Chapter 41 The Price of Realizing a Dream
That is an evil sacrifice of barbarians.
With the help of evil power, the wounds of the dead who were split in half were covered with mud.
There was no drop of blood, only half a face of despair.
Half looking at the campfire, half looking at the deep night.
Brown's sister covered his mouth tightly and the two of them lay in the mud together.
Their faces were covered with thick mud, leaving only two air holes and a tiny gap for observing the outside world.
They didn't even dare to shed tears, for fear of breaking through the mud on their faces and being discovered.
That was Brown's eternal nightmare.
He never thought that he would see such a scene one day.
It's been several years already.
I thought I had forgotten everything.
Brown trembled, held his head up, covered his ears and closed his eyes.
I didn't dare to look at the legs that were standing opposite each other and whether they were connected to limbs that had been chopped off in half.
His right hand was still clutching the black rope connected to the small incense beads, and he just hoped that the small incense beads could exert their power to drive away the horrible memories as soon as possible.
"Brown."
Suddenly a familiar voice sounded in my ears.
"It's okay, brother."
Brown's trembling stopped and he slowly raised his head.
"elder sister……"
The country girl, who didn't look cute, gave her brother a simple smile.
Looking at her brother's pale face, she was still comforting him in a soft voice.
"It's okay, brother. They're all gone."
“Chuckle, chuckle…”
Brown's teeth began to chatter, and his lips lost their color, turning as pale as a dead person.
"sister……"
The country girl showed some doubt, took another step forward, and stretched out her muddy hand to her brother.
"Brother, what are you afraid of?"
Brown sat down on the ground. He wanted to move back, but his limbs were so stiff that he couldn't move even half an inch.
How could he not be afraid?
His sister did not survive the disaster.
No, his sister did not die in that disaster.
She died at the hands of her own brother.
…
The brother and sister hiding in the mud could not escape the sharp sense of smell of the barbarians. However, before they were discovered, fortunately a team of wizard apprentices appeared and interrupted the impending killing.
They drove from afar.
When the barbarians saw this from afar, they became confused and left in a hurry, without even being able to take away all the food for the sacrifice.
Fortunately, these guys failed to escape sanctions.
A wizard apprentice suddenly flew up and chased after him.
After the thunder and lightning, Brown saw the barbarians who had been so arrogant, grinning ferociously and unable to resist just now turned into piles of black charcoal.
Brown's eyes were wide open, and even though the mud and water flowed into his eyes and it hurt terribly, he was reluctant to close them.
He endured the pain and watched the apprentice fly back to the carriage, then slowly walked to him and his sister.
Brown and his sister climbed out of the mud and knelt before the wizard to thank him for saving their lives.
But while Brown was grateful, a new and irrepressible thought arose in his heart.
The turning point of destiny has arrived.
If he could follow the person in front of him, would he have the possibility of becoming a wizard? Brown seemed to see himself flying in the sky, and it was he who easily killed his enemy.
Becoming a wizard, this is the life he deserves!
However, Brown's dream did not last long and was cruelly shattered.
At the sister's pleading, the wizard agreed to take them back.
But he only agreed to take one person with him.
Another person will be thrown here.
The reason was that their carriage could only accommodate one more person.
Brown couldn't understand.
They clearly had two carriages, one with a dozen children in it, and the other, more spacious, with only two wizards in it.
The only carriage that could squeeze one person in was the one that was already filled with a dozen children.
No one else is allowed to ride in the wizard's car.
That's blasphemy.
The wizard who once released lightning turned his head and asked his companion, "Take this boy, he looks quite capable."
But the other pale wizard pointed firmly at Brown's sister, "No, I want a maid."
The Lightning Wizard was helpless, "There is so little a maid can do."
The pale wizard was more determined, "What do you know? Maids represent justice."
The Lightning Wizard shook his head but did not refute, and actually agreed with the Pale Wizard's decision.
Brown's face immediately turned paler than the pale wizard's.
Was he going to be left behind? Brown looked at his sister helplessly.
Sister, please tell me! Let them take me away and leave you behind!
Come on, you love me so much, don't you always give me the good things? Come on, let them take me away, and when I become a wizard, I will come to take you to live a good life!
But the girl, who always took care of her younger brother, just lowered her head and kept rubbing the corners of her clothes with her hands.
My sister is actually shaken! ?
Brown couldn't believe it.
He squatted down silently, as if he was in despair.
The girl saw her brother crouching in despair from the corner of her eye, and finally made up her mind.
She opened her mouth tremblingly, her voice filled with deep attachment.
"My lord, please take my brother away..."
"Bang!"
The girl didn't finish her words.
A rock hit her hard on the back of the head, knocking her to the ground.
Brown looked at his sister in surprise.
The girl fell to the ground, put her hand over the bleeding wound, and looked back at her brother in disbelief.
The surprise in the girl's eyes was turning into anger.
My sister is angry.
Brown only felt that his mind was extremely clear at this moment. He had never been so clear before.
My sister is angry, so she won't give me this opportunity.
He walked forward expressionlessly.
How much strength could a poor boy have? Brown raised his waist, panting, looking ahead with hopeful eyes, and quietly watched the wizard complete the whole process.
"My Lord, I am the only one left now."
The pale wizard covered his nostrils with his fingers, as if Brown were emitting some sour odor.
"Haha, I came out to recruit apprentices, but I didn't expect to see a beast."
The Thunder Wizard did not make any comment.
The two of them turned around and walked back to the carriage, but they did not stop Brown from getting into the carriage with the children in it.
…
Memories came flooding back one after another. His sister, who had been shattered by him, appeared in front of him again with an intact face.
“This is an illusion,” Brown told himself. “My sister can’t be alive. There’s no way her ghost would come to me after all these years.”
He felt that he was no longer the little boy who could only curl up in his sister's arms.
Just a hallucination, and you want to scare him to death? Brown raised his head, looked directly into his sister's face, and waved his fist.
"I'm not afraid of you, what else can you do?"
But my sister smiled.
Yes, how could the lips be damaged? Looking at the red lips, Brown punched again.
A hand caught Brown's fist firmly.
Brown looked up and saw Sid standing in front of him, staring at him coldly.
Sure enough, it was all an illusion! It must be an illusion that Sir Sid was testing me, so the small scented beads Sir Sid gave me were ineffective.
"My Lord!" Brown grinned. "Have I passed your test?"
