Chapter 277 The New Family Doctor

Shang Wu's mood became like the weather in June.

Sometimes she would feel down without warning, and tears would fall as she looked out the window.

Sometimes I get inexplicably irritable over the smallest things.

Lu Rang remained patient throughout the situation.

When Shang Wu was feeling down, he would quietly stay by her side, handing her tissues, or holding her in his arms and gently patting her back, not saying much, just letting her know that he was there.

When she is upset or unhappy, he immediately corrects himself and never argues.

One night, Shang Wu suddenly woke up and felt the air in the bedroom was stuffy. She felt a sense of panic and couldn't fall back asleep.

She moved slightly, and Lu Rang beside her immediately woke up.

"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" His voice was hoarse from just waking up, but it was incredibly clear.

"It's nothing, I'm just feeling a bit stuffy and can't sleep," Shang Wu said listlessly.

Lu Rang immediately got up, checked the air purifier's operation, then went to the window and opened it a small crack to ensure fresh air circulation without making her catch a cold.

He returned to bed, pulled Shang Wu into his arms, gently patted her back with one hand, and hummed a lullaby he had heard somewhere, as if soothing a child.

Under his clumsy yet gentle reassurances, and listening to his steady heartbeat, Shang Wu's inexplicable panic gradually subsided, and she drifted back into sleep.

Listening to her even breathing, Lu Rang lay awake in the darkness, not sleepy at all, but not bothered at all.

Protecting her and the child has become the most important and core mission in his life at this moment.

The early stages of pregnancy passed by day by day.

Shang Wu's abdomen was still flat, but she and Lu Rang both knew that a thriving little life was growing inside, and they were working together to build the strongest and warmest harbor for the arrival of this life.

Time flies, and under Lu Rang's meticulous care, Shang Wu safely passed through the first trimester of her pregnancy.

On the day of my 12th week prenatal checkup, the doctor smiled and announced that the fetus was developing very well and the placenta was in a stable position, meaning we had entered a relatively stable second trimester.

Lu Rang's tense shoulders finally relaxed almost imperceptibly, and the huge weight that had been hanging over his heart finally lifted off his feet.

After leaving the hospital and getting into the car, Shang Wu looked out at the bright sunshine and felt that even the air was much fresher.

She turned to look at Lu Rang, whose brows were relaxed in the driver's seat, and smiled as she said, "Now, can we tell everyone? If we don't tell you soon, I'm afraid my sister and Cheng Zhou will get restless, and I'm also afraid Dad will worry."

Lu Rang took her hand, nodded, and his eyes were filled with undisguised joy and relief: "Okay, I'll listen to you."

The message was first sent in a small group chat among the four of them.

Almost the instant the message was sent, Cheng Zhou's phone started ringing off the hook, with Lu You's playful scolding in the background: "I knew it! You two are really good at keeping things a secret! You kept such a big happy event hidden until now!"

That evening, Lu You and Cheng Zhou arrived with bags full of supplements and baby supplies.

As soon as Cheng Zhou entered, he surrounded Shang Wu, marveling at her appearance. He wanted to reach out and touch her still flat stomach but didn't dare, only to be slapped away by Lu Rang.

Lu You then took Shang Wu's hand and carefully inquired about the examination results. Only after hearing that everything was fine did she finally relax, and a genuine smile appeared on her face: "That's great, A-Wu, now our Lu family is really going to have a new member."

Immediately afterwards, Lu Rang personally called Lu Zheng.

On the other end of the phone, Lu Zheng, who was usually calm and dignified, remained silent for several seconds after hearing the news. When he spoke again, his voice carried a hint of barely perceptible sob and excitement.

"Good! Good! That's wonderful! How is A-Wu's health? You must take good care of her! I...I'll go there tomorrow!"

The next afternoon, Lu Zheng indeed arrived from the Yu family, looking travel-worn.

He not only brought many expensive prenatal supplements, but also, after dinner, handed a thick document to Shang Wu in front of everyone.

“Awu,” Lu Zheng said solemnly, “this is a share transfer agreement for part of the Yu Family Wharf and related affiliated industries. You have done a great service in bearing children for the Lu family, and this is what you deserve. Consider it a gift from your grandfather to your future child.”

This gift is too much! Shang Wu was so surprised that she quickly waved her hand: "This is too precious, I can't accept it."

Lu You watched from the side, deliberately crossing her arms and feigning anger as she pouted, "Dad, aren't you being too biased? I didn't get this treatment back then! Grandparents really do favor their grandchildren; the family business has already been handed over before I was even born!"

Her words instantly broke the somewhat tense atmosphere.

Lu Zheng glared at her, both amused and exasperated: "You silly girl, you're talking nonsense! Your share was given to you a long time ago, and you're managing the docks now, aren't you?"

Shang Wu also realized that this was Lu Zheng's way of expressing his importance and joy, and if she refused again, it would seem like she was being distant.

She glanced at Lu Rang, who nodded slightly to her.

She then accepted the document with both hands and said sincerely, "This gift is so precious. Lu Rang and I will keep it safe and give it to our child in the future."

Lu Zheng smiled with satisfaction, looking at Shang Wu with eyes full of praise and affection: "You are a good girl. It is Lu Rang's good fortune to marry you."

The family was enjoying a happy time together, preparing to move to the dining room for dinner, when the doorbell rang.

Aying ran to open the door and led in a woman who looked to be around forty years old, dressed appropriately, and with a capable and gentle demeanor.

"Mr. Shang, Mr. Lu, this Ms. Li Li said she saw our job posting and came to apply for a family doctor position," A Ying introduced.
