.
"Tap, tap, tap."
Yan Sheng appeared before all the demons, looking down at them from above. His thin lips moved, and he uttered two extremely imposing words.
"Shut up."
