Upon hearing this, Shang Yun Shen frowned slightly, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping himself.
After a moment, he asked, "Why don't you look sad at all? Didn't Mom say you and Lu Rang broke up? He stayed at the Yu family's house, and you two can't even see each other. You broke up like this, aren't you sad?"
Shang Wu blinked.
Can't we even see each other?
Her eyes flickered: "Being sad won't change the fact that we broke up. I can't choose a man over my mother, can I?"
Shang Yun Shen felt uneasy listening to this, so he raised his hand and patted her head: "Don't worry, I'll take care of those people who are talking nonsense. You can do whatever you want during this time and relax."
"good."
Shang Wu agreed, left the company, and returned to her studio.
As soon as she arrived, she saw a figure standing outside the studio door.
"Miss Shang!"
Yan Yue waved and greeted him, then ran over, beaming, "I've been waiting for you for half an hour! I heard from our law firm's partner that you specifically asked me to be your studio's legal counsel, offering me triple pay. Is that true? Could it really be me?"
God knows how envious he was when he found out Lu Rang was getting ten times his salary.
Shang Wu smiled: "Attorney Yan, you were my brother's client and helped him get out of prison and clear his name. I've long considered you one of my own, so of course I'll ask you to be my legal advisor."
She went inside and handed a document to Yan Yue.
"Take a look, this is all the work content."
Yan Yue took the document, and his eyes widened slowly from the very first sentence.
"Is this... this what my job entails?"
He was a little confused.
Does this content have absolutely nothing to do with legal counsel?
Shang Wu raised an eyebrow: "Do you have any opinions or thoughts?"
Yan Yue scratched his head and asked cautiously, "Can I understand what all this means? I don't look like a legal advisor; I look more like an actor you've hired."
"Yes," Shang Wu asked, "Is it not okay?"
Yan Yue found it strange, but thinking of the triple salary, he swallowed his words.
"Okay, I will definitely cooperate unconditionally."
Shang Wu nodded slightly.
"That's good, go back now."
Yan Yue got up and obediently left.
After everyone left, Shang Wu called Lu Rang.
Lu Rang answered the call, his voice carrying a low laugh: "See you at the restaurant in half an hour. No one will see us; I've booked the whole place."
Shang Wu smiled, got up and walked out, laughing with him, "Sir, you're very generous. Don't you know that I'm someone no one dares to want in Lincheng? You actually want to treat me to dinner."
"Would Miss Shang do me the honor of joining us? We have your favorite Australian dishes," Lu Rang asked.
Shang Wu pushed open the office door: "I'll have to make the trip, alright."
She hung up the phone with a smile.
Going underground to keep a relationship secret doesn't seem so bad, does it?
Just as Shang Wu was about to press the elevator button, the elevator suddenly opened.
An obese man wearing a baseball cap came out, his head down so his face was obscured.
Shang Wu's smile vanished, and she narrowed her eyes warily: "Who are you?"
The man paused, then took off his hat.
Shang Wu was stunned.
She recognized the other person; he was the Zhou family's butler, an old man who had served Zhou's mother for over a decade, if not utterly loyal to the family.
The Zhou family went bankrupt, Zhou Yanci was imprisoned, and his parents were devastated and never recovered.
The suffering she, her brother, and their parents endured has all come back to haunt the Zhou family.
Why would the Zhou family send someone at a time like this?
Furthermore, the Zhou family has already lost everything; where would they get the money to hire this housekeeper again?
Shang Wu immediately sensed something was wrong and kept retreating.
"How did you get up here? Do you have a key card for this building?"
As she spoke, she quietly reached into her pocket and touched her phone.
The butler stared intently at her, a sinister smile on his face: "You don't know yet, do you? The young master was seriously injured, and his wound got infected while he was in and out of prison. He's almost gone now."
Shang Wu's breath hitched.
Her people haven't brought the news from the prison yet.
Hearing this out of the blue, she was somewhat taken aback and surprised, and she really didn't expect Zhou Yanci to perish in this way.
"Don't you have anything to say?" the butler asked.
Shang Wu composed herself: "What can I say? I never intended to kill him. I just wanted him to fend for himself in prison. He was unlucky enough to have his wound infected and end up like this. What does that have to do with me?"
"Fine, fine, it's none of your business."
The butler suddenly brandished the knife in his hand: "If I kill you now, will it have nothing to do with the Zhou family?"
Shang Wu was startled and turned to run.
The housekeeper had already anticipated what she was going to do, and quickly stepped forward to grab Shang Wu's shoulder.
Shang Wu dodged to the side, but he still found an opportunity and stabbed her in the heart!
Shang Wu instinctively raised her hand to block, but the knife cut her arm and pierced her chest, only penetrating a little bit.
Even so, she still felt excruciating pain, so much so that she couldn't stand up and collapsed to the ground, all her strength gone.
Just as the butler was about to make another move, a figure suddenly darted out from behind and kicked the butler away.
The housekeeper bumped into the glass door.
The glass shattered, and he collapsed to the ground, unable to get up.
Yan Yue helped Shang Wu up, sweating profusely with anxiety. He hadn't expected to hear these words on Shang Wu's phone call, and knew something bad was going to happen, so he rushed back before even leaving the building.
"Are you alright, Miss Shang? No, you're injured! I'll take you to the hospital!"
Shang Wu clutched her chest, gasping for breath in pain, and glanced coldly at the butler.
"Call the police. Since he's so loyal, let him go to jail and see Zhou Yanci off on his final journey."
As soon as she finished speaking, she couldn't hold on any longer and her vision went black; she fainted.
