Chapter 33 Watching the Sunrise and Sunset

"When did you become so familiar with Dongsheng?"

"I saw him selling game at the market a while ago, and I wanted to buy some, so I bought his. Then I asked him to ask me if he had any. It would be good for him and me." She shook the things in her hand. "It's almost the New Year, so I have to prepare some stock. I'll go to the river and clean them out."

"Give it to me. You have never peeled the skin before. This skin is peeled well and can be used after drying." He took the thing from Chunxiao's hand and said, "Go and do your own thing." He shouted at Zhou in the kitchen and asked her to heat the rice in the pot for him to eat when he came back.

Later in the evening, the couple chatted about the people in the village while watching over the stove. Sometimes they talked about which girl married well and brought back a lot of things every time she came back. Sometimes they talked about which girl married poorly and was not welcomed by her husband's family and had to go back to her parents' home every few days.

Chunxiao found it quite interesting; at least it allowed her to sort out the family relationships of the villagers. Surprisingly, her parents weren't usually gossipy and knew a lot about what they needed to know. Finally, they talked about Dongsheng's family.

"I see that this Wen family girl has been sick for years and it's not easy for her to live. It's better for her to die quickly and not burden her family."

"Although villagers often say this behind our backs, we can't say it. No one wants a living person to die." Yan Bingfa looked at Zhou with disapproval.

"We're all doing this behind my back, aren't we? I wouldn't say anything even if ten people tell me otherwise. With her health condition, not only can she not make any money, she's also constantly spending money. Think about it, before she got sick, her family was doing quite well. They were better off than ours back then."

"That's because Dongsheng is the only child."

"Mom, what's wrong with Aunt Wen? When did it start? Why can't it be cured?" Chunxiao asked curiously while making a fool of herself.

"It probably started when Dongsheng was around ten years old. Who knows what it is? The doctors can't explain it, but they just keep asking her to take medicine. I think even a mountain of gold would be consumed by her."

"Mom, that's not what I mean. Who doesn't want to be healthy? There's nothing we can do about it."

"that is."

"You think I'm full and have nothing to do but curse her here? I just feel bad for Dongsheng. Forget it, let's not talk about them anymore." She looked at her feet and saw fire suddenly bursting out. "Hurry, hurry, Chunxiao, the fire is coming out."

Chunxiao rushed over to deal with it.

I stayed up all night like this, and each night got later than the last.

When Yan Dashan and the others came in the morning, she had just finished the work in the backyard. They were all surprised to see her, "Are you still awake or are you already awake?" When her parents came home yesterday, it sounded very late.

Chun Xiao narrowed his eyes and said, "Brother, I haven't slept yet. I just finished. I'm going to boil some water for the soup. You guys can do it yourselves. Please help me close the gate when you leave."

Dashan and the others saw her walking towards the kitchen in a daze. It must be uncomfortable to stay up late in such a cold winter.

"Do you want me to make you something to eat before you go to sleep?" Tian asked with concern.

"No need, sister-in-law, you guys should hurry up and get ready. Go early and come back early."

That day, she felt like she had slept for an unusually long time. When she woke up, she realized it was already afternoon and everyone was working and chatting in the yard outside. She came out combing her hair. Zhou saw her and walked over. "There's porridge warming in the pot. Go and eat it quickly."

"I actually didn't know when my brother and the others came back."

"You're too tired. You're so sound asleep that you don't know what's going on outside. Anyway, you don't have to do any work in the yard, so don't worry about it."

"Mom, the weather is nice today. I want to wash my hair and take a bath. My hair is all greasy."

"You eat first. After you finish eating, boil some water and wash in the kitchen. I'll watch the door for you."

So Chunxiao happily washed her hair and took a bath. After she finished washing, seeing that the sun was strong, she persuaded her two sisters-in-law to wash their hair. In the end, everyone washed their hair and lay in the yard with their hair down to bask in the sun.

"Luckily, there's no one here. Otherwise, if this old man and this little one were sitting here with their hair disheveled, they would either scare people to death or get talked about to death."

"Dad, I feel really at home here with my little sister."

"I also think that there is no need to worry about what to do." Zhang was originally uncomfortable with letting her hair down in front of others, but when she saw that everyone was doing the same, she didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

"We're a good family, why should we care about what others say? Brother, when did you come back?"

"You came back before lunchtime. Mom told you to sleep a little longer so she didn't wake you up. Oh, I left today's receipt on the cabinet in your room. It's 319 kilograms in total."

"If you start a new batch today and send it off tomorrow, you'll only need 100 kilograms the day after tomorrow, right?"

Chunxiao nodded. "We don't need to burn so much tonight. Dad won't need your help. I think there are still several hundred pounds of wood left. We can sell it slowly and it will last for a few days."

"Finally everything went well."

"Once this is over, everyone can have a good rest."

"I actually hope there are more cases like this. Making money is the best thing."

"Dad, my aunt said that health is more important than money. Without a good body, no amount of money will be of any use." Yan Qi was helping Duo'er comb her hair when he heard the adults talking and suddenly interrupted.

Dashan laughed and said, "Your aunt is right. Health is the most important thing. So from now on, don't go out on rainy or snowy days, and don't go to the river casually."

Chunxiao returned to the house and took out the basket of pears. "I bought these before but didn't have time to eat them. Come on, each of you take one. They won't get cold even in the sun. Remember to wash them before eating."
