Chapter 33 Watching the Sunrise and Sunset

"Another pear!" Several children jumped over. "We had one just two days ago, and it was delicious."

Chunxiao simply took a basin, filled it with water, washed all the pears they were going to eat, and then asked the children to hand them to the adults.

"What a beautiful day."

"Yes, Mei. Ever since our little sister came back, I feel that life is getting better and better. I should have let our little sister come back earlier."

"If she hadn't encountered something like this, she wouldn't have been able to come back. I guess this is God's will."

"Speaking of which, a few days ago, when Chunxiao and I went to town, we ran into Zhou Hongzhi at the gate of the Xu family's house. He thought our little sister was following him to cause trouble. It was really funny."

When everyone heard what Dashan said, they looked at him and Chunxiao curiously.

"Met that bastard? Chunxiao, why didn't you tell me about this?"

Seeing Zhou looking at her, she took a bite of the pear and said, "What's there to say? I get annoyed just thinking about him. I didn't realize that family was the Xu family he was going to marry into. We happened to be selling some charcoal there and ran into him by chance."

"You didn't suffer any loss."

“How could that be possible!”

"Mom, you don't know, our little sister is very powerful now. At first, the scholar stopped us from leaving and insisted on an explanation from us. But then Miss Xu came out, and my little sister made the scholar and Miss Xu have a lot of misunderstandings with just a few words. I think he has some explanation for this matter." Dashan looked a little gloating.

"Serves him right. He treats a treasure like straw. I don't think he's very good at studying!" Tian said disdainfully.

"Sister-in-law, no matter how poor he is, he is already a scholar." Zhang reminded.

"What's wrong with being a scholar? There are so many scholars in the world, but how many of them can become officials? This person has a bad conscience, and most of them will suffer retribution."

"Okay, I won't say any more about that." She looked at the children, "Do you have anything you want? Think about it and tell Auntie. Once I've paid, I might buy it for you if I'm happy."

"You don't know where you are from. You never go to town without buying things. Now you don't know what to buy for yourself and you have to buy it for them." Yan Dashan smiled.

"They say that people with great abilities make money quickly and spend it quickly. I think they're referring to people like Chunxiao."

"Second brother, we are only making a small amount of money. It would be an exaggeration to say that we have great abilities."

"Anyway, in my second brother's eyes, you are already considered a man of great ability, better than many men in our village."

"Aunt, can I have a hair flower?" Shuduo looked at her eagerly while holding half a pear. "Guizhi's brother-in-law bought her a hair flower. It's so beautiful."

"I want a hair flower, too."

"I want one too."

All three girls wanted hair flowers. Girls, after all, love beauty. "Okay, then I'll buy one for each of you from the hair flower vendor. I'll buy the prettiest ones." The girls were happy. She then looked at Shuwen and Xiaoqi, "What about you?"

"Aunt, I want a book, please. Can you teach me all the words you know? I want to be able to read and do accounting like you."

Tian smiled awkwardly when she heard that, then turned around and glared at Shuwen, "Do you know how expensive books are? How dare you ask for anything?"

Unexpectedly, Chunxiao smiled and said, "Sister-in-law, don't say anything about him. Wanting to learn characters is a good thing." She looked at Shuwen again and said, "Okay, auntie promises to buy you a book to teach you how to read characters. But I can't even recognize all the characters myself, so I can only teach you the ones I know."

"Thank you, Auntie." Shuwen was happy. Now only Xiaoqi was left. Seeing Chunxiao staring at him, he said, "Auntie, I, I want to eat meat buns."

As soon as the words came out, everyone laughed at the same time, Chunxiao also laughed, this is what a little foodie.

"Meat buns are simple, you don't even need to buy them, Auntie. Next time I buy some meat, ask your Second Aunt to help you steam it. Eat as much as you want. We'll all eat with you then."

The whole afternoon was filled with laughter and joy on the field.

As the sun was about to set, everyone worked together to carry the wood into the yard.

Yan Bingfa went back with his two sons.

In the evening, Chunxiao was collecting charcoal and making a new stove. She planned to build ten stoves and make more while there was plenty of heat. The mother and daughter talked while roasting the campfire.

"Mom really wants to live like this with you in the future."

Chunxiao knew she was joking. Her older brothers were both filial, so it was not her turn to take her parents in. "Mom, it doesn't matter now. You can come over anytime you want. There's always a place for you here."

"Your elder brother and second brother both have children around them, but you are alone. It will be better if your mother is with you."

"It's good for you to accompany me, but I'm not afraid if I'm alone. Mother, I can support myself and live a good life. Don't you believe it?"

"Of course mother believes it. Today your father told me that now that you have some savings, why not consider buying two acres of land? That way, even if you lose your income in the future, you won't have to worry about it. You'll have food to harvest and won't starve to death. We'll farm the land for you when the time comes, so you don't have to worry too much."

Chunxiao thought about it and realized that what her father said made sense. Although she now had property, without land, she was still a proletarian. If she had money, she would definitely buy land. "Mom, how much is an acre of good farmland in our village?"

"Five taels per mu, I know that."

Chunxiao nodded and said, "Dad is right. I'll buy some. I'll talk to you about this after I get the money."

"Okay, if you buy some land, we'll all feel at ease."

Although they stayed up late that night, they finished their work much earlier than the previous two days. Moreover, all the cargo was completed smoothly. They felt extremely relieved and slept very soundly at night.

When people came to get charcoal in the morning, she simply didn't get up and let them do it themselves. She and Zhou slept until noon.
