Independent Extra 2: Mingxia and Cheng①

Independent Extra 2: Mingxia and Cheng①

After graduating from university, Xia Cheng joined Lin Minghe's mother's company. At first, she was just a salesperson with no experience at all, but after gradually accumulating connections, Ms. Lin transferred her to the marketing department.

She worked in the sales department for a year, gaining considerable experience. After moving to the marketing department, she felt much more comfortable, constantly learning about marketing and event planning.

The reunion with Lin Minghe was on a winter day when Xia Cheng got off work early. She drove to the supermarket and when she came out after buying things, she saw many people gathered around the ice lake from afar.

Xia Cheng remembered this lake. Many people came here for winter swimming some time ago, but there were not so many people gathered here. Xia Cheng put the things back in the car and walked over in the cold wind as if possessed by some unknown force.

One look and you'll know what's going on.

There was a child from some family crying by the lake, and there was one lying on the ice. The ice was newly formed and still hollow, not solid.

These children ignored the warning signs nearby and were brave enough to run onto the lake.

"Have you called the fire department?" Xia Cheng asked a passerby.

"It's hit." The passerby was quite worried. While they were talking, the ice cracked again. Without professional equipment, no one dared to swim in such freezing water.

Someone bought a swimming ring from the supermarket, but someone had to deliver it. Just as they were at a loss as to what to do, the ice the child was holding onto completely shattered, and the crowd screamed. Xia Cheng also covered her mouth.

She hasn't quite learned to swim yet, otherwise...

Who can come and save this child?

In my peripheral vision, I saw a man in a black down jacket pushing through the crowd.

“Make way! Make way!”

The man's voice sounded familiar. Xia Cheng turned her head and met the man's eyes. They were both stunned.

It’s Lin Minghe.

In a flash, they hadn't seen each other for several years. After they parted at the airport, Xia Cheng explained everything to him over the phone, but they hadn't seen each other since then, only occasionally sending messages during holidays.

Lin Minghe's hair had been cut short, and his build remained stocky, though a bit darker. It seemed the ultraviolet rays abroad were too strong. Perhaps due to his diet, Xia Cheng felt his face had become more resolute, his features no longer youthful.

Lin Minghe didn't say hello to her. He walked straight to the lake, took off his cotton jacket, and then rushed into the lake with a swimming ring.

Xia Cheng silently picked up the fallen clothes and held them in her arms.

"etc!"

She called out to Lin Minghe, who was in a thin white shirt and was stunned for a moment. Xia Cheng ran back to her car and got the safety rope for camping.

"Tie this around your waist."

Then a few more brothers took the initiative to pull the other end of the rope.

"Thank you." His voice didn't change.

After saying that, Lin Minghe approached with the swimming ring. On the ice, he lay on the swimming ring and crawled closer. After catching the child, he put the swimming ring on the child's head.

"Pull me!" he shouted, and several big men behind him began to exert force. Xia Cheng also cheered him on in his heart.

The child was soaked in water and was put on a swimming ring and pulled back. The ice surface made crackling sounds several times, and Xia Cheng was extremely nervous.

When the firefighters arrived, Lin Minghe had already followed Xia Cheng into the car.

Xia Cheng turned on the air conditioner and handed him her thermos cup. His lips were frozen purple and his whole body was covered in water vapor. He didn't have time to care about the difference between men and women.

Lin Minghe took off his wet lining before putting on his clothes.

"Thanks."

Xia Cheng saw that he had become calmer, but she was not used to it.

"Where is your home? I'll take you back."

Lin Minghe gave an address, and Xia Cheng was surprised to find that he still lived in the same community.

On the way, Xia Cheng kept looking at his face, and when she saw that it was rosy, she asked:

"When did you come back?"

"In recent months."

"Are you still competing?" In fact, she had secretly followed his movements and knew that he had become a swimming coach.

"No." Lin Minghe's arm felt a slight sting from the cold. "I'm going to be a coach, teaching kids."

"It's fine." Xia Cheng noticed that he kept pressing his arm, so she found a hot pack and handed it to him while waiting for the traffic light.

When handing something over, their palms overlapped for a moment. Noticing the coldness of his fingertips, Xia Cheng sped up the car.

"What about you? What are you doing?" He actually knew. For so many years, he had been silently paying attention to Xia Cheng as Qiu Shui Yi Ren. He knew that she joined his company and that she was still single.

"I used to work as a salesperson in your company, but now I work in the marketing department."

"That's good."

After saying this, he remained silent all the way.

Xia Cheng rode the person as fast as he could to the community.

After watching Xia Cheng leave, Lin Minghe called Chu Xiao.

"It's next to the Jingxin Lake, right? Please help me drive the car to the swimming pool tomorrow."

Chu Xiao was puzzled.

Lin Minghe chuckled and rubbed the remaining warmth on his fingertips.

"Something unexpected happened."

Xia Cheng never thought that Ms. Lin, as the chairman, would one day specifically ask her, a small marketing employee, to deliver medicine to Lin Minghe.

It was also from Ms. Lin that Xia Cheng learned that Lin Minghe had a fever, and it was so serious that he was almost unable to get out of bed.

But when Xia Cheng arrived at his house, she saw Lin Minghe playing games lively.

“You’re here!”

Seeing the medicine in Xia Cheng's hand, he raised an eyebrow. "My mom loves to exaggerate, don't take it to heart."

"It's okay." Xia Cheng put the medicine at the entrance. "If you're okay, I'll leave first."

When Lin Minghe heard this, he lay down on the sofa.

"Ouch, my head suddenly hurts! Cough cough, my lungs hurt too."

Xia Cheng didn't know whether he was real or not, so she ran over in a hurry.

"Where's your thermometer?"

"I don't know." Wouldn't it be a mistake to hold a thermometer?

Xia Cheng could only half-squat and feel the warmth on his forehead with the back of her hand.

“It’s not hot…”

But Lin Minghe looked unhappy, and Xia Cheng gritted her teeth.

"I'm sorry if I offended you."

She lifted the hair on Lin Minghe's forehead, leaned her head closer, and used her skin to feel Lin Minghe's body temperature. It seemed to be still normal. She raised her head in confusion and saw Lin Minghe's face gradually turning red.

"Your face is so red! I'll go get some medicine."

"Wait!" Lin Minghe fell down with a thud, quickly got up, and hugged Xia Cheng from behind.

"I don't have a fever!"

"Your face..."

"I lied to you!" His face was getting redder and redder, and he was more and more afraid to let others see him. "I wanted to see you...so I asked my mother..."

Xia Cheng was a little confused. They hadn't seen each other for several years, so why did he still want to see her? Even her guilt towards him had faded. He shouldn't still like her.

Lin Minghe is indeed like that.

In Country M, he tried to start a new relationship, joined social gatherings, and dated women, but the more he did this, the more he knew what he wanted.

Even when she saw a figure that looked like her, she couldn't help but curl her lips.

I don’t know how this feeling is so deep-rooted, even though they have no unforgettable experiences.

For him, grand and spectacular things are daunting, while ordinary things are worth savoring.

So he snooped into her private life in the game, and got into her car without hesitation after they met again.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" He asked knowingly, his body gradually getting hot, as if he really had a fever.

"If not, let's get back together."
