Chapter 111 She is his only antidote to lucidity
The two doctors have arrived.
One person examined and cleaned Lu Rang's wounds, while the other listened to Qian Jue recount what had happened.
After hearing about Lu Rang's behavior during his episode, the psychologist immediately stared at Shang Wu with a shocked look, scrutinizing her from head to toe.
Shang Wu felt uneasy under his gaze, her mind focused on Lu Rang. She frowned and asked, "Is there a problem?"
"Of course there is. Lawyer Lu cannot be forcibly awakened after his illness, but he was able to recognize you in his delirium and force himself to break free from his illness. It's a medical miracle! Do you know what this means?"
The psychologist became more and more excited as he spoke, pointing at Shang Wu: "You are his medicine."
Shang Wu was taken aback.
Her gaze fell on Lu Rang, looking at his pale face, and she sighed softly.
"He said he deliberately made himself sick, what does that mean?"
The doctor shrugged: "I don't know either. I thought he was deliberately triggering the symptoms to see if the medication was effective during this period."
He pondered, "Attorney Lu often displays this kind of violent state, but never in a public place like a liquor store. What happened this time?"
The psychologist thought for a moment: "Is the liquor store a place he's been in contact with recently?"
Qianjue asked in confusion, "No, young master knows this is the master's wine shop. He hasn't been to the wine shop since he was twelve years old."
Shang Wu's eyes flickered as she glanced at him: "Lu Rang knows that your husband invited me over, so how can that not be considered recent contact?"
"That's right."
The psychologist pointed at Shang Wu with his pen: "He cares about you. The liquor store you went to is not a good place for either of you. Therefore, if he develops destructive tendencies after his illness, he will find this place to cause trouble as soon as possible."
Shang Wu fell silent for a moment.
She remembered what Lu Rang had said: to let her witness his illness once before deciding whether she really wanted to try being with him.
Therefore, Lu Rang didn't want her to make a decision so quickly, but he also didn't want to keep rejecting her and make her wait for him to fall ill at some unknown time before he would actively trigger the illness.
Shang Wu felt as if someone had pinched her heart; it ached, swelled, and hurt a little.
That idiot.
He's usually calm and wise in his work, but when it comes to relationships, he becomes reckless and does crazy things.
Shang Wu rubbed her forehead and asked, "What method did he use to trigger his illness this time?"
The psychologist looked at her, then at Qianjue: "It looks like a place, a cemetery."
Qianjue's expression changed slightly, and he stared at Shangwu with an indescribable look.
Shang Wu asked directly, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Qianjue smirked and said sarcastically, "For him to go to such lengths for you, to touch upon the things he least wants to face, is truly..."
Shang Wu: "What do you mean?"
Qianjue stood up irritably, her face icy cold: "I'm going to report this to the master. He will definitely not tolerate Lu Rang causing trouble like this anymore."
“He won’t cause trouble anymore. He was just afraid that I would act impulsively and try to be with him without understanding what his condition was like. Now that I’ve seen it, he won’t do it again.”
Shang Wu stood up and looked coldly at Qian Jue: "You dare tell Lu Rang's father that I'll never let you get away with this! Besides, if I hadn't taken the wine bottle away, your head would have been smashed open long ago. How dare you go back and complain?"
Qianjue was speechless for a moment and choked up.
Shang Wu ignored him and looked directly at the psychologist, extending her hand.
"Give me all of Lu Rang's treatment records, as well as records of every conversation you had. I want to know exactly why he became like this."
Qianjue's face darkened, and before she could speak, the psychologist flatly refused.
“This is not just a matter for Attorney Lu alone, but also a secret of the Yu family. I cannot tell you without the Yu family’s consent, unless Attorney Lu himself is willing to tell you.”
Shang Wu pursed her lips and stopped insisting.
At that moment, the doctor next to him spoke up in surprise.
"Young Master is awake!"
Shang Wu and Qian Jue walked over at the same time.
Lu Rang opened his eyes, sat up abruptly, withdrew his hand (which was not yet properly bandaged), and walked outside.
Shang Wu was taken aback for a moment, then quickly stopped him: "Lu Rang, where are you going? The bandage isn't finished yet."
The psychiatrist frowned, staring intently at Lu Rang's expression: "He's still in the acute phase of his illness; he's not fully lucid."
"Young Master," Qianjue's tone became cautious, "Where are you going? Is there anything I can do for you?"
Lu Rang's gaze was extremely deep. Hearing this, he looked at him and said, word by word, "You can do murder too?"
Qianjue was stunned.
Shang Wu immediately went along with him, coaxing, "Who do you want to kill? I'll go help you. Don't run out; it's too dangerous outside."
Lu Rang then sat down: "Zhou Yanci."
Shang Wu thought she had misheard, so she leaned down and asked softly, "Why did you suddenly want to kill him?"
Lu Rang turned his head and looked directly at her: "He bullied Shang Wu."
Shang Wu was stunned.
Qianjue's tense and worried expression vanished. She took a deep breath and managed to suppress the urge to roll her eyes.
He suspected that Shang Wu had used a curse on Lu Rang.
After the onset of the illness, all I could think about was her and things related to her.
Shang Wu sat down, smiled, and pointed to herself: "Lu, let me make you see clearly, I am Shang Wu. I was not bullied. As for Zhou Yanci, I will deal with him personally."
Lu Rang looked at her without saying anything, but at least he didn't leave.
Shang Wu picked up a blanket, covered his legs, and touched the wound on the corner of his mouth.
"Does it hurt?"
Lu Rang nodded slightly: "It doesn't hurt."
Shang Wu leaned closer, took his arm, and coaxed him softly, "Then lie down and rest. You'll feel better after a while."
Lu Rang pursed his lips and said nothing.
"Lie down and take a nap." Shang Wu blinked. "Okay?"
Lu Rang met her expectant gaze and slowly lay down.
"Yes, that's it, great." Shang Wu pulled a pillow over and placed it behind his head, then got up to cover him with a blanket.
"Keep sleeping, I'll stay here with you, I won't go anywhere."
Her voice was as soft as a marshmallow.
Lu Rang slowly closed his eyes and relaxed his hands.
The doctor breathed a sigh of relief and continued bandaging him.
Shang Wu also relaxed and sat on the edge of the bed, looking down at Lu Rang.
Throughout the entire process, Qianjue watched as Lu Rang, whom no one could suppress and who sometimes even needed sedatives to calm down, was so soothed by Shang Wu's few words that she began to wonder if the world at all needed doctors.
So many people and so many medicines couldn't improve Lu Rang's symptoms, but a few comforting words are enough?
He clenched his fist and said irritably, "Alright, once you've bandaged him up, you can all leave. I think one person here is enough."
Shang Wu glanced up at him and said, "Then why don't you hurry up and get out?"
Qianjue had nothing to say, and left with a cold snort.
After everyone left, Shang Wu was exhausted.
She leaned gently against Lu Rang, closed her eyes, and gradually fell asleep while holding Lu Rang's arm.
...
When Shang Wu woke up, she was lying on a soft, warm bed.
It was already dawn sometime earlier, but the curtains were still drawn, allowing sunlight to filter through.
She turned her head and, not seeing Lu Rang, immediately took a breath, sat up, and pushed the door open to go out.
In the living room, Lu Rang was looking out the window, holding a difficult and obscure law book in his bandaged hands.
Shang Wu subconsciously slowed her pace and walked over.
"Lu Rang?"
Hearing the voice behind him, Lu Rang turned around, his eyes flickering as all the events of yesterday replayed in his mind.
He avoided Shang Wu's gaze, stood up, and asked, "You're awake. Would you like something to eat?"
Shang Wu walked over in a few steps and stared intently at Lu Rang: "You've recovered?"
Lu Rang nodded silently and walked into the kitchen.
Shang Wu grabbed him, frowning: "Why are you avoiding me?"
Lu Rang paused for a moment: "I wasn't avoiding you."
Before Shang Wu could say anything, he went straight into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator to find ingredients.
Shang Wu understood and followed them inside, where she saw the refrigerator was full of food.
There was nothing in the refrigerator when she came last time.
Shang Wu asked curiously, "When did you buy these ingredients? Have you started cooking for yourself?"
“I’ve been buying ever since you came last time.”
Lu Rang took out a loaf of toast and asked her, "I don't know how to cook yet, would you like some of this first?"
Shang Wu lightly touched the ground to his feet and walked up to him, smiling as she asked, "I know, it's because I came to your house last time and there was nothing there. You didn't want this situation to happen again, so you kept having food delivered, right?"
Lu Rang felt uneasy for a moment and put the toast into the oven to heat it up.
"No."
After saying that, Shang Wu wrapped her arms around his waist and hugged him from behind: "Okay, stop it. Your injury must hurt a lot. Don't move around."
Lu Rang froze.
With his uninjured hand, he pulled Shang Wu away, turned around, and looked down at her: "Why... are you still willing to hug me?"
Shang Wu blinked: "Why wouldn't I want to? That's a strange question."
"Weren't you afraid of what I looked like last night?"
Lu Rang's eyes were dark.
When he woke up, he saw Shang Wu sleeping next to him. Before he could even smile, he thought about what had happened the night before.
A night of madness, chaos, and violence.
He lost control in front of Shang Wu, and even almost hurt her.
When he has an attack, he can sense that the people around him are terrified, and that fear excites him.
After regaining his senses, he realized that everyone else was afraid of him, and Shang Wu was likely to be afraid of him, dislike him, and not want him.
Now, Lu Rang no longer had the courage to ask Shang Wu what she was thinking.
No one has the mental fortitude to date a mentally ill person.
Before Shang Wu could speak, Lu Rang already didn't want to continue the conversation.
He took the toast out of the oven, placed it in front of Shang Wu, and was about to leave.
He walked to the kitchen door, when he suddenly heard Shang Wu's voice behind him.
"If you were me, and I were you, would you be afraid of me, and pretend that nothing ever happened between us?"
Lu Rang stopped and said without hesitation, "No."
Shang Wu walked over and said, "Then I'll give you my answer too. I won't abandon you."
She held Lu Rang's hand and said, "You're a member of the Yu family. It's such an honor to date you. And that Su Tingting must be furious. After we finish the case, I'll take you to meet my parents. They'll definitely be very happy."
Lu Rang's furrowed brows were smoothed out by Shang Wu's comforting words.
He looked down at their clasped hands.
"I told you I would only give you one chance. You have made your choice, and there is no room for regret."
Shang Wu smiled and said, "Why would I regret it? Being with someone I like will only make me happy."
Lu Rang's breath hitched slightly. He pulled her close, held her waist with one hand, and lowered his head to kiss her.
Their breaths mingled, and Shang Wu felt a little dizzy from his kiss.
During their brief separation, Lu Rang whispered, "I will do my best to treat it."
Because of her, he wanted to become a normal person again as soon as possible.
Shang Wu's eyes trembled, and she stood on tiptoe, trying her best to respond to him.
Outside the door, a figure silently retreated.
Qianjue went out and got into the car with a complicated expression.
He thought for a moment, then looked up at the driver: "Let's go back to Wanhu to see Mr. [the gentleman], things are out of control."
