Chapter 33: Don’t treat Han Wenya as an enemy
"Hello everyone, I'm Xia Cheng, a sophomore at Hai City University, and I'll be a junior starting the semester. I'm here for a two-month internship during the summer vacation, and I hope to get along well with everyone. Sister Wen Ya, I'll be your little follower from now on, so please take good care of me."
After Xia Cheng finished speaking, sparse applause and cheers of welcome rang out in the office.
Han Wenya sat down with an unhappy look on her face, and when Xia Cheng moved her workstation next to her, she simply said "welcome".
Xia Cheng didn't know whether she welcomed it or not, but she could see that Han Wenya had a bad temper.
A veteran with so many years of experience working in a large corporation, she should have handled both business and personal matters with proper propriety, yet she was now unabashedly emotional. Perhaps she didn't understand her place; she was capable, but too arrogant. That humility was reserved for specialized individuals.
Xia Cheng's guess was actually correct. Han Wenya regarded her as a subconscious competitor. Because she couldn't figure out the background of someone so young who could come to Landu for an internship, nor was she clear about her purpose, her beauty and youth became her original sin.
Han Wenya had been with Xun Sheng for so many years without any progress. Xun Sheng clearly only treated her as a subordinate, but how could she just sit there and watch her efforts go unreciprocated? She thought, if she could hold on for a few more years, maybe she could impress Xun Sheng? After all, what she wanted wasn't just Xun Sheng himself, but also his resources.
However, now there is another secretary, and she is not sure whether this girl has the same evil intentions as herself.
"Sister Wenya, what should I do now? Can you tell me about the job?"
Han Wenya came back to her senses, turned her head to look at the smiling girl, and forced a smile.
"No hurry, just check this table first. Add these and this data together and see if they're correct."
"Ah... these are all done in Excel, so they shouldn't need to be checked."
Hearing Xia Cheng say this, Han Wenya didn't even turn her head and continued to look at the computer screen.
"If you don't want to do it, you can go be someone else's assistant."
Xia Cheng raised an eyebrow, took the folder that Han Wenya had placed on the partition, and held it close to her.
Just as she opened a page, she heard some noise beside her. After a rustling sound, Han Wenya walked towards the closed office with a stack of documents in her arms. She knocked on the door, and after a dull "come in", she walked in swaying her waist.
The door closed again, and Xia Cheng stared in a trance.
She entered the company for an internship with a purpose, but she didn't expect that there was someone with the same purpose as her. People with similar magnetic fields can always easily discover each other's purpose, but she did not regard Han Wenya as her enemy.
Xun Sheng just flirted with her. Compared with Yu Jingyuan and Lin Minghe, Xun Mo didn't seem to care much about this brother, probably because Xun Sheng himself was not someone who was easy to get close to.
Speaking of Xun Sheng and Xun Mo, Xia Cheng suddenly remembered that she had never known whether they were siblings.
She was checking with her phone's calculator while looking at the documents until a man named Xu Yi came over and patted her on the shoulder.
Xu Yi had curly hair and was tall and strong. While everyone else was wearing suits, he was the only one wearing a loose white short-sleeved shirt.
He pulled Han Wenya's work chair over and sat down on it.
Xia Cheng saw that he must have just finished washing up, and his hair was still damp. Turning around, she saw that the Simmons mattress had indeed been put away.
"Hello." She held out her hand.
Xu Yihui held it tightly, then quickly let go and patted his chest.
"Hello, my name is Xu Yi. I mainly want to ask if you would like to be my assistant. As you saw today, I do have a lot of work to do, and Wen Ya is used to working alone, so it's not busy."
"If we make such an arrangement, do we need the consent of Mr. Xun?" When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Xia Cheng followed Wei Paijin and addressed Xun Sheng as Mr. Xun.
"You're here for an internship, so there shouldn't be so many rules. As long as you agree, I'll ask right away. I can't stand working overtime every day. If there's one more person, it'll be much easier."
"What do you do for a living?"
"Ah, me..." Xu Yi then realized that he was in a hurry to share the pressure and didn't explain himself clearly.
He raised a finger and pointed at the office.
"I'm also a secretary, but a full-time one. I have to work overtime with my boss. Every day I have to arrange meetings, communicate details, and handle urgent documents."
Does an office need so many secretaries? Xia Cheng looked around. There were about seven or eight people here, including her. There were already two secretaries, and three more with her.
"So what does Sister Wen Ya do?"
"Han Wenya is mainly responsible for accompanying the boss in communication, attending drinking parties, and keeping things going. After all, she's beautiful. Of course, you're pretty too! We'll give some of our reports directly to her for her signature."
Xia Cheng thought, no wonder Han Wenya asked her to check the data. It wasn't that she was targeting her, but she didn't have anything important to do. Most of the time, she should represent the face of the entire administrative team, that is... the face of the team.
Obviously, she could learn more from Xu Yi. But Xun Sheng must have had a reason for assigning her to Han Wenya.
Xia Cheng couldn't make up his mind, so he began to refuse: "Brother Yi, of course there is no problem with me. If Mr. Xun agrees, I am willing to work behind you."
"Very good."
Xu Yi clapped his hands and stood up: "I'll go tell him right away!"
When he reached the office door, he straightened his clothes a little, tried to calm himself down, and then raised his hand to knock on the door.
The door quickly opened from the inside, and Han Wenya walked out with an unhappy expression and glared at Xu Yi.
"What? Do you have something to say? Wait a minute."
"You have something important to do right now? How long will it take you? I'll only need a word."
"Of course I'm fine. The documents have all been signed, so what could possibly happen?"
"Then why are you blocking the door? Let me in."
"Don't be impatient." Han Wenya pushed Xu Yi out, clasped her arms around her chest, and stood still at the office door.
After a long time, he waved to Xia Cheng.
"Xia Cheng, Mr. Xun is looking for you."
"That's perfect. Xia Cheng and I will go in together." Xu Yi said as he pushed Han Wenya aside.
Xia Cheng stood up and turned off the phone screen.
"Okay, I'll be right there."
When she entered the office, Han Wenya was still standing there. They looked at each other before Han Wenya made way.
Xia Cheng closed the door with a smile and signaled the other person to move his feet away with his eyes.
Han Wenya glanced down at the buttons on her shirt; they were neatly arranged, a stark contrast to how they had been in the office just now. She'd spent so many years at Lando, struggling to reach this position, while Xia Cheng was only able to intern there. The stark contrast was unsettling.
After entering the office, she deliberately tested Xun Sheng, but he said nothing.
"Just do your own thing." Xun Sheng ordered her coldly, "Go and call Xia Cheng in."
Why did you call Xia Cheng in?
