Chapter 27 Basic Skills

That afternoon, Xie Wanyun went out, and Quan Ge'er came to the backyard with his small wooden sword. He followed the sword moves he had memorized in his mind and began to practice them in an orderly manner.

After practicing for a while, he was so tired that he was out of breath. He simply sat down on the ground and took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat off his face.

A cold snort sounded.

Quan Ge'er jumped up suddenly. He was particularly sensitive to Xie Wanyun's voice.

Xie Wanyun had been here for a while, but hadn't shown up yet, just watching from the shadows. She had known that Quan Ge'er was impatient to practice basic skills and just wanted to become a swordsman as quickly as possible.

However, if a tall building is built on the ground without a solid foundation, it is like building a building on a pile of sand. No matter how beautiful it looks, it will collapse when a strong wind blows.

But Quan Ge'er doesn't understand this yet.

"Madam, please take a look at whether I am practicing correctly?" Quan Ge'er said flatteringly, picking up the wooden sword.

In order to look more imposing, he was shouting slogans with a chuckle, which made him look quite serious.

Quan Geer practiced all his best moves, and was so tired that he almost fell to the ground with his tongue hanging out. But why didn't the lady react at all?

Xie Wanyun ignored him and just raised her toes to tap his knee lightly, and Quan Ge'er fell to his knees with a plop.

"Your lower body is unstable and your steps are weak. If your opponent is beside you, he can knock you down with just a small branch. Why would you need a sword?" Xie Wanyun said coldly.

"Then I am tired!" Quan Ge'er was embarrassed and annoyed, and couldn't help but argue loudly.

"Do you think your opponent will wait until you have rested enough before fighting you fairly?" Xie Wanyun's dark eyes were frost-covered, and his voice was as cold and hard as ice.

In her previous life, she had fought on the battlefield. Killing the enemy to save herself, every single one of them was an emotionless killing machine. As long as they could win and survive, they would do anything.

Any bit of luck or negligence will result in death.

The cruelty and bloodiness involved are beyond the imagination of ordinary people.

"Stand in a square horse stance! For one hour." Xie Wanyun raised his hand and took his small wooden sword. He exerted force with his hands, and with a light "puff" sound, the wooden sword sank into the hard mud, leaving only the hilt, which was still trembling slightly.

"Wow..." Quan Ge'er was stunned! Even though he was a child with little experience, he knew that to stick a brittle and hard wooden sword into the mud, it required not only strength but also dexterity, otherwise the sword would have broken long ago.

What's more, the ground was extremely hard, and when Quan Ge'er was kicked down just now, his knees were bruised.

Madam is so majestic!

At this moment, Quan Ge'er's admiration for Xie Wanyun was like a torrent of water, endless and unending. Without saying a word, he rolled up his sleeves, took a few steps, walked to the center of the field, puffed out his belly, and started practicing with his eyes wide open.

He stood in horse stance with full confidence for a while, and his calves began to ache and tremble. He was about to slack off, but he secretly glanced at Xie Wanyun's face, then forced himself to stay strong and tried his best to hold on.

Xie Wanyun stood with his hands behind his back, his wide robe fluttering in the cold wind.

Her voice was cold, and every word she spoke pierced Quan Ge'er's ears.

"One hour today, double it tomorrow. The Four-square Horse Stance is the foundation. Once you can hold it for more than two hours, start practicing the Wide Horse Stance, Pushing with Both Palms, and Hitting the Ears with Both Peaks. You will pass until I can't kick you down.

Brother Quan stared with his eyes, looking straight ahead.

He gritted his teeth and asked, "When will the lady teach me sword techniques?"

Xie Wanyun's eyes turned cold, he gripped the handle of the wooden sword, exerted force with his fingertips, and the wooden sword actually rose up!

She threw the sword heavily to the ground, and the wooden sword broke into pieces.

Qing scolded, "Without a solid foundation, it's like the moon in the water or the flower in the mirror. No matter how beautiful your moves are, they are useless! If you fight someone in the future and say you practiced the Xie family swordsmanship, I can't afford to lose face."

Hearing this, Quan Ge'er's face was filled with shame. He gritted his teeth, trembling his calves, and continued to do horse stance.

"The Xie family swordsmanship emphasizes actual combat, not fancy moves. If you can't persist in practicing the basics, then there's no need to learn further. Otherwise, if you only learn the basics, you'll ruin the reputation of the Xie family swordsmanship."

Xie Wanyun lowered his head slightly, looking down at him with a cold gaze, and an air of arrogance.

Quan Ge'er was involuntarily attracted. He shouted, "Don't worry, Madam! I will practice hard and will never embarrass you!"

Xie Wanyun's cold eyes finally showed a hint of comfort, but his voice remained cold. "Remember what you said."
