Chapter 64: Leaving Xun Sheng's House
Xun Sheng's consciousness disappeared for a moment, then reappeared and fell on Xia Cheng's round shoulders. He raised his hand and wrapped her in the blanket.
"I am your brother." He did not push Xia Cheng away, but just kept reminding her.
"You are not, we are not related."
"No, we are together for life, not by blood, but by law." Xun Sheng had calmed down. He clasped Xia Cheng's shoulders with both hands and pushed her away from his arms.
At this moment, he was actually glad that the woman standing before him was Xia Cheng. If it was anyone else, he would probably go crazy and not even want to go home. Because it was Xia Cheng, he knew her well enough to pretend that nothing had happened and he hadn't heard anything. Xun Shengtian really thought so.
He always felt that Xia Cheng was essentially the same person as himself, sinister, hypocritical, and insecure. It was precisely because they were so similar that he could use his own thoughts to speculate about her, and by accident he always guessed right.
"You think so too, right? You wish you could just pretend that nothing happened, or that we don't know each other and have never met each other." Xun Sheng expressed his thoughts again. He looked straight at Xia Cheng, waiting for some expression on that innocent little face. He was expecting something, but he didn't know what he was expecting.
Xia Cheng was stunned. Xun Sheng was indeed right, but she couldn't admit it. Things had come to this point, so it was no time to tell the truth. She had already laid so much groundwork...
She stepped forward and hugged Xun Sheng's waist again, this time with great force. Before Xun Sheng could push her away, she heard her say:
"Perhaps you won't believe this, but I've loved you since the first time we met. Back then, I thought I treated you like a brother, but the more we interacted, the more we met, the more I realized my thoughts weren't pure. I didn't dare to say it, fearing you'd find me disgusting. But seeing you every day at the company is driving me crazy. I'm not asking you to like me, but I beg you to understand my feelings. It's okay if you don't agree, but please don't distance yourself from me, okay?"
Xun Sheng's arms hung limply at his sides, his fists clenched tightly, the blue veins on his forearms trembling. He was undoubtedly surprised to hear these words, but after the surprise, he felt numb inside.
He lowered his eyes and looked at Xia Cheng's short hair sliding against his chest. His thoughts surged in his heart and turned into a deep sigh. After a while, he pushed the person away with trembling hands.
"I'll just pretend I didn't hear anything and nothing happened. As for what you think, that's your business."
That's rejection.
Xia Cheng felt deeply frustrated. Even after she said so much, Xun Sheng still refused to agree to her. It seemed that he really didn't like her. If he didn't like her, how could she make Xun Sheng believe her?
Xun Sheng saw Xia Cheng's struggle. He pushed her away. As the heat source was farther away, he felt his body temperature drop slightly and his breathing became smooth again.
Xun Sheng picked up the phone.
"Do you have any clothes? If not, I'll have someone send them over."
Xia Cheng nodded, sat back on the bed, waited for the clothes to arrive, and walked dejectedly on the soft wool carpet to the bathroom to change clothes.
Xun Sheng thought that her disappointment was due to his rejection, but he never expected that Xia Cheng's mind was full of thoughts about what to do next. He stared at her back which was a little hunched due to frustration, and his waist suddenly bent down. He picked up a cigarette from the drawer and lit one in the house.
He has no smoking habit and never smokes in the bedroom. He only smokes a cigarette when he is under great pressure. The short puff of smoke can help him clear his mind.
Xun Sheng held the cigarette between his hands and raised his foot to go to the cloakroom. As he was sighing, his foot stepped on something soft.
He looked down and saw a bunch of dirty tissues stuck together. The memories of last night rushed into his mind, and all he could see was Xia Cheng's white skin. The two fingers holding the cigarette loosened, and the lit cigarette fell to the carpet. The ashes scattered in the air, and the cigarette butt burned the carpet black.
Xun Sheng: “…”
He bent down to pick it up, not daring to face what happened last night. But it was still his body. A strong sense of guilt emerged, and he lost consciousness again. His fingertips were burned by the cigarette butt before he regained his composure.
I was the one who said it, pretending nothing happened. But the person I was thinking about the most at this moment was actually myself.
Xun Sheng looked towards the bathroom door and saw Xia Cheng had already come out. She was wearing a white dress, with her head lowered and her brows lowered. She looked well-behaved at the moment. She opened the door and left without saying a word.
Xun Sheng was about to give her a few more instructions, but when he saw her leave, he awkwardly put down his outstretched hand. He then smelled a burnt smell coming from the carpet, and when he looked down, he saw - a large area of it was already burnt.
The surprise was fleeting. After cleaning up the mess, Xun Sheng looked at the bedroom. He was stunned by the action of pulling the bed sheet, but in the end he did not throw away the quilt.
Just pretend... nothing happened.

When Xia Cheng got home, it was not yet seven o'clock. Xun Youdong got up at half past seven. She tiptoed back to the house, but ran into Xiao Lai in the living room. He was holding a bunch of fresh roses. When he saw Xia Cheng, he smiled and handed her one.
Xia Cheng took the rose, put her index finger on her lips, and signaled Xiao Lai to shut up. Xiao Lai nodded tactfully, and his resolute square face looked extremely reliable.
Xia Cheng went upstairs with peace of mind.
Only after entering the room did she realize that she had been distracted and had held the rose too tightly, and there was blood on her palm. The rose had too many thorns, and because too many people coveted its fragrance, it had to be covered with thorns to protect itself.
Xia Cheng put the rose down, took a shower, and cleaned up at about eight o'clock.
After being busy for too long last night, she came to the company sleepily. When she passed by Xun Sheng's office, an idea suddenly occurred to her.
She was still worried about how to tell her parents that she wanted to move out, and wanted to ask Xun Sheng for help, but why would Xun Sheng help her?
Now that I think about it, what happened last night just gave me an excuse.
"Xia Cheng, have you had breakfast?" Dong Gao held the brown paper bag and obviously did not say the words of rejection that Xia Cheng had said before.
"Dong Gao, you are too partial. I haven't eaten yet, why are you concerned about Xia Cheng?" Han Wenya teased from the side.
"Ah, I've already eaten, Sister Wenya. If you haven't eaten yet, I'll give it to you!"
Han Wenya was not polite. She took it and winked at Xia Cheng. She said this on purpose so as not to embarrass Xia Cheng. After all, in her heart, Yu Jingyuan was already Xia Cheng's boyfriend. It would not do her any harm to have a good relationship with Xia Cheng.
But she was still curious. Yu Jingyuan was the mayor's son, so what was Xia Cheng's status? Looking at the clothes Xia Cheng wore every day and the bag she carried, she probably came here to experience life as a young lady...
She could see these things, and Dong Gao could naturally see them too.
She smiled at Dong Gao again.
This kid has both bright and sinister thoughts.
